2 When I was a little child, just 3 years old, I sang this song at a Good News Club, and it thrilled my heart. I felt like I had never heard anything so beautiful in all my life. I fell in love with Jesus, and that love has never left my heart. Jesus was the most kind, loving, compassionate person who ever lived. Tell me the story of Jesus, Write on my heart every word, Tell me the story so precious, Sweetest that ever was heard. Tell how the angels in chorus Sang as they welcomed His birth "Glory to God in the highest," Peace and good tidings to earth." After all the good that Jesus did, a lot of wicked people got Him killed in a very cruel way, on the cross. There Jesus died for our sins. His followers felt crushed. But after 3 days, Jesus rose from the dead. One day He is coming back to bring His true children, who love Him, home to be with Him. It's Jesus' Birthday ~4~

3 The virgin Mary is an amazing female hero in our Bibles and in all Christendom. But at the time when God told her that she would become pregnant with God's Son, it was far from a heroes welcome in her home town. How would anyone believe her that she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit of God??? Probably no one, except her cousin Elizabeth, whom God sent her to as a refuge, as everyone talked about how she had wickedly been immoral and was making up the story that she wasn't immoral, she was made pregant by God. Mary was very young when she conceived Jesus. According to the culture she lived in, she would most likely have been only 14 or 15 years old. Joseph would have been in his twenties or early thirties, much older than her. And it is unlikely that he would have been the man she had chosen to marry. Parents made that choice in those days (and there were a lot fewer divorces or broken families that way). Mary accepted all of it, from God's hand: the gossip, the scornful glances, the ridicule, and the incredible statement that her child was conceived by God. How often do we say, in hard situations like what she faced, "Be it unto me just as you have said"? That's why God chose her. You can make this angel into a paper doll by gluing it to a piece of cardboard, with a generous rectangle below the angel that you can fold back as a stand. 4 After a month long journey, from Nazareth to Bethlehem, Mary arrived to the most impossible, and insanely difficult situation she could have imagined for giving birth for the very first time. When Mary and Joseph arrived at Bethlehem, every inn there was, was full, and she was about to give birth at any moment! How utterly terrifying! We don't know if she even had any woman in attendance with her. But we do know that the stable was likely a cave, and was cold, and was full of animals, and that baby Jesus was born to a bed of hay. What a lonely, God-forsaken feeling, to be so poor and so desperate in that situation. Why did God allow this to happen? For one thing, it fulfilled the prophecy that the Messiah would be from Bethlehem, because she was forced to go there to give birth. But there is more to it than that. There is something everyone seems to miss about our great God. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, but you know what He cares about most? The poor, the sick, the needy, the disabled, the lowly, the downtrodden. They are those of whom Jesus later said, "Blessed are you poor, for YOURS is the KINGDOM OF GOD!" Our great God prefers to be among the lowly, the despised, the weak, and the helpless. What a different kind of King than all others who ever lived.
