1 Christ(mas) In Genesis The arrival of Jesus, the Savior of the world, is anticipated in the entire OT starting with the very first book! Luke 24:27 & John 5:39, NLT Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself "the Scriptures point to me!" Not The Way It's Supposed To Be! Genesis 3 tells us why we live in a fallen world not a normal one. The "major malfunction" that occurred in the Garden of Eden still affects us and the world today! 1

2 The Fall Came After The Fall! Satan used the craftiness of the serpent to help bring the human race down with him. Revelation 12:9 & Genesis 3:1, NLT the ancient serpent, called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world was thrown down The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, "Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any tree in the garden?" Eve Took The Bait! She mimicked Satan by expressing her own revisions of what God had said. Genesis 3:2-3, NIV The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'" Satan's "Half Truths" He called God a liar with some clever lies of his own! Genesis 3:4-5, NIV "You will certainly not die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 2

3 Eve Bites Then Adam! Eve was fooled, but her passive husband was the bigger fool! Genesis 3:6, NIV When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Romans 5:12, NLT When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. The Serpent Bites The Dust! This animal's proximity to the ground now symbolizes degradation and defeat. Genesis 3:14, NIV So the Lord said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life." A Creepy Creature! To this day, humans generally fear snakes and find them repulsive. Genesis 3:15, NIV And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers 3

4 Earliest Signal Of Christmas! This first proclamation of the gospel comes immediately after the fall of the human race. Genesis 3:15, NIV And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. This Is Why Jesus Was Born! Galatians 4:4 & 1 John 3:8, NIV But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. God rest ye merry, gentlemen, let nothing you dismay. Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas day To save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray. O tidings of comfort and joy! The Gospel Pictured In Eden Religion: Trying to dress yourself [Adam and Eve] realized they were naked; so they sowed fig leaves together and made a covering for themselves. (Genesis 3:8) Gospel: Letting God dress you! And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife. (Genesis 3:21) 4

5 What Are YOU Wearing? You aren't FIT for heaven unless you're OUTFITTED with Christ! Galatians 3:26-27, NLT For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. 5
