2 Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (ESV)

3 Hermeneutics Does an idea need: Explained? (We don t understand it) Proved? (We don t believe it), or Applied? (We don t naturally do it)? Is it hard for you to kick against the goads? All things work together for good Be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger

5 Phrase #2 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger (1:19, ESV) We usually know the opposite. We know people who are Slow to hear, quick to speak, quick to anger.

6 Proverbs Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. (17:28, ESV) Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him. (29:20, ESV)
