3 Members Who Are Ill MOUNT CARMEL BAPTIST CHURCH CONSECRATION of OFFICERS, LEADERS, and Flora Austin Michael Brew Wisteria Harris Anita Nottingham Emily Redmond 2101 Belmont Avenue, Apt. F125 Philadelphia, PA Fox Subacute at Clara Burke 251 Stenton Avenue Plymouth Meeting, PA Hummingbird Place, 1st Floor Philadelphia, PA N. Robinson Street Philadelphia, PA Delancey Street Philadelphia, PA EDUCATORS of the CHURCH Minister: Our consecration scripture reading is Matthew 9:35-38 (NRSV) Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Let us pray together All: As our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ commanded us, we ask, Almighty God, that You would send out laborers into Your harvest. Holy Spirit, stir up, equip and anoint each and all of us to do Your bidding with compassion, skill, dedication and gladness. By the loving power You unleash through us, grant, oh God, that a rich and multiplied harvest of peace, health, justice and love would be made manifest in all the earth, for Your glory and honor. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen. Minister: If any of you who are scheduled to serve as a Mount Carmel Leader, Officer or Educator knows any reason why you should not serve in your assigned capacity in the Church at this time, you may excuse yourself from this Consecration by remaining seated. (brief pause) Will all those who are willing and able to accept their assignments as Officers, Leaders, and Educators in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church please stand. (pause)
4 Officers, Leaders, and Educators, yours is the sacred privilege of furnishing a context in which women and men, boys and girls can grow in the love, knowledge and service of God. By your wise and loving leadership, and your diligent and skillful execution of necessary tasks, you serve on the team of stewards for God s Church and you participate in making manifest the Sovereignty of God in our day to day lives. Servants of Christ, we charge you to wield influence with humility and lovingkindness, and to steward God s resources with wisdom. As Peter s second Epistle in the New Testament exhorts, you must make every effort to support your faith with goodness, and goodness with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and selfcontrol with endurance, and endurance with godliness, and godliness with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love. For if these things are yours and are increasing among you, they keep you from being ineffective and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1:5-8) If you are willing to endeavor to serve in this Spirit, I invite you to affirm the following, in unison: Officers, Leaders and Educators: With God as my Teacher and Guide, I will endeavor to faithfully perform the duties and responsibilities of my assigned role in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church community. The Holy Spirit being my help, I will be diligent in seeking continued growth in my relationship with God, through prayer, worship, service, giving, study, and meditation on Scripture; I will exercise fidelity to the Christian Scriptures, and to the Constitution and By-Laws of Mount Carmel Baptist Church; I will actively pursue and engage opportunities to develop skills that enhance my service to the Church; I will gladly and sacrificially give of my time, talents and finances for the work of the Church; and, aware of the merciful and gracious love of Jesus Christ in my own life, I will deal kindly, respectfully and honorably with all people. If your, interested please contact: Lisa or C. Linda The Mount Carmel Baptist Church Dial-A-Prayer line has been updated and is LIVE! Call in for a new moment of prayer each week at !!! Save the Date Men of Mount Carmel Baptist Church Hosting their Annual Father & Son, Father & Daughter Breakfast Saturday, June 8, 8:00 a.m. Minister: Officers, Leaders and Educators have a significant, but only partial, part to play in manifesting God s loving purposes throughout the world; each and every day, the work of the Church requires active participation by ALL disciples of Jesus Christ! As members of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, if YOU will commit to doing your part, I invite you to affirm the following, in unison: Members of Mt. Carmel: Having heard the stated commitments of our Officers, Leaders and Educators, I now declare my own determination to participate in the work of the Church with them. The Holy Spirit being my help, and in partnership with our Leaders, Officers and Educators, I commit myself to being a vehicle for Christ s Spirit of cooperation, faithfulness, patience and encouragement; with kindness and respect I will share constructive comments regarding our shared ministry; I will endeavor to pray for all my fellow Christians, and for the unchurched who may not yet have tasted the sweetness of the love of God; and I will seek the Lord s help in being glad and sacrificial in my giving of my time, skills and finances for the work of this Church. Minister: Would all please stand as you are able, for the Prayer of Consecration: Eternal God our Father and Mother, Who calls us into service and Who gives us grace and strength to fulfill that calling: Please look with favor upon these who now dedicate themselves to serve You through this church; consecrate them to the ministries to which You have called them and grant them wisdom and joy for the completion of their commitments. Grant unto all who stand before You this day a clearer experience of Your everlasting love. Enliven our faith so that, as Your people, we will cherish Your holy calling on our lives, and fulfill Your calling with courage and grace.
6 Holy Spirit, discipline us that we would be transformed by worship, prayer, service and sacrifice, more and more into the image of Jesus Christ. And finally, oh God, with the same power that created all that exists and that raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, please fortify Your Church, its ministries and people, until we manifest and receive Your will done on earth as it is in heaven. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, we pray. Amen 2019 O. Carmel's Haiti Mission Team as they share God's love in Port-Au-Prince. Thanks much, Dr. Hazell. "Footsteps of Faith: Still Walking" Campaign This campaign is a one year (July July 2019) faith journey in order to eliminate the remaining mortgage balance. By eliminating the mortgage, we will be in a far better position to address structural/maintenance needs inside and outside of the church building, while at the same time meeting and expanding our ministry opportunities for the church family and wider community. This is a journey of sacrifice and includes different levels of giving. See pledge cards and envelopes in the entryway. We have entered into our final 6-month phase of the Footsteps of Faith: Still Walking Campaign. God has truly blessed us and as we remain committed to this journey of sacrifice let s also be committed to a spiritual journey of fasting, meditation and prayer every Wednesday, over the next 6 months ending on June 26, Although some of you may not be able to turn down your physical plates, we can all give up something on Wednesdays (social media, television, sweets, sugary drinks, coffee, etc.) that will allow us to have a more intimate relationship with God. Let s be prayerful as we achieve our goal One Church Working Together. The Hospitality Ministry is currently looking for new members, female and male are welcome.
