1 Parabolic Discourse PRBLES OF JESUS The Gospels of the New Testament provides us with the. The majority of His Parables come from the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke. Bible Parable is simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, as told by Jesus in the Gospels n Matthew 13, the disciples asked Jesus why he spoke in Parables. Jesus answered that those who love the truth will understand the Parables, and those who do not love the truth will not understand His Parables. From Jesus answer to His disciples, it is important that we understand and reflect on the Christ. More importantly is that we take action on our understanding of the Parables. How Should We nterpret Parables? Key Verses: cts 1:1-2 The former treatise have made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach. Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen. ntroduction: n the introductory series of THE BETTUDES, we learned that the Sermon on the Mount was Jesus standard sermon. We also noted that the Kingdom of Heaven was the theme of His teaching, and many of the Parables start with this theme in mind. Support Reference Videos: Preview Sermon on the Mount click to watch, Beatitudes click to watch The Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God are synonymous. The Kingdom of God occurs (68 times) in 10 different New Testament books; and the Kingdom of Heaven occurs (32 times) and only in the Gospel of Matthew. Thus, the Kingdom of Heaven or the Kingdom of God is wherever the Reign or Dominion of God is manifested with the coming of Jesus Christ. : t has been estimated that at least one-third of Jesus recorded teaching is found in the Parables. Matthew 13:13-15; saiah 6:9-10; John 2:25 for He knew what was in man To Reveal: Jesus explained the Parables in private to His disciples, their TTTUDE was such that they wanted to learn the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven Matthew 13: How Should We nterpret Parables? The Guidelines for Proper nterpretation: Look for the CENTRL truth of the Parable, making sure that any other truths gleaned from the Parable are in harmony with it. The problem Jesus faced was that many people, though they had ears to hear, their ears had become hard of hearing Matthew 13:14-15 To illustrate this problem, Jesus told Parables to CONCEL truths from the unbelievers and to REVEL His messages to those who wanted to learn the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven Mysteries Defined: The meaning of Mysteries truths previously unknown, but now revealed the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed read more NT Mysteries Open Bible Parable of The Sower and The Soils: The significance of this particular Parable is to enhance the words of Jesus recorded in Mark 4:13 Do you not understand this Parable? How then will you understand all Parables? This Parable is recorded in Matthew 13:3-9; Mark 4:3-9; and Luke 8:4-8 t is one of the few Parables in which Jesus interprets its meaning: Other known titles: The Parable of the Sower The Parable of the Seed The Parable of the Four Soils. The Farmer and Sowing Seeds: vv.3-8 Jesus speaks according to the agricultural customs of His day. n those days, seed was scattered first, then it was plowed into the ground. Many environmental factors determine how well a seed will thrive. f a seed is unable to make its way into the healthy soil, it cannot flourish. Key Elements: The Sower, Seed and Soils The Wayside: the path where people walked and nothing could grow because the ground was hard Stony Places: the soil was thin, the seeds were unable to take root because of heat exposure mong Thorns: useless weeds that occupies the ground and injures the growing crop. Good Ground: describes soil that is fertile and weed-free, able to grow good crops.. The Parable nterpreted: vv Sower true believer Seed the gospel Soil true recipient Support Reference Video: Being Faithful Witnesses, by Dr. Gene Getz: Mark 4: minutes The Wayside: The hard ground represents someone who is hardened by sin; he/she hears but does not understand the Word, and Satan plucks the message away. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 Stony Places: a man/woman who professes delight with the Word; however, his/her heart is not changed, and when trouble arises, his/her so-called faith quickly disappears. mong Thorns: those who seems to receive the Word, but whose heart is full of riches, pleasures, and lusts; the things of this world take their attention away from the Word. Good Ground: the person that hears, understands and receives the Word, and then allows the Word to accomplish its result in their life. The man/woman represented by the good ground is the only soil of the four who is truly saved, because salvation s proof is fruit. Matthew 7:21-29 pplication: man s reception of God s Word is determined by the condition of his heart.

Read Jesus interpretation of the (4) types of Soils. This truth is illustrated further when Jesus taught the Parable of The Wheat and The Tares. The Parable nterpreted: This Parable is a placing of one thing beside another with a view of comparison Jesus interpretation was in response to the disciples request. Until they have matured completely, it is nearly impossible to tell one from the other. On a spiritual level the tares possess all the activities of the genuine believer, but it does not mean that they are real believers. Tares sit under preaching where the truths of the Bible are explained and made clear. Tares can memorize Bible verses and know Bible stories. Tares sing in the choir; serve as Deacons, Elders and Sunday school teachers. Tares even stand in the pulpit and preach the Word of God. 3. Treasure is used Metaphorical: Exodus 19:5 peculiar treasure Psalm 135:4 Jacob peculiar treasure 1 Peter 2:9 peculiar people Key Elements: (1) a Man Jesus (2) Treasure the Jewish People (3) Field the world The Hidden Treasure: t illustrates the value of the heavenly treasures and what a person should do in order to secure it. The Parable also illustrates a turning point in the history of srael. 1. The Mercy of God toward the Jews: God chose the Jewish people to be a blessing to the entire world. But, time after time God judged srael for their rebellion against Him. Luke 19:10 Jesus came to seek and save the lost John 20:31-31 Jewish leaders rejected His claims John 1:10-14 He came to His own, His own rejected John 4:1-4 Jesus left Judea to their own fate Twin Mountains: Curses read from Mount Ebal Blessings read from Mount Gerizim. Deuteronomy 11:29 2. The Mercy of God toward the Gentiles: srael was just one part of the plan of God to draw all mankind back to Himself. srael played a vital role from 2000 B.C.to about 33.D. The message of the Gospel was a stumbling block to srael, because they did not seek God s righteousness by Grace alone, Christ alone, Faith alone. Paul committed his life to Christ.
