Today s readings for Trinity Sunday succinctly cover the depth and breadth of our human travels. The very beginnings of our journey are revealed in the reading from Proverbs. God s plan filled with divine wisdom was born before the earth was made. In today s Gospel, Jesus speaks of his own personal journey. He has come from the Father and will return to the Father. Only then will the Advocate the Spirit of Truth take us onward. This does not diminish the fact that the journey will be hard. The very setting of the Gospel is the night before Jesus died. As Saint Paul writes to the Romans, We even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope (Romans 5:3 4). Ultimately, our human journey is modeled by the Holy Trinity a family of love among Father, Son, and Spirit that we are all called to emulate. Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co. 3 The Most Holy Trinity Page 3 NEW BEGINNINGS I am heading to Ireland for my vacation. Thank God, Fr. Brennan is able to help out Fr. Innocent. My prayer for all of you is, that you will get a break during the summer. All of us need to recharge our batteries. Vacation helps us to rest, to re evaluate how we spend our time and where we need to make new beginnings. Wally Dondero (a friend) shared with me the following prayer. God Bless, Fr. Mike Beginnings God of history and of my heart, help me to make beginnings: to begin going out of my weary mind into fresh dreams, daring to make my own bold tracks In the land of now. To begin forgiving that I may experience mercy: To begin questioning the unquestionable that I may know truth: To begin disciplining that I may create beauty: To begin sacrificing that I may accomplish justice: To begin risking that I may make peace: To begin loving that I may realize joy. Compassionate God Help me to be a beginning for others, to be a singer to the songless, a storyteller to the aimless, a befriender to the friendless: To become a beginning of hope for the despairing, of assurance for the doubting, of reconciliation for the divided: To become a beginning of freedom for the oppressed, of comfort for the sorrowing, of friendship for the forgotten: To become a beginning of beauty for the forlorn, of sweetness for the soured, of gentleness for the angry, of wholeness for the broken, of peace for the frightened and violent of the earth. Creator God Help me to believe in beginnings, to make a beginning, so that I may not just grow old, but grow new each day of this amazing life you call me to live.

4 June 3, 2007 Page 4 We would like to thank the parishioners that have increased their weekly giving after our previous appeal. As you can see from the financial statement below, we are still operating in a deficit. Even though our collections have increased, we have had large expenditures along with higher operating costs this year. Efforts are underway to try and reduce these expenses where possible without reducing our programs or staffing. As previously requested, our goal was to average our weekly contributions at $12, The yearly average weekly is $9, for the first 40 weeks. This month (May) is lower and with the summer holidays approaching we know our projection will not be met. To continue to grow our parish community, we ask everyone to please help balance our budget and volunteer your time and talents. 5 The Most Holy Trinity Page 5 HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP NEWS The youth group will be ending the year with a family BBQ on Sunday, June 10, 2007 following the youth Mass. We will meet down on the school field for food, softball, food, volleyball, and more food. The more the better, so bring a friend. The parish is still looking for a few adults who are interested in helping to get the Junior High Youth Group off the ground. The High School group is growing because of the parent volunteers who are involved. We can do the same for the Junior High youth, but we need your help. Attention All Italian Catholic Federation Members: Please join your fellow members on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 in St. Teresa s Parish Hall at 6:00pm for our annual Fathers Day Potluck. One Night. One Community: By participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, August 18th and 19th at the Gold Country Fairgrounds, you honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to the lives lost to the disease, and raise money to help fight it all right in your community. The Knights of Columbus Council 6149 team will take turns (1 hr. segments) walking around the Gold Country Fairgrounds for 24 hours (9:00am to 9:00am). While people are walking, there will be entertainment, speakers, time to relax and reflect, support, and companionship. We need your help! We have lost a lot of brothers and family members to this disease. We want big participation in this event. We are signing up walkers and sponsors. St. Teresa s parishioners are needed to work a 2 hour period from 12:30PM to 2:30PM greeting shoppers and asking them for food contributions for the Food Closet to help them feed the hungry. If you are interested in helping, call Trish Jensen ( ) or Ellie Fiertl ( ). The number of people who come for food at the Food Closet has grown significantly since the first of the year. Thank you for your continued support of the Food Closet. Your contributions of food, money and volunteer time make it possible to serve those to come seeking our help. ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMISSION (CSAC) The Catholic School Advisory Commission (CSAC) for our parish school has at large vacancies to fill as several current members complete their terms of service to our school children. The CSAC provides advice and guidance to the school administration, formulates school policies, reviews school finances, promotes the school through marketing efforts, regularly inspects the school for safety issues, and strategically plans for the future. Terms of service are three years. Candidates must either be members of the parish community at large, or parents of students at St. Joseph Catholic School. If you are interested in volunteering your service to the children of our parish school, please call Fr. Mike Carroll at (530) Giggles: A little boy got lost at the local golf club and found himself in the women s locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, What s the matter, haven t you ever seen a little boy before? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ A little girl had just finished her first week of school. I m just wasting my time, she said to her mother. I can t read, I can t write, and they won t let me talk!
