We see faith without ignoring works, and we see the work of grace without ignoring strive (Reference: Lesson 1) 46. Biblical: All the doctrines of the Church are biblical. The Sacraments, intercession, the tradition, honoring St. Mary, the anointing by priests, the altar. are all based on teachings of the Holy Bible (Reference: Lesson 1) 47. The Epistle of Saint James talks about the Christian life of holiness and how we should behave as Christians. Saint James points out through the Epistle that we should persevere in the difficult and painful times and to show our faith by our behavior (Reference: Lesson 2) 48. a. Perseverance through the tough times b. Work and behavior that show the faith and complete it (Reference: Lesson 2) 49. Saint James gives us some tips on how to deal with these trials and they are all summarized in being doers of the Word. What that means is, we need to know the Word of God so well that every action we take is stemming from it. We need to keep our mouth for glorifying God (Reference: Lesson 2)
11 50. The Holy Trinity participated in the mystery of the Incarnation by different roles; the Father sent the Son who came to earth by the preparations of the Holy Spirit. The Son is the creator, as Saint John teaches us All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. (John 1:3), and the therefore it had to be Him that would restore the creation once more (Reference: Lesson 3) 51. a. Manifested God s love for mankind b. The first step in the salvation of man c. Renewed the fallen nature of man when the Son of God became man d. Taught man about God e. Presented the ideal example of human perfection (Reference: Lesson 3) 52. Saint Athanasius wrote 2 important books in his youth, Against the Heathen, and the other On the Incarnation of the Word (Reference: Lesson 4) 53. The council was convened in the year 325 A.D. to discuss the heresy of Arius and it was attended by 318 bishops along with Emperor Constantine. As a deacon, St. Athanasius accompanied Pope Alexandros to the meetings (Reference: Lesson 4) 54. It is when the person forces him/herself to walk on the path of spiritual life. The true spiritual life is for the man to love God, love the heavenly kingdom; and to walk in the life in peace, purity and righteousness in all willingness and to feel that his relationship with God is the fullness of happiness (Reference: Lesson 5) 55. The change must come by discipline. Since the love of God has not yet taken over the heart, forcing oneself is needed to start on the correct path. Without the love of God taking over the heart, the person needs to force themselves to pray, to elongate the prayers to put their feelings in these prayers. Force is needed to stay up at night and through the need of sleep to stand up for prayers. (Reference: Lesson 5)
