The Holy Spirit is alive and well here at St. Augustine s, thanks be to God! Our Lord inspired and called 23 young people to go through our RCIA Program. Seven were baptized, ten received first communion and confirmation and the remaining six professed their faith in the Catholic Church and then were confirmed and received first communion. These individuals, along with their sponsors, attended an RCIA class every Sunday night from October-April and completed weekly personal studies as they sought to grow deeper and deeper in knowledge and love of Christ and His Church. The group grew close as they also attended several retreats together throughout the year in preparation for becoming members of the Church at the Easter Vigil. RCIA is a special journey and those who go through the program are forever changed to live radically for Christ and seek to lead others to Him.

SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE Couples should meet with a priest at least eight (8) months prior to the wedding. We follow the requirements of the Diocese of St. Augustine in our marriage preparation program. 3 Around the parish Sanctuary Renovation: An Update from Fr. Marek As you already know from my message in last weekend s bulletin, the renovation of our sanctuary will begin very soon. This will involve some changes in our worship routine. Our desire to accomplish the renovation in a short period of time will require us to move our daily activities from the church to the lounge, giving the company space and time to complete the project. Our noon and Masses, our prayers and Adorations will be held in the lounge beginning Monday, May 23. Confessions will be at the regular time, in the confessional room in the back of the church. The altarpiece: from the inside The new altar: a work in progress The Vigil and Sunday Masses will be in the church, as usual. For the next few weeks we may expect a few inconveniences but the goal is to beautify our worship space. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. ~ Fr. Sure, some of us go, In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen. It s a mystery that we cannot understand as mere mortals. Enough said. But there are some profound aspects of the Trinity and God that help us understand who and what God is. Many Christians are locked in a childhood image of God the Father being an old man in heaven. At some point Jesus, his son, came along and then the Holy Spirit. We don t think about much deeper than that. We also acknowledge that God is love, pure love. If the Father existed by himself, there would be no one and nothing to love. He therefore couldn t be love. In the Nicene Creed, we state every Sunday that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. So Jesus has always been with the Father, but in a mysterious way, is also from the Father. And the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. So, God the Father begot Jesus before time, out of his love for him, and the Son loves the Father completely in return. The Holy Spirit is the perfect and infinite love between the Father and Son. The Trinity, thus, is a dance of infinite love in time and measure. So yes, God really is love, and there must be a trinity of the lover, the loved, and the love between them. It actually makes sense, but is still a mystery. What does this have to do with us? We are the stewards of God s love in his creation among his people. Our lives should mirror the perfect love of the Trinity. We should love without measure, we should receive the love of others, and we should be the active and powerful love between God and us and us and our brothers and sisters. So, on this Trinity Sunday, don t just make the sign of the cross and move on. May the beauty and mystery of the Most Holy Trinity transform our lives and relationships every minute of every day.
