1 OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) FROM THE PASTOR: The Year of Faith is something we will hear again and again over the next 14 months. It s a little more than a year, but how we observe it and enter into it may affect every year of our lives in the future. Besides the usual ways of celebrating and living our faith this year, we will have opportunities to know our faith more truly. The Catholicism Series by Fr. Robert Barron will be offered for our enrichment. This will help us answer some of the questions about our faith that surface in our day-to-day encounters. This series will start relatively soon. Later on in Lent, we will again have an Area Faith Community mini-retreat, or Mission. This is scheduled for March 16-19, Faith in Action is the key to a faith that gives us meaning and joy. There will be new opportunities for being involved in various meaningful ministries. The upcoming Ministry Fair, October 13 and 14, will be such an opportunity. Our recent Harvest Festival was a wonderful expression of faith in action on various levels. The final tally of fundraising results is coming out, probably next week. From preliminary examination, it looks like, in spite of great competition for people s time and presence, we think we have exceeded last year s good results. All this is good news and encouraging to those who worked so hard and gave of their resources. Another sign of a vibrant deep faith is a people who pray. My final encouragement and plea is that all of us become more faithful in prayer. Traditional forms of mass, rosary and adoration as well as other personal prayer forms that turn our hearts and minds toward God are very important. Prayer helps make sense of our often scattered and busy lives. It slows us down and helps us focus on the really important matters of our relationship with God and others. Blessings on you all, my friends.
