The Nicene Creed There are four main professions GOD the FATHER I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. 1 He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. GOD the SON I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. 2 GOD the HOLY SPIRIT I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. GOD in HIS CHURCH I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. 3 4
The Nicene Creed I Believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord.. maker of heaven and earth, of all thing visible and invisible What is God s invisible world? Our senses.
The Nicene Creed the giver of life Luke 1:35 And the angel said to her in reply, The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will over shadow you.
The Nicene Creed who has spoken through the prophets. John 14:26 The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name He will teach you everything and remind you of all I told you. Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness: for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes
The Nicene Creed How important is the holy Spirit? What did Jesus say? Mark 3:28-30 Amen, I say to you, all sins and all blasphemies that people utter will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an everlasting sin.
The Trinity the Christian doctrine on the nature of God The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord
Biblical References Matthew 28:19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit.
Biblical References 2 Corinthians 13:13 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the holy Spirit be with all of you.
First Biblical References Matthew 3: The Baptism of Jesus
The Heavenly Trinity firm God God God God the Father Creator Genesis 1.1 maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. God the Son the Word John 1:1 for us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven. God the Holy Spirit Helper/Councilor John 14:26 who has spoken through the prophets.

Church
This is Our Faith - pg. 99 Story - father, son and bundle of sticks Moral = in unity is strength Perfect image of the Church
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. ONE THE FOUR HOLY MARKS OF CATHOLIC THE CHURCH
one (CCC ) In its origin through the Holy Trinity (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit): Planned by the Father, the One God Old Testament events: Abraham, Moses, kingship of David Founded by the Son, Jesus Christ Fulfillment of the Father s plan, Good News of the kingdom of God, choosing the Twelve Apostles with Peter as the head, (CCC 766) total self-giving for our salvation Revealed by the Holy Spirit At Pentecost; early Church history - Acts of the Apostles / Gospel of the Holy Spirit
one (Ephesians 4:4-6) UNIFIED IN: One Body - all members, Jesus as its head, unaltered by the diversity of its members (CCC ) Faith - the full Deposit of Faith, taught since the time of the apostles Governance - under one leadership, the Holy Father (the pope) who is successor of Peter the Apostle Worship - the Mass, the Eucharist, the other sacraments
HOLY (CCC ; 867) people cannot make themselves holy. Only God can sanctify (make holy) a person through the Church. (This is Our Faith, pg. 107) In its founder, Jesus Christ, the Son of God In the Holy Spirit Christians are to strive to grow in holiness: the Gospel of Jesus, to become more like him, other-centeredness and self-sacrifice In the saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary: models of holiness, holy & human Members are imperfect sinners; in need of God s mercy and forgiveness; strive for perfect holiness Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
CATHOLIC (ccc ; 868) MEANING: universal according to the totality or in keeping with the whole. St. Ignatius of Antioch The Church proclaims the fullness of the faith: Gives us ALL we need for our salvation - a complete profession of faith, an ordained ministry traceable to the apostles, and the sacraments Is sent out to ALL peoples - infuses its traditions into a variety of cultures & languages Speaks to ALL men - Jesus message remains constant Encompasses ALL times - from Pentecost until the Parousia (Jesus second coming)
APOSTOLIC (Mt 28:19) Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit ONE HOLY (Mt 28:20) And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age. CATHOLIC CHURCH
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins Christian Baptism is rooted in the baptism of Jesus John the Baptist, God s Spirit as dove, unity with the Father, new relationship - His death and resurrection Through Baptism, the catholic Church is joined by other Church is joined by other Christians
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Belief in life after death - developed gradually Jesus' own resurrection - offered validation As Christians we believe we will share in this resurrection and glory!!!
(CCC ) AMEN. Believe May your Creed be for you as a mirror. Look at yourself in it, to see if you believe everything you say you believe. And rejoice in your faith each day (St. Augustine)
