1 A Message from our Grand Knight: Brother Knights, Happy Cross-Quarter Day, (Halloween). Halloween it s the fourth cross quarter day of the year. The 4 cross-quarter days in a year fall between the equinoxes and solstices. Halloween is the spookiest one, derived from a sacred festival of ancient Celts and Druids, coming as days grow short and nights long in the Northern Hemisphere. For us in the Northern Hemisphere, Halloween is the darkest of the cross-quarter days, coming at a time of year when the days are growing shorter. Early people once said that the spirits of the dead wander from sunset until midnight around this cross-quarter day. After midnight on November 1, which we now call All Saints Day, the ghosts are said to go back to rest. This brings me to my point, this month we will be celebrating our Annual Mass for the deceased members of our council. We begin our November monthly meeting with a Celebration Mass at Knight s Court and during the Prayers for the Faithfull we will read all the names of passed Brother Knights. We take this time to remember and honor those that have gone before us. I invite everyone who has had a member of their family as a Brother Knight, whether that be a husband, a father, a brother, a son or uncle to come celebrate with us. Being a Knight means that you have a heart of charity, and charity by definition is the voluntary giving of help, time and money to those in need. We as Knights need show love and honor to those that have given of their time, talent and treasure and to remember that we are, In Service to One, In Service to All. Vivat Jesus! 2 A Message from our Chaplain: Dear Brother Knights, As the leaves on the trees turn their vibrant colors and fall to the ground, we are reminded of our annual remembrance of All Souls during the month of November. On November 2nd, we had a special candlelight grade school Mass for All Souls and it was a prayerful, somber reminder to pray for all of our departed loved ones during this month. This also is an important month to visit our deceased relatives and loved ones in cemeteries and to foster this practice in our own lives and with our families. Fr. Fulton and I went to Calvary Cemetery on All Souls Day in the evening to pray for the dead buried there and it was powerful reminder of the importance of remembering our dead and our own mortality. We are only a few weeks away from Advent and it s not too early to start thinking of how we can spiritually observe this time of preparation and waiting. Reading through the Book of the Prophet Isaiah is a perfect book of the Bible to reflect on at this time. We plan on adding some more opportunities in the parish for Eucharistic Adoration during Advent. If you aren t signed up for a weekly hour of adoration in the parish, could you consider signing up for one of the many vacant hours we have available? Fr. Fulton is also planning a special time of prayer for men in the parish the last week leading up to Christmas. 3 KOC St. Teresa Corporate Communion The October 22nd, 8am mass was our council's Corporate Communion Mass, which is an opportunity for all the Knights of our Council and their families to sit and pray together in a show of unity and fraternity. Corporate Communions are a powerful sign of our fraternal solidarity. It provides a visible sign for the community to see the Knights gathered together. 3

4 KOC 4th Degree Honor Guard Pius X Football Game The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree was present at PARENTS NIGHT for the last home Pius Football game of the year against #1 Omaha North. They presented the colors. Great night for football! 4
