The next set f Walks are staring us in the face. Excitement is running strng! Team training sessins are ging great! And, peple are running arund at the last minute Signing up t wrk the Walks! Inviting pilgrims t g n the Walks! Wndering if there s still time fr them t g! It s the regular activity that surrunds each set f Walks. But each time I wnder, Why d peple wait s late t sign up t wrk? Why d peple wait s late t invite pilgrims t g? Why d peple wait s late t indicate interest in ging as a pilgrim? I knw the answer t the abve questins. It s because there s s much excitement engendered in and surrunding the Walks. Emmaus peple remember their Walk. They remember what it was like. They are reminded f what it can mean in a pilgrim s life. And, they think f a friend, a neighbr, a c-wrker, a fellw church member, r a family member. They think, If they can experience half as much as I experienced n my Walk, then it s wrth it. I remember being scared ut f my mind. I remember wanting t bail ut after the chicken sng n Thursday night ( De Clres ). I remember taking a Bible study curse with me and hping that I wuldn t be t bred n the weekend. I remember that I mwed the lawn right befre I left fr the Walk, had chiggers, and needed a bath badly (which I didn t get that night). But I als remember meeting new friends, sme f whm are dear t me this day. I remember learning new sngs, enabling me t wrship in the Spirit mre freely. I remember eating meals that were nt the regular camp fare. Three hmestyle, all-yu-can-eat meals that were t die fr tgether with snack agape all day lng and pull-dwn cke machines and flavred teas and cffees! I remember guys bearing their suls and pening their guts with persnal stries that tugged at my heart. I remember the crss at the Pint, Dying Mments, Candlelight, pening letters, and receiving my crss with the wrds, Christ is cunting n yu. When yu remember thse things, d yu get excited? The wrship service will begin at 7:00 PM and will be fllwed by fellwship and, f curse, fd. The bard meets at 5:00 befre each gathering. Candlelight wrship services are special gatherings that are held n weekends when we have a walk. Nte: Candlelight services begin at 8:00 PM. Afterward, we wait anxiusly t light ur candles, sing Jesus Jesus, see Gd at wrk in the pilgrims faces, and quietly g hme. If the answer is yes t each f these questins, yu need t begin having discussins and praying with him/her. The purpse f the Walk t Emmaus is t build leadership within the lcal church; therefre, it is imperative that the pilgrim be invlved in their lcal church. Applicatins are due t me n later than Thursday, September 10th. T cmplete the applicatin, I will need the fllwing items: pilgrim applicatin, spnsr applicatin, and a $35 depsit. If the spnsrship is fr a cuple, each spuse must be willing t attend the Walk. We have added sme "prtein" t the men's walk snacks, such as nuts, beef stick, and beef jerky. We need lts f items - 2-liters f pp, crackers, blck cheese, chips, dips, vegetables, fruits, hmemade ckies and fruit breads. Whether yu like t bake, r just have time t buy nnperishables, there are varieties f snack items t chse frm. Bth are made f Alder wd. Alder wd is used in making guitars, artificial limbs and cabinets. There is a ring at the tp f the crss s a wide r thin lanyard can be added t cmplete the neck crss. The current pewter neck crss was intrduced in 1988 s that is what mst f us have n ur lanyards. But the Upper Rm des nt wn the rights t the design r mlds f the pewter crsses. Chrysalis, Emmaus and Clergy Reginal Leaders chse the final design fr cmmunities t use natinwide.

4 Table Agape When I attended my Walk t Emmaus, my spnsr presented me with ne mre agape gift. It was a plastic "Agape" bx with a lid t stre all f the agape I had received n the walk. It was decrated with rainbws, rsters, and "De Clres" written all ver it. It was ne f my prized pssessins after the walk. I keep all my letters and gdies in it, and have gne thrugh it again and again. Since my walk 6 years ag I have served many times and I actually had t replace the bx with a bigger ne, s I handed my riginal ne dwn t my husband fr his letters and agape. My pint is this: I am s thankful fr all the reunin grups that send agape fr each set f walks. The gifts mean s much t the pilgrims, they literally light up when they see the tables. Nw the challenge is this: I challenge each and every reunin grup t send 2 t 3 agape gifts fr the men and wmen s walks. Oriental Trading, Hbby Lbby, and Wal Mart has tns f items t ffer. Yu can buy already made r if yu are f the crafty kind, make smething unique t yur grup. N matter hw small r large, it is always appreciated. Add a cute saying r a Bible Verse and yur reunin grup name. Remember a ttal f 130 pieces are needed fr each set f walks, that is 65 fr each walk. I knw that we can d it. Thanks fr all Yu D!
