Please consider donating a homemade or store-bought dessert for us to sell. Reflection in song prior to Mass Please join the St. Bernadette choir on Sunday, September 11, at 10:15AM, for fifteen minutes of reflection in song prior to Mass in remembrance of those lives lost fifteen years ago. Bible study at St. Catherine of Alexandria The bible study group will meet on the first Tuesday of every month from September through June, from 6:00 to 7:30PM, in the St. Catherine parish office. We will be studying the book of Exodus. Bring your bible, or a bible will be provided for you to borrow or purchase. St. Vincent de Paul The St. Vincent de Paul Society helps the people in our parish area with basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter. Our parish conference is part of an international Catholic organization bringing men and women together to grow spiritually by visiting anyone in need. During September, they are making an effort to become more visible, giving witness to one of the best things about our Church. Take the lowest place (Luke 14:8, 10). In fact, When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not invite friends, relatives, wealthy neighbors. Invite the poor, crippled, lame, blind, physically or figuratively, society s most vulnerable and marginalized, who cannot repay you (see Luke 14:12 14). Jesus seems to be telling us to prepare for eternity with God s chosen by becoming their friend here and now. Mercy is measured not by our delight in welcoming those we like most or who can repay us best, but by sincerely embracing those we like least, who cannot repay us at all. 4 The faculty of Northwest Catholic School recently attended the Seton Catholic Schools Academy. This professional development brought together over 200 teachers and school staff across nine schools for three days at the Cousins Center. Our teachers and staff discussed leading instructional practices and were challenged to keep growing. We are so refreshed, prepared, and excited for the start of the new school year! The Seton Academy was excellent. The sessions that we attended took us from the big picture, to a more focused effort on strategies that will help us accomplish our goals. We are excited!
