Call either parish for times and registration details. Proof of attendance should be presented to St. Vincent Church prior to the baptism. Marriages: Couples intending to mar r y should call at the r ector y at least SIX MONTHS prior to the marriage. It is required to have copies of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation records, if these Sacraments are not received at St. Vincent. Wedding times on Saturday are at 2:00 PM. Perhaps this is the most important message we can glean from today's readings. If Jesus, Mary, and Joseph can trip up sometimes--can disconnect--then we shouldn't find it surprising when such things happen to us as well. And parents everywhere (children, too) can probably relate to-- and take some solace in--the Gospel's account of Mary and Joseph after Jesus explained why he stayed behind in the temple. They heard his words, Luke tells us, "But they did not understand what he said to them" (Luke 2:50). Amen! Nevertheless, Jesus does go back home with them, and continues to thrive under their care. Help us to be willing to forgive ourselves and to forgive one another. As we begin a new year, remind us of our truest values and our deepest desires. Help us to live in the goodness that comes from doing what you want us to do. Help us to put aside anxiety about the future and the past, so that we might live in peace with you now, one day at a time. Fr. McNeil and the parish staff would like to wish a Happy New Year to all our parishioners and visitors. May the New Year be filled with many blessings, joy and peace! Please note: The parish office will be closed Thursday, December 31st and Friday, January 1st in observance of the holiday. Work until 5:00 and return to St. Vincent by 5: SkyMax in North Canton- Leave St. Vincent at 11:00. Arrive in North Canton at 11:30 to jump! $13 for an hour of jumping. Add $4 if you would like to go another ½ hour. Return to St. Vincent by 2:00 at the latest. If more than 14 attend, I will need parents to help drive. The St. Vincent Knights of Columbus will be holding a Knight at the Races on Saturday, January 16, In support of this effort please consider an ad for the Knight at the Races racing form. The ads are $25.00, $50.00, and $ respectively; all you need to do is to supply a business card or brochure and it can be placed into the racing form. A $50.00 ad will offer the extra publicity that comes with being a race sponsor; a $ ad will fill a whole page. Considering the inexpensive cost of these ads and the benefit to our parish, the good will to your company is not such a bad value. The scriptural Rosary and intercessory prayer will also be featured. We will discuss the challenges to our Faith and help one another become more dynamic Catholics. Upon finding him, his mother said, Son, why have you done this to us? What mother of a teen has not found herself in a similar situation asking this same question! And, upon hearing the son s answer also found like Mary and Joseph that, they did not understand what he said to them. Anxiety is normal in families-especially between parents and teens.
