2 Welcome! To Ashley White who joined by letter in the late service, Sunday September 22. She and her husband, Timothy have three children: Treylen, Jayce and Avery. To Ryan McIntyre who is joining by baptism. He was baptized by his grandfather at Teri Road Baptist Church on Sunday, September 15. His parents are Daniel & Stephanie McIntyre To Wes & Katie Kimple who joined by letter, Sunday September 29, in the late service. They have two daughters, Gwen and Abby. To David & Sharla Dean who recommitted their lives to Christ and joined by statement, Sunday September 29, in the late service. Sympathy Our Christian sympathy to the family of Cecilia Wilson in their loss. Our Christian sympathy to Phyllis Patterson in the loss of her mother, Oleta Roach. Our Christian sympathy to Lavenia Walkup in the loss of her grandmother, Irene Richey. PLEASE PRAY FOR POWER FOR AN OFFERING TO BUILD "WMW HOUSE" Total Given (so far): $44, WE NEED TO RAISE $48,000 IN ORDER TO BEGIN CONSTRUCTION. The Cardenas family is much loved. We've been connected to them for nearly 15 years. The mom is a hardworking single-mom who has legal status in the United States. The kids are outstanding, and are very active in our church ministry. The Housing Ministry and Alpha & Omega Class are raising funds to tear down the current unrepairable home which has leaks in many areas, and to build a simple house in its place. If God shakes loose funds--as you pray, you can give by marking your envelope: "WMW house" Please let these be miraculous funds that God gives in answer to prayer, or sacrificial funds, but don't diminish your support for Hays Hills ministry budget offering. New Members Class, THIS Sunday, October 6 2:00 PM, BLDG. E

4 From Jon Discipleship and Adult Education Discipleship Last Sunday was Discipleship Sunday, we discussed the three roles or types of discipleship, which are: 1. A Discipler - A (mature) Christian meets regularly with a newer Christian to help them understand what it means to be a Christian. This would include but is not limited to teaching them about the assurance of their salvation, the importance of baptism, how to have a quiet time, and how to study the bible. This is the milk of the Word 2. A Mentor - A (mature) Christian meets regularly with a newer Christian to help them apply the principles of Scripture to their lives. This would include but is not limited to teaching and demonstrating how to be the husband, wife or parent that God intended them to be, how to be blessed through serving, and how to be blessed through giving. This is the meat of the Word. 3. Accountability Partner - Two Christians meet regularly to encourage and strengthen each other. They agree to be honest with each other and give permission for the other person to confront them when necessary. It takes time to development the trust and confidence to be completely transparent with each other but once the partnership is established it will last a lifetime. We also heard testimonies from Tom Kiyuna, Cindy Rector, Vivien West, and Thomas Doebner. They each shared what it meant to them to be in a discipleship relationship. You can heard their testimonies at hayshills.com by clicking on News & Resources and then Other Videos We concluded the services by watching a video from The Skit Guys entitled God s Chisel. When God chisels the dead weight out of our lives it can be quite painful. In this new high quality, remastered version of their most requested skit, Tommy and Eddie give a very creative look at a typical believer having to go through the process of discipline. If you missed this video or would like to share it with someone, you can view it at: The following is a copy of a bulletin insert that provided the opportunity for each member to engage in a discipleship relationship with another Christian. Here is another chance for you to be involved. Just identify the type of relationship you would like to develop and send an with the request to jon@hayshills.com DISCIPLE I want to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a Christian and would like someone to disciple me. I wish to establish a firm foundation for my Christian walk. DISCIPLER I am available to disciple someone who wishes to be discipled. I understand that training will be provided if requested. Mentoree I have a good understanding of the basic principles of my Christian walk and would like someone to come along side of me to help me apply them to my life. Mentor I am available to mentor someone who wishes to grow in their Christian faith. I understand that training will be provided if requested. Accountability Partners I would like some help in finding an accountability partner. If you have any questions at all about discipleship, please contact me at jon@hayshills.com Your brother in Christ, Jon Lower
5 From Tim Greetings from the Worship and Music Ministry! Fall Family Gathering If you are a singer, I wanted to invite you to be a part of our Choir for the Fall Family Gathering on October 12 and 13. We will sing in the Sat. evening service, the Sunday morning early service, and the Sunday night service. You don't have to be a regular attender in our Celebration Choir to participate, you don't even have to be an adult. I am inviting our Jr. High and High School students as well as any Adult singers to come on Wednesday evening, October 9 at 6:45 in the Worship Ctr. for a rehearsal to prepare music for each of these services. Please come and use your talents on this important weekend for our church family. Steve Washburn will be bringing messages for us at each service and you don t want to miss a single one. Children s Choirs are in full swing again this fall and meet in Building A and Building C (depending on the age of your child). Building C is for K-1 st grade and Building A is for 2 nd grade 5 th grade. Each choir meets from 6:15 to 6:40 every Wednesday evening. Your children will get AWANA credits if they sign up each Wednesday when they arrive. Breakaway is now back in session in the Worship Ctr. on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. every week. This is our fine arts class for students 6 th grade through high school. We are focusing on black light shows this year and already have 3 different ones in the works. One will be featured at the PAC for our Easter 2014 community service. We would love to have your students get plugged in. The Symphonic Band has resumed rehearsals and we are in need of more players all around but especially in the following sections strings, brass (low and high), and percussion. If you play an instrument please come and join us on Sunday afternoons at our NEW time of 3:15 4:15. You will be out in time to attend Youth Activities or A.C.T.S. classes. Celebration Choir is now preparing for our 2013 Christmas Musical, Christmas Changes Everything, and if you are an adult singer we would welcome you being a part of this presentation on December 15 th. We do need you to attend rehearsals on Wednesdays in the Worship Ctr. at 7:15 in the choir loft. Come join us! Finally, I was privileged to lead the Celebration Choir and Praise Band in the presentation of Grace and I was very proud of them for the outstanding job they did. Thank you all for you hard work and effort you put into this presentation. Also, thank you to our congregation for you kind words of appreciation as well. I hope this inspired all of us to a new appreciation of God s amazing grace. Serving Him Together, Tim Snowden From Ken Administration Hi all. By the time you read this Cindy and I will in route to Yellowstone NP (our first time!). A special thanks to James Reynolds and Thomas Doebner for pinch hitting for me while I am gone. The existing sign will be demolished on Friday. The cross will be salvaged for future use. A temporary sign will be installed within the next few weeks. Please be careful with the lane closures as you come and go from the church. I am excited about the summary updates from each of our staff and ministry groups concerning how giving to the General Budget helps to further the Kingdom of God. Please be looking forward to these s once a week. I know that you will be blessed by reading them. This is all in preparation for November 17 a special day that we will vote on and approve the 2014 budget. We will also have a special day of giving toward the 2013 budget to end the year in the black. I am confident that God will provide in a miraculous way
