1 Grace changes everything DAVID & JONATHAN We exist to glorify and enjoy God by making disciples who make a difference through grace-filled worship, community, and missions.
2 Welcome Service of Divine Worship We are so glad you are here! A NOTE FROM OUR SENIOR PASTOR We re all at different stages in our relationship with God. He may be the priority of your life, it may have been a while since you connected with him, or you may be exploring these things for the first time. At McLean Presbyterian, we celebrate God s grace: Jesus came to give us life today and for eternity. This offer is made to us all; whatever your background, we re delighted you re here! We d love to connect with you this morning. Fill out the Hello! card and place it in the offering plate, then stop by our Welcome Center after the service. When you leave, head to your right to enjoy some coffee, meet new people, and learn how our church can become your home. May this morning be good for your soul! In his grace, JAMES FORSYTH, SENIOR PASTOR P.S. You re invited to join our pastors for lunch at one of our homes. Come get to know our families and other newcomers. Details and dates are at mcleanpres.org/lunch. FEBRUARY 18, :00AM, 10:45AM Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall We rest our hearts in God s presence as we prepare for worship CHORAL INTROIT LET US EVER WALK WITH JESUS Chancel Choir (Sanctuary) Let us ever walk with Jesus, follow his example pure, Through a world that would deceive us, where to sin our hearts are lured. Ever in his footsteps treading, living here, yet home above, full of faith and hope and love, Let us do our Father s bidding, faithful Lord, abide with me; Savior lead, I follow thee. Let us also die with Jesus, by his cross he conquered death,. Freed us from our soul s destruction, quickened us with life s new breath. Let us mortify while living, self and pride, and die to sin, and the grave that shuts us in Shall but prove the gate to heaven. Jesus, here I die to thee, there to dwell eternally. Let us gladly live with Jesus, he is risen from the dead. Death is swallowed up in victory, Jesus, thou art now our head. Living members of thy Body, where thou livest, we shall be, Thou wilt keep us constantly, so dear Lord, come quickly, Jesus, here I live to thee. There to dwell eternally. Let us ever walk with Jesus. Text by Sigismund von Birken, 1653; music by Georg Boltze, 18th cent.; arr. Dan Forrest, Hinshaw Music FOR YOUR FAMILY While you worship, your children will be loved and taught in an engaging environment. Classrooms are located on the lower floor; the nursing mothers room is on the left as you exit the Sanctuary. Jr. High (grades 7-8) meets at Cooper MS, 977 Balls Hill Road. Shuttles are available in front of the church. Visit the Family Welcome Desk downstairs or mcleanpres.org for schedules and details. Nursery is offered for ages 0-4 years at all service times. Chorus Changing lives through song and worship, changing lives through all we do, Changing lives through gifts of service, we sing this song for you. Rejoice, again I say, rejoice, rejoice! Rejoice, rejoice! CCLI Song # ; C. Wesley, J. Darwall, Arr. J. Vogan; 2008 Jeff Vogan; CCLI License # We acknowledge our need of forgiveness and renewal through the cleansing blood of Jesus God reminds us of his promise of forgiveness in Christ We enjoy and extend the peace of the gospel to one another YOU ARE MY KING I m forgiven because you were forsaken. I m accepted, you were condemned. I m alive and well, your spirit is within me because you died and rose again. Chorus: Amazing love, how can it be that you my King would die for me? Amazing love, I know it s true, and it s my joy to honor you. In all I do, I honor you. Bridge: You are my King. You are my King. Jesus, you are my King. Jesus, you are my King. Chorus CCLI Song # ; Words & Music by B. Foote; 1996 worshiptogether.com songs; CCLI License # CONFESSION OF SIN Father in Heaven, Giver of Life, we confess our sins to you. You left your throne and gave us yourself, yet we waste our time dwelling on the things we do not have. You have blessed us with countless good gifts, yet we turn our eyes in envy to the gifts you have given others. Forgive us for failing to see the priceless blessing we have in your Son. Forgive us for comparing ourselves to others instead of resting in the reality that we are your beloved children. As you surrendered your power and glory for our sake, help us now to surrender our hearts and lives to you. By your Spirit, guard us from the seeds of bitter envy that can ruin relationships. Help us instead to love others as you have loved us: mourning with those who mourn, and rejoicing with those who rejoice. In Christ s name we pray, Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON PSALM 103:11-12 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. GIVING OF THE PEACE Leader: Because Christ has removed our transgressions from us, we now have peace with God and with one another. May the peace of Christ be with you! People: And also with you! 3
