Acts 4:32 All that we are and all that we have is a gift from God! Think of your family, your friends, your talents and abilities these are all gifts from God. We aren t really owners of anything, we are merely stewards of the gifts God has blessed us with. That we may learn to see all of our blessings as abundant gifts from God so that we may use them for the benefit of all God s people. One of the first lessons we learn in life is the importance of sharing what we have. Whether we receive freely or give freely, sharing bring happiness to all involved. When the first Christians formed a community, they shared everything they owned. The followers of Jesus were not content with a personal relationship with their Savior. They craved a personal relationship with the community of believers. Some believers had more than others. Those who owned property or houses sold them and gave the proceeds to the leaders, who distributed the money to those who needed it. Those who had more realized they could live with less. Those who had less got what they needed to live. Today many Christians feel good if we tithe. If we give ten percent of what we earn to charities, we feel like we ve done our part. The first Christians did more. Much more. They gave until everyone in their community had the same. Share and share alike. Do you have more than you need of something? What would it take for you to give it away? All the early church needed was faith. Family Perspective By Bud Ozar To The Parents of Young Children, May we suggest. Relax! God put the wiggle in children; don t feel you have to suppress it in God s house. All are welcome! Sit toward the front, where it is easier for your little ones to see and hear what s going on at the altar. They tire of seeing the backs of others heads. Quietly explain the parts of the Mass and actions of the priest, altar servers, choir, etc. Sing the hymns, pray, and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you. If you have to leave Mass with your child, feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said, Let the children come to me. Remember that the way we welcome children in Church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in this house of worship. To The Members of Our Parish The presence of children is a gift to the Church and they are a reminder that our parish is growing. Please welcome our children and give a smile of encouragement to their parents. These are some suggestions found on a pew card and thought they could benefit our parishioners and families with young children In today s Gospel Jesus teaches, Blessed are those who have not seen and believe. Accepting someone as they are, without demanding they prove themselves or meet our expectations, creates a rich relationship. Without acceptance, a home is only a house and a family is just a group of house mates. Eucharistic Adoration I beg you to show the greatest possible reverence for the Eucharist through whom all things have been brought to peace and reconciled with Almighty God. They are $3.50 each and there is a variety to choose from including ham, turkey, cold cut combo, pizza, and ham or turkey croissants. Annual Parish Garage Sale The annual St. Patrick Parish Garage Sale will take place on April 23rd & 24th. The proceeds from the sale help fund maintenance and upkeep on the parish rectory. We would like to especially thank the Phil and Heidi May family for taking the time to organize the event and make the rounds throughout the weekend to collect the donations. This program has consistently supported people within our community and neighboring areas. Congratulations to Mike Steffes Jr. who has been selected as the Knight of the Month and to the Mike and Rhonda Steffes Family who were selected as the Family of the Month. We believe the family is the cornerstone of society. We believe all love, unity and peace begin here within the hearts of its members. We believe in fathers. We believe in their inherent ability to guide and direct their children. We recognize the selflessness and sacrifice they make in order to raise their children in dignity and self-esteem. We acknowledge that this often means a relinquishing of private hopes and dreams. We believe in mothers. We believe in their gentleness and loving ways. We believe in their ability to know what is right and good for their children even if the whole world tells them differently. We believe in parents. We believe that they will love, guide and rejoice in their children no matter what their appearance, abilities, and achievements are. We believe that they will accept children as gifts from God, and not as extensions of self. We believe in their ability to create a happy home where each member can find love, comfort and acceptance. We believe in their ability to stay together, play together, and pray together, no matter what the rest of society is doing. We believe that with the grace of God they can weather any storm, meet any crisis, solve any problem. We believe they can find the true meaning of love by laughing together, crying together, and supporting one another s efforts to find themselves. We believe that they can take this love, faith, and hope outside into the world and be the greatest and most powerful influence for good that exists today. We believe in the FAMILY.
