THE GRACE OF GIVING Be Joyful and Generous! 2018 THANKSGIVING GIFT has raised 19,013 from 170 contributors. Thank you to all who have helped to make this possible and allow us to continue to resource the Vision which God has given us. The summary of individual givings for 2018 will be published in March. BEREAVEMENT We regret to announce the death on 14th February of Mrs Kathleen Kirk, late of Rathmore Manor and extend our loving sympathy to the family circle at this sad time. SENIOR OUTING CINEMA TRIP Movie House, Glengormley to see Stan and Ollie on Tuesday 26th February. Meeting at the cinema at 10.30am film will start at 11.00am. To book a place, as they are limited, please contact Stacey Trimble or Gillian and If you require transport from the Church please contact the above. There is no charge for this outing.

3 VOTERS LIST A Voters List is being prepared for the election of the Congregational Committee. The draft list will be displayed at all the worship services on Sunday, 10 & 17 February. Please check the list if you think your name should be on it and any corrections should be notified to Paul Elliott, the Clerk of Session. The Code of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland defines those who are voters as follows: 175. (1) Voting members in the Church are communicants on the roll of the congregation who are listed, whether by name or number, as having contributed to the stipend or weekly freewill offering of the congregation in the last financial year. (2) In addition to those so listed the following shall also be qualified, if themselves communicants on the roll (a) A wife shall be qualified on a husband s contribution, and vice versa, where both are communicants. This shall also apply should the contributor himself or herself not be a communicant. If neither husband nor wife in such circumstances is a communicant, then their contribution shall qualify the eldest child, residing in the family, who is on the communicants roll. (b) Should a contributor, who is not a communicant, be a member of a family residing together, then his contribution shall qualify the eldest member residing in the family who is on the communicants roll. (c) Those who have been added to the communicants roll of the congregation since the close of the last financial year, upon confirmation by the treasurer that they have contributed during the current year, shall also be qualified voters. GIRLS BRIGADE Please note GB will not meet on Tuesday night as they are off for the half term break. CARNMONEY.ORG PW The next meeting of PW will be on Tuesday 19th February at 8.00pm in the upstairs meeting room. Henry Middleton will be telling us about his Mission to Mexico from where he has recently returned. He is working there with others as they care for the street children. All ladies welcome. DISCIPLESHIP COMMUNITIES The DCs meet this week in homes in Newtownabbey, Greenisland, Doagh, Ballyclare, Templepatrick and Belfast. Your group leader will be in touch with you to give you more information. If you d like to join a group, please contact Michael Wylie and he will help you find a suitable group. CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING WEDNESDAY 13TH MARCH AT 7.30PM IN THE COFFEE BAR. This is the basic Child Protection training that each leader must attend before they work with children and young people. The training will address the need for policies, guidelines and procedures in keeping children safe within church youth organisations. The training will also instruct leaders, on a step-by-step basis, how to deal with, and report, an incident or concern relating to a child or young person. If you are new to the role or last attended training more than 3 years ago, please make it a priority to attend. TRANSFORM: BIBLE STUDY FOR MEN Monday nights from 8.00pm. We meet upstairs in the church halls and all men are very welcome to come and join us. We will be finishing our walk through the book of Ephesians. WOMEN S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FRIDAY 1ST MARCH 2019 This year in the Newtownabbey area there will be only one meeting which will be held as follows: GLENGORMLEY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT AM. THEME: EVERYTHING IS READY This year s service has been prepared by the Christian women in Slovenia, which is one of the smallest and youngest countries in Europe, and we will be encouraged to reflect on the barriers they have faced since the end of the Second World War when their country was part of Yugoslavia, a Marxist socialist republic. The Day of Prayer is celebrated in over 120 countries. It begins in Samoa and prayer in native languages travels throughout the world through Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas before finishing in American Samoa some 38 hours later. So, ladies of Carnmoney, let us join in this celebration of prayer with so many women all around the world by making an effort to be present on Friday 1st March. Tea and coffee will be served afterwards so there will be a chance to have fellowship with ladies from nine other churches in our area. COFFEE MORNING IN AID OF NI CHEST HEART & STROKE Thunderdome, Glengormley Tuesday 12th March 10am - 12 noon 5 which includes tea/coffee/scone THE ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN COUNSELLORS RESOURCING PASTORAL CARE COURSE 2019 will be held in Christian Fellowship Church, 10 Belmont Road, BT4 2AN and will be facilitated by Jean Pillar and Lisa Martin. The course will commence on Tuesday 26th February until 2nd April, 7.15pm pm this will include Saturday 2nd March (3 sessions) and Saturday 9th March (3 sessions) 10 sessions in total. This course will equip you to be a member of a Pastoral Care Team within your church, community or workplace. It will also improve your pastoral skills as you pastor people in the role of church leader, elder, organisational leader or in everyday pastoral situations which you may encounter. We really appreciate your help. We are still looking for volunteers for our Carnmoney Distribution Centre. You are welcome to shadow a team at work in the Distribution Centre and in the Warehouse. Talk to Flo Burns or Moni Wilson. CAP Job Club will continue on Thursday. We start with a cuppa and chat at 10.00am and finish off with a light lunch at 1.00pm. It s in the youth centre of our halls complex and is FREE. CAP JOB CLUB is for anyone looking for a job. We help build up self-confidence, improve interview skills, writing CVs & filling in application forms, give insight to what employers look for in the recruitment process. Computers, free wifi and paper & printing is available. Please tell anyone you know who might benefit from Job Club about the course. There are posters and information in a box on the desks in the church vestibule and foyer of the halls complex. New volunteers are always welcome. Prayers are invaluable.
