2 SCHOOL OF MINISTRIES LEVEL I SEPI (Southeast Pastoral Institute) SCHOOL OF MINISTRIES PARTICIPANTS: To respond to the needs of training and leadership of the Hispanic community in our diocese, along the SEPI (Southeast Pastoral Institute) we offer a program of 10 courses during an average year and a half year. CERTIFICATION To receive the certificate of Hispanic Pastoral Ministry of the Southeast Pastoral Institute (SEPI), attendance is required at all courses scheduled over a two-year cycle. A total of 150 hours of theological and pastoral preparation required.. Attendance is the responsibility of the local community. I. Courses The entire program consists of 10 courses and are taught for two years at a rate of one every two months. Each course consists of 15 hours of instruction and 150 hours in total are theological and pastoral preparation. Every student should have the ability to speak, listen, read and write Spanish Christian Mission Today (15 hours of classes) Course Description: Overview of the Christian walk with reference to the anthropological foundations, called the alliance, ecclesiology and current models of pastoral ministry in the context of the situation of Hispanic national and local level. The Bible and Pastoral application: The Old Testament (15 hours of classes) Course Description: The Revelation of God as a liberating experience for the people of Israel (Old Testament), to experience the historical Jesus and the Christ as expressed in the early Christian community. (New Testament) and developed in the ecclesial community. Interpretation of this experience within the framework of human existence. Ecclesiology: The Mission of the Church (15 hours of classes) Course Description: ecclesiological models suitable according to recent documents of the Church; what this implies for a diversification of ministries in a Church of communion and participation; theological guidelines that guide the ministry, reasons for the development of new ministries and models for restructuring ministry Christology: Jesus Project (15 hours of classes) Course Description: Study of the person of Jesus and his community of faith paragraph discover their implications in following Jesus today. 3 The History of the Church in the US (15 hours of class) Course Description: Catholicism in the United States since his Spanish roots and its reception by the natives; Development of evangelization in the southeast; Non-Catholic and Puritan traditions as influences on its Anglo-Saxon roots; Developing Consciousness and Hispanic ministry within the UN increasing cultural pluralism in the Church. For Hispanic Pastoral Ministry (15 hours of classes) Course Description: Issues and methodologies in pastoral theology and its applications in the religious and social context of the local Spanish situation. Review of documents relating to the evangelization of Hispanics in the US Sacraments and Liturgy (15 hours of classes) Course Description: sacramental theology and liturgical implications; Special emphasis on liturgical creativity in the sacraments of initiation within the existing rules of the Church. Pastoral methodology (15 hours of classes) Course Description: Focuses on how to work the ministry in the Hispanic community following the III National Congress and the National Pastoral Plan; special emphasis on the development of useful skills to ministry and practical issues within the parish and diocesan ministry. Small Christian Community (15 hours of classes) Course Description: The role of basic ecclesial community regarding the ecclesiology of Vatican II. Process and development of these small communities and their relations with the apostolic movements; his missionary and ministerial aspects. An essential element of this course is an active participatory methodology. Evangelization techniques (15 hours of classes) Course Description: scriptural foundations of the evangelizing mission of the Church and its historical development. Relations between the Gospel, culture and expressions of faith found in the spirituality of Hispanics. Particular emphasis on guidelines for the evangelization of Hispanics in the US LEVELS II / III Leadership I (15 hours of classes) Course Description: In recent years there has been great importance to the issue of leadership, especially in the business world. The rationale and the horizon of our Christian pastoral leadership is rooted in God himself, thus taking anthropological basis as soon as studying, we try to find guiding principles and guidelines for action to help us give a new dynamism to our leadership as Hispanic Pastoral agents.

4 Faith and Culture (15 hours of classes) Course Description: In the exercise of our pastoral work we are often with questions like: why say Mass in Spanish? Is a specific pastoral care for Hispanic Americans needed? We do not pretend to have all the answers, but to reflect on the way the culture and faith are related, in the light of the teaching of the Church and what they tell us the humanities. We see the meaning of terms such as "inculturation", "assimilation", "integration", "multiculturalism", etc., and try to establish a series of pastoral principles that help us create a more enlightened faith and a Christian culture. Psychology (15 hours of classes) Course Description: To understand people need to know how the human mind works, and psychology helps us to it. This knowledge is particularly necessary for those working in the catechesis of young children. The course will provide the basic principles of evolutionary psychology. But since we are all different, we can say that the pastoral needs at all levels one anthropological-psychological basis to be established on solid ground. The foundations of human type will be explained, and applications to the ministry. Sociology (15 hours of classes) Course Description: Sociology is a science that describes and analyzes the processes of human life in society. Studying human relations. It helps us understand the identity of groups and social changes. People have a way of being and working, and so does human groups. It is a science that has direct application in the ministry, since it allows a better understanding of the functioning of the groups, and helps establish the best strategies for success in the pastoral processes Group dynamics (15 hours of classes) Course Description: This course is a continuation of the previous application or practice. Not enough to know how groups work; we can use certain techniques to achieve behavior modification. This course will train participants to pretend as facilitators of groups with a pastoral intention, using the most modern techniques and experienced. This is a theoretical and practical course, where it is expected that participants are willing to learn "dynamically", ie, through action. Communication Skills (15 hours of classes) Course Description: Communicating means being able to listen, and be able to express themselves, using various types of language (oral, written, signs, graphics...). During some effective techniques are taught to give and receive messages more clearly, and maintain interpersonal relationships mature, the relationship between our personality and our way of communicating... The course invited to reflect on traditional ecclesiological models and their corresponding ministerial practices. Deepened in the Church- Communion model, with its implications, prospects and opportunities in the Hispanic world. Pastoral Planning (15 hours of classes) Course Description: Planning is a process by which we define clearly what we want to achieve, identify the path we must travel to get to achieve what we set out and organize the route of the road. With the course aims to help pastoral agents to understand the process, know how to carry it out, make action plans, evaluate and improve them if you already have. We serve as referenda National Hispanic Pastoral Plan in the United States (1987 Vatican Council II Course Description: With this course we want to offer a guided reading of the documents of Vatican Council II. The knowledge of the conciliar documents is a must for anyone who wants to understand the essence of the Church today, and where to walk. This course has been prepared with the intention of helping all the people who have a basic knowledge of theological and church issues, and wants to expand. Catechism of the Catholic Church Course Description: Many Catholics do not know the Catechism of the Catholic Church, while seeking training or answers to many questions about faith. This course is intended to help to walk in the path of what the Church teaches, as the basis for the Christian life. Social Doctrine of the Church Course Description: This course is an aid to reading, understanding and reflection of the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church (2004). Any Christian who wants to live their faith fully, with all the consequences, must know and practice the teachings of the fundamental documents of the social teaching of the Church before and after Vatican II New Testament I & II Course Description: To understand the event of Jesus of Nazareth and his movement, it is good to remember the historical, social, political and religious context in which it appeared. This course will help you understand exactly what the author wants to say in his writings and modes of thinking and expression which is then used to employ in time writer. We will approach this subject from the Bible, from the official teaching of the Church, and from the popular tradition. Moral Theology Course Description: In this issue we will deal with some concepts we use in our normal, such as moral, ethical, Happiness, Freedom, Consciousness, Sin vocabulary. The moral is facing multiple specific issues that require decisions on our part. Hispanic Popular Religiosity Course Description: Anthropology and popular religiosity of Hispanic people (3) Anthropological study of human response to the word of God within the cultural structure; characteristics and peculiarities of the Hispanic people in its history, socio-economic and religious within the dominant culture experiences; her response of faith in the traditions, customs and religious symbols.
