1 The Holy Spirit, the Word, and Prayer Main Text For The Week: "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God" (Romans 8:26, 27,KJV). Read and Meditate on these Texts: John 15:7; Matthew 7:7; Psalm 66:18; James 1:6-8; 1 John 5:14, 15; Acts 2:38. Main Thought For The Week: Let us think of the Word of God as a Lamp (Psalm 119:105); the Holy Spirit is symbolized by the Oil(Hebrews 1:9); and the Wick represents Prayer which connects us to the Oil, to Christ the Living Word so that we can produce Light to shine and dispel the darkness of sin and evil. The Word of God (Bible) and Prayer are two powerful weapons in the Christian s armory that, through the divine power of the Holy Spirit, enable us to fight the victorious fight of Faith. P a g e 1 8

(John 16:13; Luke 11:13) _ THOUGHT: Praying for the Gift of the Holy Spirit is the single most important privilege that the Christian is entitled to. When we have the Spirit of the Living God, every other gift will be at our disposal. Will you make a commitment right now, to start pleading to God for a fresh and full outpouring of the Holy Spirit? It is through prayer that we connect to the supreme source of Spiritual Power. It therefore means that without prayer, we would have no vital link to God. 1. How would you advise a new believer, from the Bible, who asks you to explain how prayer works? (Matthew 6:5-13) _ 2. Satan tempts us through our senses. Can we trust our senses, or is there something else we should trust? (Hebrews 4:12) 3. Do you think that God would give someone who practices secret sin, the gift of the Holy Spirit?
