Basic Truth: Jesus wants to be my friend forever. The extended toddler curriculum provides older toddlers with the Bible Truth and craft element that some are ready to experience before they enter the twos. The same Bible Truth will be told in four (or five) different ways throughout the month allowing for the repetition toddlers need and crave. 2 Toddlers CHRISTMAS EVE 2018 December 24, 2018 Bible Time What You Need: Preschool Bible, Sequence Activity Pages, and painter s tape What You Say: I want to tell you about the very first Christmas! You can read all about it in the Bible. (Hold up Bible.) Actually, I want YOU to help me discover the truth of the very first Christmas. Are you ready? I have all the pictures that will help us right here. Let s put them on the table. Which one goes first? Yes! An angel told a woman named Mary she would have a baby. This baby was going to be a VERY special baby. His name was Jesus! Let s hang that picture on the wall first. Now, which picture goes next? Yes! Mary and Joseph going to the town of Bethlehem. Let s hang that one on the wall. Right before the baby was born, Mary and her husband, Joseph, had to go to Joseph s hometown of Bethlehem. What comes next? You are so smart. Mary was about to have the baby, so they needed to find somewhere to stay and fast. Mary and Joseph had to knock on doors to find a place to stay. Let s hang up the picture of the door. They knocked and knocked and knocked but couldn t find anywhere to sleep. Where did they find to sleep? Which picture? Yes! The stable! FINALLY, a man told Mary and Joseph that they could stay the night in his stable with all the animals, like chickens and sheep! Let s hang up the picture of the stable. Can you sound like a chicken with me? And there might have been cows. Can you sound like a cow with me? Moo. (Add animals to the stable.) Who was born in the stable that night? Yes! Jesus was born in the stable that night. We can hang up His picture here at the end. Even though Jesus is SO special, He was born right there in the stable where animals live. (Add Jesus.) It was the very first Christmas. That is why we re celebrating Jesus. Christmas is all about Jesus birthday. Yay, Jesus! Jesus is special because [Bottom Line] Jesus is God s Son. Why is Jesus special? Jesus is God s Son! (If there is time or desire, take the pictures down and repeat the Bible Truth.)

Basic Truth: Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Craft Time Gather small groups of children around you at a table for toddler craft time. Depending on the size of your group, you may lead the craft two or three times. Not every child may want to participate in craft time. That s OK. Feel free to send home the craft materials for them to complete with their mom or dad. What You Need: Bookmark Activity Page, and toddler crayons What You Do: During the Activity: Retell the Bible Truth as the children use dot markers to color the bookmark. What You Say: During the Activity: This month, we are celebrating that God sent us a special baby. His name is Jesus! [Bottom Line] Jesus is God s Son! God sent an angel to tell Jesus mom, Mary, that she was going to have a baby. And the angel told her to name her baby Jesus. When it was almost time for Mary to have the baby, she had to go to the town of Bethlehem with her fiancé, Joseph. When they got to Bethlehem, the town was full and there was no place for them to stay. An innkeeper told Mary and Joseph they could sleep in the stable outside. A stable is where animals are kept. While they were in the stable, Mary had her baby. God s Son, Jesus, was born. Look at your fun bookmarks! They say: Happy Birthday Jesus! Tomorrow is Christmas day, the day we celebrate Jesus birthday. Let s decorate our bookmarks so we can take them home to remember that Christmas is Jesus birthday. Happy birthday, Jesus! After the Activity: We celebrate Jesus birthday on Christmas day. We celebrate Jesus because Jesus is God s Son. Why is Jesus special? [Bottom Line] Jesus is God s Son!

Basic Truth: Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Playtime Three, Two, One What You Do: Gather children around you. Crouch down and say, Three, two, one. Then, stand and yell, Jesus is God s Son. Continue as long as there is interest. What You Say: Friends, come and play with me. We re going to crouch down like this. Can you get low? Good job. Now, we re going to say, three, two, one, and then throw our hands up and yell, Jesus is God s Son. Are you ready? Here we go! Three, two, one. Jesus is God s Son. Yes, He is!
