1 V I N E L I N C O L N, N E B R A S K A ST. JOHN THE APOSTLE MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI FOR THE WORLD MISSION SUNDAY 2011 As the Father has sent me, even so I send you (Jn 20:21) On the occasion of the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000, at the beginning of a new millennium of the Christian era Venerable John Paul II forcefully reaffirmed the need to renew the commitment to bear the proclamation of the Gospel to everyone, sharing the enthusiasm of the very first Christians (Novo Millennio Ineunte, n. 58). It is the most precious service that the Church can render to humanity and to all individuals who are seeking the profound reasons to live their life to the full. This same invitation therefore resonates every year during the celebration of World Mission Day. Continuous proclamation of the Gospel, in fact, also invigorates the Church, her fervour and her apostolic spirit. It renews her pastoral methods so that they may be ever better suited to the new situations even those which require a new evangelization and enlivened by missionary zeal: missionary activity renews the Church, revitalizes faith and Christian identity, and offers fresh enthusiasm and new incentive. Faith is strengthened when it is given to others! It is in commitment to the Church's universal mission that the new evangelization of Christian peoples will find inspiration and support (John Paul II, Encyclical Redemptoris Missio, n. 2). How well do you take care of your relationship with God? How often do you take time to be with God in It is the tradition of the Church to make reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on First Fridays. We have been concentrating on adoration on First Fridays when we have Exposition of the Eucharist from after the 8:15 am Mass until the evening 5:30 Mass. It is important that we have at least two adorers for each hour when we have Exposition. The weekend before each First Friday we have a sign-up sheet in the atrium of the church for parishioners to see which hours are filled and which are vacant. They can sign for an hour accordingly. We also welcome adorers to take an hour any day of the week. You may select an hour convenient for you. We ask that you sign in at the book on the podium near the St. Joseph statue. (This allows others to know which hours have an adorer.) You may take your place in the adoration area on the right of the sanctuary where you are close to the tabernacle, or you may remain in the main body of the church - anywhere you are comfortable. We encourage new adorers to check the sign-in book to see which hours do not have an adorer. We would like to extend the number of hours that are filled.

5 THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 23, 2011 pg 5 ur Lady of Fatima requested us to O pray the rosary daily for peace and the conversion of Russia; also to receive communion on five consecutive First Saturdays in reparation for sin. Members pray one assigned decade of the rosary daily and attend Mass on the First Saturday of each month if possible. This is not binding under pain of sin, even venial sin. It is a source of grace to those who participate. Members dedicate their prayer to two purposes: that those who had never had faith receive it, and those who had abandoned the faith return to it.
