3 Kirkwood Baptist Church St. Louis, MO Kirkwoodbaptist.org Job Description Associate Pastor of Students and Community Engagement PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS: Lead Kirkwood Baptist Church in a comprehensive ministry to students. Provide leadership and coordination of Kirkwood Baptist Church community engagement efforts. JOB SUMMARY: This ministerial position exists to provide a ministry which nurtures faith in, and builds faith community among, KBC s students. Additionally, it also serves to provide leadership for KBC community engagement efforts. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Lead and coordinate the Sunday Evening Youth Gathering (called Sunday Night Live ). Sunday Night Live includes a Bible or topical study designed to nurture faith in Christ, and build community among, the youth while creating an inviting and fun environment. 2. Explore the concept of a mid-week Student Gathering(s), which is focused on relationship building and involvement in missions and ministry. 3. Lead and coordinate, at least once a month, activities which foster and encourage student relationships with one another and with adults in the congregation and with the civic community. 4. Foster caring relationships with student families. 5. Lead and coordinate other activities (examples: mission trips, camps, lock-ins, retreats, fellowships, youth-led worship services, recreational events, and fundraising for student missions) that provide students a context in which to explore faith and to build faith community. 6. Offer guidance and direction to the Youth Ministry Team (comprised of representatives of youth and their adult leaders). 7. Offer guidance and support to volunteer adult leaders of students researching the possible curriculum choices for the Sunday School teachers. 8. Coordinate and/or lead the KBC community engagement efforts and maintaining already established local partnerships i.e. Staff Liaison for Hands on Kirkwood, Communicating with Kirkcare Director, etc., while also developing new engagement efforts. 9. Assist in providing pastoral care to the church, especially to students and their families. This will be done in coordination with the Senior Pastor and Deacons. 10. Provide primary staff coordination to church committees and organizations as assigned by the Senior Pastor in coordination with the Administrative Staff. For example, staff liaison to the Ministry Council. In addition, during the summer, the Minister of Students and Community Engagement will: 1. Accompany the youth on choir tour if a tour is happening that year. 2. Coordinate, participate in, and provide direction for, Youth Camp(s), including such experiences as Passport Camp and focused camping experiences for various age groups within the larger youth group.

4 3. Coordinate, participate in, and provide direction for, Senior High Youth International Mission Trip. 4. Coordinate, participate in, and provide direction for faith enrichment and learning experiences for the students of the church. STAFF RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Responsible for overall effectiveness to the Senior Pastor as immediate supervisor and the Personnel Committee as representatives of the church body. 2. Responsible for cooperation with the Associate Pastor for Education Ministries in areas of shared ministry to youth and children. 3. Responsible for collegial relationships with other staff ministers and with lay leaders. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A Christian, committed to the Baptist expression of Christian faith, and a member of a Baptist church. 2. Takes initiative in completing assigned tasks and looks for additional work to be done. 3. 5 Description Lazarus Table Program Manager (Part -Time) Lazarus Ministries is a faith based nonprofit housed at Linwood United Church. Our mission is to offer unlimited compassion while providing for the unmet needs of Kansas City s urban core. Outreach programs include: Lazarus Boutique providing free clothing and necessities, a FREE Medical Clinic, a Dental Extraction Clinic, and our cornerstone program, Lazarus Table. Through Lazarus Table we have been providing weekend meals to the homeless and hungry for over 21 years. Lazarus Ministries has an opening for a part time Lazarus Table Program Manager (approximately 20 hours per week). This position has several crucial roles both behind the scenes and as a representative of the organization to the public. Management skills are required that assure a successful outcome to the meal from start to finish. 8 Kamp Kaleo (Burwell, Nebraska) is looking for Resource Team Members for the 2018 Summer Season Resource Team (RT) is the primary program staff, working under the supervision of the Camp Administrator and with Camp Directors, Counselors and Campers during each camp week. There are a variety of roles including, but not limited to, lifeguarding, driving for off-site activities, activity planning and coordination, and safety/rules oversight. Resource team members are to: Be role models for campers and counselors Be self-starters, energetic, able to think on their feet Be organized and able to plan and coordinate a variety of programming Interface well with a variety of people of all ages Lead games, singing, tye-dying and other activities Have an excellent driving record and pass a background check RT reports for duty on May 21st for a week of on-site training and getting the camp ready for campers. The first camp begins May 29, The last camp ends on July 19; the last day of work for RT is July 25. After camps are over, the RT inventories supplies, puts final touches on cleaning the camp, and evaluates the summer. Days off include most Saturdays (except June 2) as well as July 2-6. This is an excellent PAID internship opportunity for those seeking to go into a variety of careers including Christian ministry or positions in the camping field. Renumeration includes a stipend of $3,200, housing, laundry facilities and all meals during scheduled camps. Established in 1965, Kamp Kaleo is a year-round camp/conference/retreat center located two miles east of Burwell, Nebraska, on State Highway 91. with over 250 acres of meadows, wetlands and woods with a mile and a quarter river frontage on the North Loup River. The summer church camping programs are overseen by the Youth and Outdoor Ministry Committee (YOMC) of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska and the United Church of Christ-Tri Conference (Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa). In addition to church camps, RT will work with special needs camps such as Adventures in Community, catering to developmentally disabled adults, the Lions Camp for hearing and visually impaired youth people, and Burn Camp for young people who have suffered burn injuries.
