Amazing Grace Nazarene Church Statistics The church enjoyed a time of plateau and comfort from There were times of growth and decline, but overall the church averaged about 22 in attendance. Amazing Grace Nazarene Church Statistics The departure of the long term pastor and the starting of the Cowboy Church resulted in a season of growth between the Mother and Daughter Churches with both churches ministering to over 3 people each week. Amazing Grace Nazarene Church Statistics The Mother Church suffered some of the pains of child birth by sending about 5 people to other places. Some were sent to the new church and others were sent to other places. This sending resulted in the mother church settling into an average attendance of about
Amazing Grace Nazarene Church Statistics The result of starting a new church resulted in more people coming to Christ, but it also resulted in a time of searching and seeking for the Mother Church. Much of the past 3 years has been looking back and only recently has the church begun to look forward and is now positioned to capture a new day. Amazing Grace Nazarene Church Statistics The timing of the intentional Vision 2/2 could not have been better. This is the time for a new day at Amazing Grace. 24 General Observations 1. The church has made the transition to the new pastor well and is ready to embrace a new future. 2. The church is comfortable and any vision forward will have to compelling, clear and communicated well. General Observations 3. There is not agenda harmony concerning the purpose of the church. The church circled the wagons during the transition and in many ways they have become comfortable looking inward. It will take a vision that is clear and a pathway that makes sense to get the wagon moving again. General Observations 4. There is a significant lack of awareness of the needs of the community, and several of the changes sought are inward issues not based on the needs of the community. There is a need to develop an outward focus. 24
First Impressions: 1. Worship Service The greeters were friendly and engaging. There was good energy during the pre-service time. The flow of the worship included nearly 2 minutes of standing at the beginning of the service. 1. Worship Service First Impression The sound was a challenge with echo and background noise during the music portion of the service. The size of the worship center resulted in people being spread out and it was a challenge to get a sense of community and togetherness. First Impression Conclusions: 1. Worship Service The preaching connected with people and there was strong participation and response to the message 25
First Impression Conclusions: 2. Website The church website is very attractive and well done. It would be helpful to include pictures of people who actually attend the church, especially of activities, facility and worship. This Sunday link still had June 26 listed. First Impression Conclusions: 2. Website It would be great to have a way for people to submit prayer requests in the prayer section. It is available in the resource section. The site has good interaction pieces with the ability to sign up for groups, ministries, prayer requests and to give online. First Impression Conclusions: 3. Social media The church has a Facebook page with 254 likes. The page is used regularly with informative information and advertising. It would be helpful to increase the number of likes and the reach of the page. 26
First Impression Conclusions: 3. Social media It would be helpful to have your social media links on the website to encourage use and participation. Using pictures and giving updates and reports would help make the page more interactive. First Impression Conclusions: 4. Bulletins/Printed Material Attractive bulletin with good layout and right sized, readable fonts. Attention should be given to ensure a bulletin and other printed material is guest friendly and does not include insider language. This is especially true under the Ministries section. First Impression Conclusions: 4. Bulletins/Printed Material Care should be given to make sure every announcement answers the basic questions of Who, What, Where, When and Why. Make sure people know how to get additional information. 27
Summary of Conclusions Page 26 of report Recommendations Page 35 of the report Overall Observations: 1. The church has navigated the journey of pastoral transition, helped launch a new church and now has adjusted well to a new pastor. The church is now ready to embrace a new future. Overall Observations: 2. The last 3 years or so has been one of the church catching its breath. As a result many have become comfortable and content. The focus has been inward in many ways. Most would agree the church is in a good place. 3. There is a danger of the current comfort level becoming the desired future and the church settling for good when great is possible. 28
Overall Observations: 4. Decisions made during the process of determining God s next for the church will be critical if the church is to move from inward focus to outward focus, from self-care to being a missional presence in the community. Overall Observations: 5. We affirm the leadership s decision to partner with the district and NCS to journey together through the vision process of finding God s heart for your church. Questions 29
