3 Rodney Cavett President INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION 260 Continental Dr Lewisville, TX Fax: Phone: Web Site: July 26, 2011 Dear Bob Moberg and the Witness Team, Earlier this year, Lily prepared the reports to be sent to you. She did her work, but I failed to do my part to completed the information and have it sent to you. You were very kind to remind me of needed reports. At that time, I was in Santiago, Chile and said that I would have the reports to you on Tuesday, July 10. On Friday last week, I had one of those pit in the stomach moments that when I realized this information had not been finalized or sent on to you. Please forgive me for poor reporting. I understand that there is no excuse and will work on a different plan to keep you updated in the future. The IC team of Mark Stovall and Larry Gardner do an excellent job working with Edward and all the African leaders. Their work includes training and equipping him for the work and holding him accountable for his ministry work which includes reporting to us. Each month Edward sends us reports from each project he has conducted. In May of this year, IC sent Edward to Kenya to attend the training that William Fondo holds for all of his promoters. William also spent extra time with Edward helping him to understand how to do better preparation in West Africa. It was an excellent time of training and fellowship for Edward. International Commission, Edward and I thank you for your partnership with us and for the financial support that South Canyon Baptist Church provides for Edward. Also, let me express my appreciation for the work you and the Witness Team do in overseeing and sending out the wonderful message of grace and salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ. This year your partnership with Edward has resulted in 19 national to national projects being conducted. This booklet contains reports from these projects. In these 19 projects 135 churches received a team made up from 366 participants from West Africa. In the projects 12,668 men, women and young people have indicated that they prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. Also, preparation is being made for an international project in which Americans will join other nationals to work in Freetown, Sierra Leone November 3-10 this year. This is part of a testimony from Korkoima, Sierra Leone Project conducted last September. We attempted visiting them again but this time with enough evidence about Jesus and His death on the cross. After a number of convincing biblical and scriptural presentations she said knowing Jesus is the best that would happen to any one. I now believe in this Jesus. As we ministered to her she said to us, I believe in Jesus. Right were we are she prayed to receive Jesus as Lord. Praise the Lord. You are a blessing to Edward Dumbuya and the Lord s work in Sierra Leone and other countries in West Africa. I ask you to prayerfully consider continuing your ministry partnership and financial support of Edward in your upcoming budget. Please contact me about any question you might have. For His Glory, Rodney Cavett, President 2

6 STORIES FROM THE FIELD 1. A FARMER We visited a farmer with his wife and five children all boys. We discussed to the husband and father of the family who was just coming from a day s work. We had discussion with him about the love of Jesus and how he died for our sins. After some deep explanation from scriptures he understood but asks that he explain to the rest of the family how Jesus died for our sins. We made it very clear that each would have to stand before the judgment seat one day to give account. He did explain in detail and ask the rest of the family if they want to give their life to Jesus. They all answered in affirmation. Right at the farm hut the 8 of them prayed to receive Jesus. 2. HOW DO I KNOW I AM SAVED? A boy of about 17 years in one of the villages surrounding the crusade area came to one of the team with a question, How do I know I am saved. One of the team members Bro. Mattia took time to explain to him about the peace that permeate the individual after he or she is saved and the desire to know more about Jesus and His word. He was told there is several steps first which helps to facilitate him to experience a saved life. After several explanations he was willing to give his life. Right at that moment he prayed to receive Jesus. CONCLUSION The victory rally was conducted at the New Life Church in Bissau. We saw about 379 in attendance. The pastors, church leaders are all grateful to the sponsors of this crusade. May the Lord bless you all? Faithfully submitted Edward Dumbuya 5

8 4. Wellingara Church of Christ Flaming Evangelical Church Grace Baptist Church REAL TRUE STORIES OF CONVERSIONS 1. A woman we met in the Market A group of four met a young girl in the Market and engaged her in conversation. Even though reluctant she was willing to talk to the group. The group leader Philip shared to her about the love of Jesus and told her about Jesus who cam e to die for our sins. That only Jesus would give her the freedom she desires. She thought about the slavery under her husband, no voice of her own, and no rights. All she does is to please her husband and to do whatever is required of her. The group made it clear that she can be treated that way her but in heaven she is free and will inherit the right to be with Jesus. The leader asked her if she wants to know Jesus. She said yes. Right there she prayed to receive Jesus. 2. When will this happen? A young man by the name of Mohamed came to us and ask us when would the world come to an end and when will our Lord Jesus came to take all Christians? I was in that group so I said to him, quoting from Matthew 24 and explaining all to him. I made mention of the signs of the end of the age in Matthew 24 but said the assurance we have is that all those who believe in Him (Jesus) will rise up and be with Him in Heaven. He asked us, what about Muslims. I said the Bible said all those who believe and confess Him as Lord will inherit the Kingdom of God. He said what about Christians? I mentioned to him that being a Christian does not automatically take you to heaven. You first of all must confess Him and Lord and believe in Him and do what is written in the Bible. Your good works only will never take you to heaven. After several other passages and persuasions the Lord spoke to his heart and right were we met him he prayed to receive Jesus. CLOSING COURTESY The crusade ended with a victory rally at the Grace Baptist Church of Banjul with 313 in attendance. Thanks to all who participated including those who supported the crusade with funds. The Churches are very grateful to you all and pray you will continue to support to see many come to know the Lord. 10 SPECIAL STORIES FROM THE FIELD 1. I KNOW THERE IS A REDEEMER A girl met us who just sat to the Junior Secondary school external exams awaiting her certificate to enter Senior Secondary School. This period is about three months before the results are out. Before the results came out she entered into prostitution and was not willing to go back to school neither surrendered her life to Jesus. We met with her and one of the sisters shared the gospel with her and explained her own story to her but mentioned the Lord delivered her from the spell of the devil. With several scriptural references she said, I now know there is a redeemer who came to save mankind. Right were we were seated she prayed to receive Jesus in her life. She promised to go to the Church. Please don t share this out. She consented for us to take her photo but not to expose her. Please continue to pray for her, she wants to be committed and go to school. 2. I WANT TO TRY THIS JESUS There was this man who is a Muslim and is tired of praying and said to us, God has disappointed me and there is no need to pray to any God any further. He further said, I am an ardent Muslim praying 5 times a day but nothing seems to happen in my life. He has just gotten out of prison for a crime he said he did not commit. He said to us, what God would allow such a thing to happen to his child, especially when I see what is happening to those who do not know God. After the frustrations pastor Philip shared about the Psalmist who had the same feeling about the ungodly who flourish. He shared Jesus with him and after the presentation of the gospel he said, I want to try this Jesus. He immediately kneels down and prayed to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and savior of his life. He made pledge to leave Islam and put his trust in Jesus and start going to Church. CONCLUSION The victory rally was done at the Central Baptist Church. 12 2. We would have missed God s plan for our lives Two older men have been friends for over 26 years and have never seen once in their lives to allow people to share about Jesus to them. They have rejected every opportunity. We went there and first step we took was to send someone to befriend them and not to say anything about Jesus or God. After three days the brother that was sent to them asked if he can invite his friends to have some discussion with the. They gladly accepted the offer and we visited the three of them, the new friend who happens to be a Church member and the two friends. We identify our purpose to them even though reluctant but they never wanted to disappoint their new friend so they accepted us. After we finished sharing with them they said to us, we would have missed God s plan for our lives. Right there they prayed to receive Jesus. Knowing Jesus There is girl who had lost hope and is disappointed with life altogether. She was a drop out from school and was being sent away from the home by her step mother for no just reason but because she not her daughter. We met her staying with her friend we had appointment with on Andrew card. This was a Christian but had stopped coming to the Church for a long time so the Church members thought it wise to include her in the list of visitations. As we 12

14 were talking to the friend she walked in and was asked by her friend to join with reluctance after listening to the gospel she said to us I can t see myself to influence by this your Jesus. 2. A fellow pastor we met at a particular village has abandoned his calling and was there hauling firewood for a living. No one even knows he is a pastor or a Christian. Two of our team members visited that village and came back with this report when we had our sharing time in the evening. They could not talk to him because he is a pastor and they are not sure they have words rich enough to share with him. I met him the next day and engaged him in talking. We sat down and started sharing about what his problems seem to be. He said to me, pastor I was faithful to God and what have I to show for it but poverty and neglect. I cannot even take care of my family with my wife gone and children gone astray. I shared few scriptures with him and referring to Paul s suffering, John s imprisonment in the Island of Patmos. Many others have suffered because of the faith and people have not had food for days trying to take the gospel to foreign lands. I said to him being a Christian does not exempt us from suffering. With other supporting scriptures he came to realize that he is called of God to serve and it is left with the Lord to reward and bless us. Right there he promised and prayed to maintain his calling to do the Lord s will. He prayed and rededicated his life for faithful service. CONCLUSION We are grateful to all those who in diverse ways have supported this crusade and the lives that have been won to the Lord and in the Church. 13

A young woman during one of our evangelistic services came to the service but did not believe in Jesus. Some one who knew her shared to one of the evangelists and she was taken in one corner of the Church and the message of the gospel was shared to her. 35 LOKO TOWN DATE: 14 TH 20 TH APRIL 2012 THEME: THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD-JESUS CHRIST INTRODUCTION Loko town is an area situated by a tribe known for selling coconuts we buy in the streets of Freetown. These people came and populated themselves in this area. Almost all of the people found in this area are low workers which makes that the Churches found in these area are all small. This place is known to have a population of about 17,000 and has several mango trees that identify this area. This place is also known for witchcraft and sorcerers. CRUSADE The crusade saw 26 evangelists being sent into 13 Churches in the environs of Loko Town. During the 7 days encounter a total of 918 decisions were registered. We also had 16 Baptism and 71 rededications (those who have fallen from the faith but due to our evangelistic campaign came back and made a fresh commitment to the Lord.) We did the house to house visitation with the Operation Andrew cards. OPENING AND VICTORY RALLIES These rallies attracted several people two of which are very important people in the community (a sorcerer and the counselor of the community). During the Opening rally the evangelists were distributed to the Churches that participated in the Preparation Retreat. There was joy as the teams and Churches acquainted themselves and share about the work for the 7 days crusade. 34

36 The Victory rally saw 294 in attendance as the people celebrated the number of converts and the stories in the Field. A woman gave a testimony that after giving her life to Jesus she heard a voice saying good bye to her and that she has fire allover her and that the spirit saying good bye cannot come close to her again. She was thanking God for what He did for her. CHURCHES AND NUMBER OF CONVERTS 1. One of the team members met with him and share about the Lord s mercies. He put up some arguments as accusing us of forgetting our roots for the white man s religion. We mentioned Christianity is not a white man s religion but those accepted the Lord to be their personal Savior. After several convincing Biblical evidences he prayed to receive Jesus Christ. 2. A sorcerer threatened to cast spell on any one who listens to the Christian. A lot of the people were afraid but we told the people not to worry that he is just bluffing. That nothing will happen to them. The people responded to the gospel and threatened again that that night a lot those who accept the Lord will die. In the morning non died and in fact he was the one who was sick and needing our help to reverse the illness. We went to his hut and offer to pray for him which he accepted. About four hours after the prayers he came to us with joy that he has been healed. Right there he prayed to receive Jesus Christ. He came to the Victory rally and gave a testimony. 3. We visited a Rastafarian who had long believed in the prophet hood of Bob Marley. We had a long encounter with him which was fruitful as during our discussion he came to realize that all that he had believed was not true and that Jesus is the true Messiah who died for our sins. With these facts he prayed to receive Jesus. APPRECIATION Our appreciation goes to our sponsors who made this evangelistic campaign Possible and to all the workers in the office who acidulously work behind the Scene. God bless you all.
