Let us pray CALL TO CONFESSION OF SIN 1 Timothy 1:5 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. CONFESSION OF SIN O Father, relieve our consciences, now and in the hour of our death, from the terror of our guilt and the fear of your judgment. Let your peace come into our hearts that we may await your judgment with joy. Be not severe in your judgment of us, or no one will be found righteous. Teach us, dear Father, not to trust or find comfort in our own merits or good works. But teach us to venture and resign ourselves faithfully and firmly to your infinite mercy. In the same manner, let us not lose courage because of our guilty and sinful lives. Let us regard your mercy as higher and broader and stronger than all our being. Amen. (Silent confession) ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS 1 Timothy 1:15 Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. May the peace of Christ be with you. And also with you! I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. Mercy Sunday On the first Sunday of each month (Feb. 4) we participate together in a couple different ministries of mercy and compassion. It s good for us to cultivate regular habits like these so that generosity and helping others become second-nature to us and to our children Alms These gifts go toward a fund the deacons use to meet urgent needs among congregants and in the community as we are made aware of them.
