2 Oak Grove (Marble) Baptist Church Ladies Form WMU Thirteen mission-minded ladies from Oak Grove (Marble) Baptist Church met Tuesday, February 10, at the home of Medra Palmer for the purpose of organizing a Woman s Missionary Union for their church. Guest speaker Dr. Jeanette F. Hedrick, WMU Director for Truett Baptist Association, stressed the six goals of WMU based on the Great Commission in Mathew 28: 19-20: to pray for missions, to learn about missions, to give to missions; to do missions, to develop a missions lifestyle and to support the local church and denomination. Hedrick also covered the different age level groups of WMU: Mission Friends, Children in Action, GAs, RAs, Acteens and adult women. Annie Armstrong North American Mission offering, Lottie Moon International Mission offering and WMU NC were discussed. Hedrick gave examples of mission projects, trips, area missionaries and work of Truett Baptist Association WMU. Although the Oak Grove (Marble) ladies have been involved in various mission projects, they want to organize to do even more in the area of missions. They will start with the ladies group and will consider the age level groups later. Attendees were Paula Hall, Missy Cagle, Medra Palmer, Lisa Moss, Maxine Pace, Christa Darcy, Joan Moss, Michelle Trantham, Jessica Garrett, Marcella Cook, Emily Cook, Vickie Martin and Tammy Farmer. The following officers were elected: Director, Lisa Moss; Assistant Director, Medra Palmer; Mission Support, Joan Moss; Secretary, Vickie Martin and Treasurer, Tammy Farmer.
