14 physical education Academic Content Objectives Central Christian Academy believes that saints need to be physically active to grow properly. According to the National Association of Sports and Physical Education (NASPE), elementary classes should spend 150 minutes every week in physical education. Since God chooses our bodies for His temple and dwelling place, it is important that we take care of them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Therefore, CCA places a priority on children being active at school and emphasizes a strong physical education program. Saints in fourth grade make continuous progress across all fundamental motor patterns. Proficient movement patterns are possible as saints combine locomotor and manipulative skills in increasingly complex situations. Saints create sequences in educational exercise and gymnastics. They apply movement concepts and principles in individual movement, and tactical strategies in simple partner activities. Fitness assessment is appropriate at this grade level, and saints make interpretations of the results of their assessments and set personal goals based on the results. Saints exhibit the fruit of the Spirit, Christ-like behaviors, and apply proper rules and procedures.
