2 Welcome to Asbury. We are glad you are here at Asbury today, and hope you will feel God s love in your worship experience. We invite you to note the Asbury Calendar on the back page of the bulletin. Please print your information on the attendance pads and return them to the end of the pew. If you desire to join Asbury UMC, come forward during the last song, and our pastors will greet you. Please take a few moments to silence your phone. For the most meaningful worship, we encourage you to take advantage of our nursery available for infants through 2 years old. December 9, 2018 Divine Worship Sanctuary 8:30 A.M. & 10:45 A.M. 3 Lord s Prayer 895 Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. The Giving of Our Tithes and Offerings Offertory Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus Chancel Choir arr. David Bryant Soloists: Audrey Smith, RJ Robertson *Doxology 246 (vs. 2) Joy to the world, the Savior reigns! Let all their songs employ; while fields and floods, Rocks, hills and plains repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy, repeat, repeat, the sounding joy. *Hymn of Meditation While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks 236 Hearing God s Word Scripture Lesson Luke 2:8-20 (NLT, Pew Bible) 781 The Message A Charlie Brown Christmas: In the Fields (8:30) Rev. Doug Walker [Second in a Series, Magical Movies of Christmas] Responding to God With Our Lives *Recessional Hymn There s a Song in the Air 249 *Blessing of God s People *Choral Benediction Let There Be Peace on Earth 431 Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me; let there be peace on the peace that was meant to be. With God our creator, children all are we. Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony. Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now. With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow: to take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally. Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. You are encouraged to go forth and serve Christ after the singing of the Benediction. Postlude Liturgist: 8:30 - Sabrina Hinson / 10:45: Patti Langley Acolytes: 8:30 - Colin Stumhofer, Nathan Hof Sound/Video Operator: 8:30 - Austin Pittman, Shane Marriott 10:45 - Mazhil, Sharath Christmastime is here. Happiness and cheer. And for Peanuts fans everywhere, it just wouldn't be Christmas without hearing the Luke 2 Christmas story being narrated by Linus. Lucy directs the Peanuts characters in the annual Christmas play. And what's a Christmas play without a Christmas tree? But everyone makes fun of the short, spindly nevergreen Charlie Brown brings back - until the real meaning of Christmas works its magic once again. Come, hear how the Peanuts gang and the Shepherds in the Hills have a mission to share the Good News!
