4 Lord's Day Service December 9, 2018 CALL TO WORSHIP: O Come, O Come Emmanuel (Trinity #194) O come, O come, Immanuel, and ransom captive Israel that mourns in lonely exile here until the Son of God appear. Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel shall come to you, O Israel. RESPONSIVE READING: from Isaiah 9 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil. For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 3
5 Hymn: Of the Father's Love Begotten (Trinity #162) Of the Father's love begotten Ere the worlds began to be, He is Alpha and Omega, He the Source, the Ending He, Of the things that are, that have been, And that future years shall see Evermore and evermore. Oh, that birth forever blessed When the Virgin, full of grace, By the Holy Ghost conceiving, Bare the Savior of our race, And the Babe, the world's Redeemer, First revealed His sacred face Evermore and evermore. This is He whom Heaven-taught singers Sang of old with one accord; Whom the Scriptures of the prophets Promised in their faithful word. Now He shines, the Long-expected; Let creation praise its Lord Evermore and evermore. O ye heights of heaven, adore Him; Angel hosts, His praises sing; Powers, dominions, bow before Him And extol our God and King. Let no tongue on earth be silent, Every voice in concert ring Evermore and evermore. Christ, to Thee, with God the Father, And, O Holy Ghost, to Thee Hymn and chant and high thanksgiving And unending praises be, Honor, glory, and dominion, And eternal victory Evermore and evermore. 4

14 Hi Everyone, Updates from Friends Greetings to you! I trust you had a really good Thanksgiving and an heart full of thankfulness for the great things God is doing in you, with you and for you! I want to thank you for your prayers. They are felt and needed. I will get you quickly up to speed. I have been getting ideas about lessons for going overseas. I haven t done much in developing them, as yet, but noted each one. I will develop them in time. PRAYER ITEM: Please keep praying for lesson ideas for me to develop that will help meet some of the felt needs of those living in deep bush areas. Thanks for praying! In the last to you, I mentioned how I was battling the progression of glaucoma. This morning I returned to the glaucoma specialist, after adding an additional eye drop, for the past two weeks. I was told there was not any significant changes in the pressure of my eyes.. That was not what I wanted to hear. (But good it wasn t worse! so thank you Lord!) He has added another different eye drop that I am to take along with the two I have now. The new one I am adding to the drops I take in the daytime every 12 hours. Now I will take the new and the old together, 10 minutes apart I go back in two weeks for another pressure check. He told me he will keep trying drops, but when exhausted will talk of surgery. He told me that my eyes won t like the surgery and I responded I won t like it either! PRAYER ITEM: Pray the new drops will mesh with my present drops and work my eye pressure down. As I said I won t like surgery either! Thanks for praying! Sure, I wasn t liking to hear this result; but so, so, so very glad I am home. God knows and I will keep on trusting Him. Wow! THANKS again for your faithfulness In praying for me. I can t do without your prayers and your prayers are needed! THANKS for continuing to pray. Love, Rosie Roth

16 WHAT WE BELIEVE We are a Christian church. Our desire is to enjoy life in the body of Jesus to the fullest. This life is meant to be shared, as all good things are. But in order to share anything, you must know what it is you have to give. In that light we consider these to be the foundation stones of the life God offers in Jesus. We believe that the Bible is the only infallible, final authority for all faith and practice. We believe that every man, woman, and child is a sinner, having transgressed the high standards of God's character and moral law. Salvation, therefore, is only possible through faith in the life, death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and enthronement of Jesus Christ. We believe that we can do nothing to earn God's favor: my new life in Jesus is nothing if not the free gift of God. We believe that this grace only comes through faith in the work of Jesus: faith that my sins were covered on the cross; faith that Jesus' righteousness covers me. We believe that all of life is to be lived for the glory of God alone, fully satisfied with all that He is, and all that He has done for me in Jesus. We believe that all of life is lived in the presence of God: as a child of the Father, you have full and free access to the throne of grace.
