December 1, 2018 Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, Praise the Lord! I am so glad you are going to be in God s Word this month. Keep Jesus involved in all your activities this month. Be a person of endurance and don t ever quit. God bless you as you study God s Word this month. Gladly in His Service, Gladly in His Service, Dr. Jason B. Brittain

Saturday December 1 Scripture Reading: Ezekiel Peter 3 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:4 is Paul talking about his relationship with Timothy. It says, Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. Paul had just said that he had been praying for Timothy and now he remembered Timothy s tears and how he longed to be with Timothy. Paul also said that he would be filled with joy when they could be together. We all have relationships in the Lord that are very important to us and that is the way it should be. Look at what Peter said about the coming in Jesus in 2 Peter 3:3-4, First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, Where is this coming he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation. There are sure scoffers around today. We believe that Jesus is coming. We don t know when but we know that He is coming and some people scoff at us just like Peter said would happen. We need to believe the Word and live for Jesus no matter what people think. 2 Peter 3:17-18, Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever! Amen. Peter ended this book by telling us that there will be two groups of people. Some will get into errors and lawlessness. We will be growing in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus. Thank God we are in the right group. Prayer: Lord, I thank You for all my brothers and sisters in the Lord. I am especially thankful for the close friends I have in You. Help me to pray for all of them more. I know that You are coming again and I want to be living fully for You always. Help me to grow in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus more and more. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Sunday December 2 Scripture Reading: Ezekiel John 1 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:5 I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. Timothy had been influenced by his grandmother and his mother. What a blessing that must have been. I don t know if you have had good influencers in your life like this or not but you can be a good influence to others. 1 John 1:3, We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. John is writing about a fellowship that only Christians can enjoy. John said he was telling them of what they had seen and heard so they could have real fellowship. I am sure there have been times in your life when you and other believers got together and shared with each other about Jesus and you were all blessed by it. That is real fellowship. Don t miss out on real fellowship. 1 John 1:4, We write this to make our joy complete. Now John says that he wrote about that real fellowship so we could have complete joy. 1 John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. To confess means to say the same thing about our sins as what God says. If you have sinned go to God and confess it and He will forgive you. If you blame your sin on someone else or try to rationalize it you are not doing what you need to do. Confess your sins and be forgiven. Prayer: Lord, I thank You for the people who have influenced me in my walk with You and I want to influence people to live fully for You. Help me to have and to enjoy real fellowship with like minded believers and help us to enjoy compete joy. I am so thankful that You have provided forgiveness for me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Monday December 3 Scripture Reading: Daniel John 2 Praise the Lord! I want to talk to you about keeping Jesus at the center of all that you do this month. I know that December can be a very busy time. It would be shame if we got so busy and forgot that Christmas is all about Jesus. Keep Jesus at the center of all that you do and all the things you do will go better. Remember, wise people still seek Jesus! 1 John 2:1-2, My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. We have the Word to help us to keep from sinning. The more we know the Word, renew our minds to it, believe it and stand on it the less likely we will be to sin. That is such good news. Amen? If we do sin Jesus can and will help us. He will forgive us and get us back on the right track. He has already paid for our sins on the cross. 1 John 2:26-27, I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in him. Has there ever been a time when you heard something and you just didn t feel right about it? That was probably God s anointing telling you to be cautious. We need to trust God s leading and check things out to make sure they line up with the Word. Prayer: Lord, I want to seek You and Your Kingdom first and foremost this month. Help me to keep You at the center of all that I do. Thank You for teaching me so much from Your Word. Help me to live like You want and help me to avoid all sin. I am so thankful that You died on the cross for all my sins. I am going to live fully for You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Tuesday December 4 Scripture Reading: Daniel Join 3 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:6, For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. God has blessed us and He has even gifted us to live for Him. Look at Hebrews 2:1, We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. Don t drift away from what God has spoken to you. 1 John 3:1-3, How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure. God loves you, He has made you His child, we are going to end up looking just like Jesus and we should live lives of purity just like Jesus lived. That is a lot to live up to and I want to remind you that God will help you all along the way! 1 John 3:8, He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil s work. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and He continues His work today. John 8:30-32, Even as he spoke, many put their faith in him. To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Prayer: Lord, I want to pay attention to all that You are speaking to me and I don t ever want to drift away. Help me to know more of what You have done for me and help me to hold on to all Your teachings. Please continue to set me free. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Wednesday December 5 Scripture Reading: Daniel John 4 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:7, For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (or fear), but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. God only has good things for us. He doesn t give us a spirit of timidity or fear because they would not be good for us. He wants us to be powerful, loving people who live self-disciplined lives. I am sure you would like to live these things out more and I want to remind you that it is God who will help you. You are going to make it. I know that is true because I know the One who is helping you. 1 John 4:1-3, Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. God will always take care of us. There are people who are trying to deceive people and we won t get off track if we base everything on the Word. John 14:6, Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. Jesus is the only Way to the Father. He said so and we need to believe it and base our lives on it. Look at the next verse, 1 John 4:4, You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. The Greater One lives in us! We can trust Jesus. Prayer: Lord, thank You for only giving me good things that are in line with Your will. Help me to be a powerful, loving, selfcontrolled Christian. I want to represent You well. I know that You are the only Way to the Father and I want to stand up for the truth. Help me to know that You are in my life and because of that I can stay true and I will always be protected. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Thursday December 6 Scripture Reading: Daniel John 5 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:8, So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. Jesus, I am not ashamed of You or Your work in my life. Romans 1:16, I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. I am not ashamed of the Gospel. 1 John 5:1-2, Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. Have you ever heard anyone say something like this? I love God but some of His children sure bother me? Well this verse says that if you love God you will love His children. 1 John 5:11-12, And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. Life (real life) is found in Jesus. The life we have in Jesus not only affects our here and now but it will last forever. Look at what Jesus said in John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. There is a thief who comes to take life away but Jesus is greater than him and thank God we have given our lives to Jesus. He gives us life and life to the full. You are not missing out on anything as a Christian. We are the ones who are blessed. Don t ever envy those who don t know God. Prayer: Lord, I love You and I am so thankful for Your good work in my life. I am never ashamed of You or the Gospel. Help me to know that real life is only found in You. I thank You for providing life and life to the full for me and I am thankful that it is Eternal life. Please bless everyone who is doing this devotion today. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Friday December 7 Scripture Reading: Daniel John Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:9 is talking about God s work in our lives and it says, Who has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. I think I will spend another day on this but for today notice that God has save you and He has called you to a holy life. When you choose holiness you will be in God s will and you will be living in line with His calling. Choose holiness. 2 John 1:3, Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father s Son, will be with us in truth and love. God has grace, mercy and peace for us. It comes from the Father and from Jesus. We need to know that God has all that we need. 2 Peter 1:3, His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. We have all that we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Jesus. Be thankful. When we started 1 John I showed you that real fellowship is something that only Christians can enjoy. When we share about Jesus with each other is it real fellowship and it produces real joy. Now look at 2 John 1:12, I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete. John s writing to them was good but he knew it would be better to really be together. He longed to be with them so they could have real fellowship and the joy that real fellowship would produce. Don t miss opportunities for real fellowship. Prayer: Lord, thank You for saving me and calling me to a life of holiness. I want to live in line with my salvation and my calling. I am so thankful that You have already provided me with everything I need for life and godliness. Help me to avail myself of what You have for me. I also thank You for teaching me about real fellowship. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Saturday December 8 Scripture Reading: Daniel John Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:9, Who has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. God saved you and He called you. You didn t earn it or deserve it. He had Grace for you. His Grace was there when you were saved and His Grace was even extended to you before the beginning of time. God loves you that much. 3 John 1:2, Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. This is the NIV version of this verse. Look at KJV, 3 John 1:2, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. God wants us to have good health, that everything will go well with us, that we may prosper and be in health. All those things sure sound good to me. These things happen in our lives as our soul gets along well and as our soul prospers. The word translated soul here means our minds, our will and our emotions. This means when we renew our minds to the Word and think like God wants we are blessed. Romans 12:2 says, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. When we renew our minds to the Word we find God s will. His will includes all the things we saw in 3 John 1:2. 3 John 1:11, Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. Let s live like God wants. Prayer: Lord, I am so thankful for Your Grace. Help me to know that You have always had Grace for me and that You will always have Grace for me. I am so thankful for all the good things You have given me. Help me to use my blessings to bless others. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Sunday December 9 Scripture Reading: Hosea 1-4 Jude Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:9b-10, This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Saviour, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. God s Grace is being revealed through Jesus. He has destroyed death and given us eternal life. That is all part of Jesus coming to destroy the works of the devil. We are so blessed to have Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Jude 1:1, Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ: We have been called, we are loved and we will always be kept by Jesus. Believing all those things should give us a huge amount of confidence. Let God s Word give you confidence. Jude 1:2, Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. This verse doesn t just say we will have mercy, peace and love. It says we will have mercy, peace and love in abundance! Believe it. Jude 1:24-25, To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy-- to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and for evermore! Amen. Here are some more verses that should give us confidence. (I wonder if you need these truths today). God is able to keep us from falling and to present us to God through Jesus our Lord. Aren t you thankful for God s ongoing work in your life? Be confident in Him. Prayer: Lord, I am so thankful for Your Grace. I know that Your Grace has been given to me and demonstrated in my life because of Jesus. Thank You for loving me. Help me to have confidence that You have saved me, that You will never quit in my life and that I am going to make it all because of Jesus and not my own efforts. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Monday December 10 Scripture Reading: Hosea 5-8 Revelation 1 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:11, And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. Paul knew that he was called to preach the Gospel. You may not be called to travel and preach like Paul was but you are still called to be a witness for Jesus. Acts 1:8, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. God says you will be His witness wherever you go. Be faithful. Look at the first five words of the book of Revelation. Revelation 1:1, The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John. This book is, The revelation of Jesus Christ. Some people study this book looking for all kinds of things. Some of those things are good and some aren t but we should be looking for The revelation of Jesus Christ. When we are looking to see and learn more about Jesus we will not be disappointed. Revelation 1:3, Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. God even promises to bless us as we spend time in this book. We are always blessed when we spend time in the Word but it is interesting that God gives a stated promise of our being blessed here. What blessing could possibly be better than getting a greater Revelation of Jesus Christ? Prayer: Lord, I know that You want me to be a witness for You. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit and empower me. I want to be faithful to all that You want me to be doing. Thank You for promising to bless me as I study the book of Revelation. I want to have The revelation of Jesus Christ. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Tuesday December 11 Scripture Reading: Hosea 9-11 Revelation 2 Praise the Lord! I want to remind you to keep Jesus at the center of everything you do this month. Look at Matthew 6:33, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. When we seek Jesus and His ways first God promises to help us with all the other things we need to deal with in this life. Wouldn t you rather deal with all those things with His help? Let s see what we can learn about Jesus from Revelation 2. Revelation 2:7, He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. Revelation 2:11, He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death. Revelation 2:17, He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it. And Revelation 2:29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Jesus knows what is going on in His Churches. He is speaking to us. He wants to help us. Those things are pretty good revelations about Jesus. Look at Matthew 16:18, And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. The Church belongs to Jesus and He is the One building it. We need to trust Him more. He wants to help us. Prayer: Lord, I want to seek You and Your Kingdom more. Help me to keep my priorities right. I want to do everything I do with Your help. I know the Church belongs to You. I am so thankful for that revelation. Help me to trust You more and help me to be a blessing to my Pastor and my Church. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Wednesday December 12 Scripture Reading: Hosea Revelation 3 Praise the Lord! Look at what Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 1:12, That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. Paul was going through hard times but he was not ashamed of Jesus or the Gospel. He knew that Jesus was still Lord and He knew that Jesus was able to take care of everything he entrusted to Him. Revelation 3:5, He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels. Revelation 3:12, Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. Revelation 3:21, To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. Jesus has rewards for everyone who lives for Him. This is a wonderful revelation about Jesus. Look at what He said in Matthew 25:21, His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master s happiness! Jesus rewards those who are faithful. He knows all about the good things you do and He has rewards for you. Don t ever quit living for Him. Be faithful! Prayer: Lord, I am not ashamed of You or the Gospel. I know that You are King of kings and Lord of lords. I know that You are all-powerful and I trust You. Help me to be faithful. I know there are things You are asking me to do and I want to do them and never quit. Thank You for teaching me more today. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Thursday December 13 Scripture Reading: Joel Revelation 4 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:13, What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Let me paraphrase this for you today. What you have learned from Jesus and the Word, keep! Don t get off track and don t quit. Galatians 6:9, Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Don t become weary and don t quit. There is a harvest coming if we don t give up. Revelation 4:1-2. After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this. At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. Jesus is on the throne. I know you already know this but remembering will help you. You see you have given your life to Jesus and He is on the throne and you don t have anything to worry about. Jesus is on the throne. Here s something else for us to see about Jesus. Revelation 4:11, You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. Jesus is always worthy of all our praise and worship. He created all things and He is the source of our very being. Don t miss this. We are going to praise and worship Jesus forever and we should start now. Psalms 54:6, I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, O LORD, for it is good. It is good to praise Jesus. Prayer: Lord, I am so thankful for all You have taught me and I want to keep it all. Help me to never quit. I know You are on the throne. Help me to remember that. I also know that You are worthy of all my praise and I want to give praise and honor to You more. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Friday December 14 Scripture Reading: Amos 1-3 Revelation 5 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:14, Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you--guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Something wonderful stood out to me from this verse. We are told to guard what God had given us and then we are told that the Holy Spirit will help us. Isn t that great news? We are even told that the Holy Spirit who helps us lives right in us. That sounds even better. We have the One who will help us living in us all the time. There was a scroll in Heaven that needed to be opened and they couldn t find anyone to do it. Then they turned to Jesus and He opened it up. Here s something we can learn from this. Whenever we face something that seems impossible we should turn to Jesus! He can and will help us. Revelation 5:5, Then one of the elders said to me, Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals. If you ever feel like you are facing something that is impossible, Don t weep! Turn to Jesus! Revelation 5:14, The four living creatures said, Amen, and the elders fell down and worshipped. There are all kinds of creatures and people in heaven but they are all worshipping and they are worshipping Jesus. Jesus is worthy of all praise and worship for all eternity and He is worthy of all our praise and worship right now. We will all be worshiping Him when we get to heaven. Don t wait. Worship Him now. Look at Psalms 119:164, Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws. You could start by Praising Jesus seven times a day. Prayer: Lord, I want to guard everything You have given me and I thank You, Holy Spirit, for helping me. I also know that You deserve all my praise and worship and I want give it all to You. Please help me to praise You at least seven times a day. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Saturday December 15 Scripture Reading: Amos 4-6 Revelation 6 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:15, You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes. This must have been a very hard time for Paul but please don t miss what Paul did. He kept doing what God had called him to do. He kept preaching the Gospel and helping people to grow. He did those things when things were going well and he kept doing them when he faced hard things. Let s stay on track and keep living for Jesus no matter what happens. Amen? Revelation 6:1, I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, Come! There are some very important things written about in the book of Revelation and I want us to keep looking at them with the purpose of the book of Revelation in mind. It is, The revelation of Jesus Christ. When we read about seals being opened up and God s judgement being poured out we need to remember that Jesus is the One in charge of these things. We have given our lives to Him and we will never face God s judgment. Look at Romans 5:9, Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God s wrath through him! We have been justified by the blood of Jesus and we have been saved from God s wrath through Him. Praise God! My short commentary on the book of Revelation is, Jesus wins. My expanded commentary is, Jesus wins and we win too because we are on His side. As we focus on Jesus and keep looking for more revelation about Him we will always see God working and His protection for His people. Prayer: Lord, I want to live fully for You. Help me to never be distracted. I know that You are always working in my life and I want to help others to come to know You and to grow in You. Thank You for saving me from my sins and from God s wrath. I know these things are true and I am so thankful. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Sunday December 16 Scripture Reading: Amos 7-9 Revelation 7 Praise the Lord! In the verse we looked at yesterday Paul talked about people who had deserted him. Now look at 2 Timothy 1:16, May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains. Not everyone deserted him. This man, Onesiphorus, stood with Paul and refreshed him. Wouldn t you like to be known for good things like this rather than the bad things that those two people mentioned yesterday are known for? In Revelation 7, there are people who were marked for God. They had a seal put on their foreheads. Revelation 7:1-3, After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God. Jesus was well able to protect them. Here s my point for you today. Jesus protected them and He is well able to protect you too. What if we really believed that? We would have confidence and we would be much more bold. Look at Deuteronomy 31:6, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous. Why? Because Jesus is with you and He will never leave you or forsake you. Believe it! Prayer: Lord, I want to be known for good things. Help me to always help people. I also know that You will never leave me or forsake me. I want to be bold and confident in You and Your good work in my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Monday December 17 Scripture Reading: Obadiah Revelation 8 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:16-17, May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains. On the contrary, when he was in Rome, he searched hard for me until he found me. I don t know how long it took this guy to find Paul but he didn t quit. He was determined to find Paul and help him. We should be like this. Be determined to bless people and don t quit no matter how long it takes. Revelation 8:1 says, When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. I don t want you to miss Who the He is spoken of here. It is Jesus! As we go through the book of Revelation I am focusing on Jesus. I am praying for you to to have a greater Revelation of Him. That is part of the blessing that Jesus promised to us as we study this book. Revelation 8:6 says, Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them. Revelation 8:13 says, As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels! God s judgement is being poured out and we are reading about some very serious things and we need to remember some things along the way. First of all, we need to remember that God is in control. None of these things are outside of His will and plan. Secondly, we need to remember that we won t ever face God s judgement because Jesus paid the price for our sins. Prayer: Lord, I want to bless people and I want to be determined. I don t ever want to quit. I am so glad that I have given my life to You. Thank You for giving Your life for me so I can now have Your life. I certainly know that I didn t deserve it. Help me to live for You and to know that You are always with me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Tuesday December 18 Scripture Reading: Jonah Revelation 9 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 1:18, May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day! You know very well in how many ways he helped me in Ephesus. Paul is still talking about Onesiphorus who had helped him. 1 Corinthians 14:11 says, So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church. Onesiphorus lived like this. He was helping Paul and he never quit. I hope you help people like this too. Look at Revelation 9:20-21, The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts. These people were opposed to the things of God and they were not going to quit. They actually went further and further into their wickedness. Doesn t it seem to you that people would turn to God rather than away from Him? That is because you are not rejecting God and His ways. The Word tells us that the goodness of God leads people to repentance. When people have rejected His goodness they are in serious trouble. Don t misunderstand what is happening here. God wanted these people to turn to Him and to be saved but they had rejected Him. They had chosen to serve demons and idols and so they were going to face God s judgement. Jesus had died for their sins but they would not accept Him so there was no way they could be saved. Thank God that we have given our lives to Jesus. We are saved! Prayer: Lord, thank You for Onesiphorus example. I want to bless others more. I always want to build people up. Please help me to recognize the chances I have to do these things. I am also so thankful for Your goodness. Thank You for teaching me so many of Your ways. I am always going to stay close to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Wednesday December 19 Scripture Reading: Micah 1-3 Revelation 10 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:1 says, You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Paul refers to Timothy as his son. Timothy was his son in the Lord. Paul had mentored him and helped him along the way. Do you have people in your life that have mentored and helped you along the way? If you do I think they would speak to you and say, Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus! Take that advice today and live it. Revelation 10:5-7 say, Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. And he swore by Him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, There will be no more delay! But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets. Verse 1 says this was a mighty angel. Did you notice that he proclaimed something here by Him who lives for ever and ever... Do you know who these things refer to? This mighty angel proclaimed these things in the Name of Jesus! Look at Romans 10:13, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Think about how powerful the Name of Jesus is. Whosoever calls on the Name of Jesus is saved. That means His Name is so powerful that the worst sinner can call on Him and be saved. Think about the Apostle Paul. Before he was saved he was an enemy of Jesus and all His people. But when Paul called on the Name of Jesus he was saved. Prayer: Lord, I want to be strong in Your grace. I know that You love me and I want to live fully for You. Help me to know more about how powerful Your Name is. I know that I am saved today because I have called on Your Name. I also know that Your Name is above all names. Help me to represent You well. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Thursday December 20 Scripture Reading: Micah 4-5 Revelation 11 Praise the Lord! Paul was writing to Timothy and training him for the ministry. Now look at 2 Timothy 2:2, And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Now Paul was telling Timothy to train others. Paul told Timothy to pick people who were reliable. Would you like to be used more? Be reliable and you will be the kind of people who get used more. Revelation 11:3, And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. God always wants to use His people to be witnesses for Him. These two were very special witnesses but I want you to know that God wants you to be a witness too. Look at Acts 1:8, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. God wants us all to be filled with the Holy Spirit so we will be powerful witnesses for Him. We should be witnesses all the time and everywhere we go. Thank God that He will help us. Revelation 11:15, The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever. Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords and He is going to end up ruling and reigning over everything. Remember my short commentary of the book of Revelation? Jesus wins! He is going to reign forever and ever. Those aren t just nice thoughts. This is how it is going to happen and we are going to be there. Prayer: Lord, I do want to be used more. Help me to be reliable right where I am. I also know that You want me to be a powerful witness for You and I want that too. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit and power. I know that You are King of kings and Lord of lords. I am so glad You are my King and Lord today. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Friday December 21 Scripture Reading: Micah 6-7 Revelation 12 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:3, Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. We may have to go through some hard things as Christians but Jesus will always be with us to help us. We do have an enemy but Jesus is always with us and He is much more powerful than the devil. Don t ever quit! Revelation 12:7-8, Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. This describes a battle in heaven. The devil could fight but he could not win. Later on Jesus is going to completely defeat the devil and cast him into hell forever. Look at 1 John 4:4, You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. Jesus, the greater One, lives in us and so we win. Revelation 12:10-11, Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. We overcome the devil with the word of our testimony and the blood of the Lamb. Jesus blood is powerful and we have it to help us to win. Our victory is all because of Jesus! Prayer: Lord, I am so thankful that You are always with me. Help me to remember this and help me to always rely on You and Your help. Thank You for giving me victory over all the works of the devil. I want to keep my life open to You and closed to the devil. Please bless all Your people who are reading these things today. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Saturday December 22 Scripture Reading: Nahum Revelation 13 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:4 says, No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. Paul is giving us an illustration to help us to realize that Jesus is our Lord and we should always do want He wants. People who have been in the military know this is how it works there. In the military we get orders and we obey them. We need to let Jesus rule and reign in our lives. Look at Revelation 13:8, All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast all whose names have not been written in the Lamb s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world. Every person is serving someone. Some serve Jesus and those who reject Him end up serving the devil. I know that some people don t accept this but it is still the truth. Look at what Jesus said in John 8:44, You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. He was speaking to people who were rejecting Him and He said they belong to their father, the devil. The verse we started with, Revelation 13:8, also refers to people who have had their names written in the Lamb s book of Life. We are those people because we have given our lives to Jesus and we are born-again believers. Thank God! Giving our lives to Jesus is the most important decision anyone ever makes. It changes everything in our lives now and it opens the way for us to go to Heaven and to spend all eternity with Jesus. Prayer: Lord, I am thankful that You are my Lord and I want to live like I should. I know that Your instructions for me are always right and I want to obey You quickly and completely. Thank You for saving me and writing my name in the Lamb s book of Life. I am sure glad that I have given my life to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Sunday December 23 Scripture Reading: Habakkuk Revelation 14 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:5 says, Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor s crown except by competing according to the rules. Paul is giving us another example here. When a person competes as an athlete they need to follow the rules. If they don t they will be disqualified. Guess who makes the rules on how we should live? God does. We need to know how He wants us to live and then we need to live like that. Look at Ephesians 5:10, Find out what pleases the Lord. Here is some really good advice for you today. Find out what pleases the Lord and do those things. Revelation 14:1, Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father s name written on their foreheads. These ones who belonged to God were standing with Jesus. That s how we will all get to heaven. By standing with Jesus. We stand with Him now and we will stand with Him forever! Revelation 14:11-12, And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name. This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus. Let s be people of patient endurance. Let s obey God and let s remain faithful to Jesus. You see, the Christian life isn t really very complicated. I know some people seem to make it complicated but let me make it simple for today. Stay close to Jesus, hear from Him and do what He says. Prayer: Lord, I want to know what pleases You and I want to do those things. Help me to stay close to You. I know that I belong to You and I want my life to be an example for others to see how wonderful it is to be born-again and living for Jesus. Thank You for all Your blessings. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Monday December 24 Scripture Reading: Zephaniah Revelation 15 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:6, The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Paul is giving us a lot of examples about living for Jesus and they are all good. Today he gives us the example of a farmer. Farmers have to work hard and they have to be patient. Don t miss the point. We need to work hard and we need to be patient. Is that clear enough? Revelation 15:1-2, I saw in heaven another great and marvellous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues-last, because with them God s wrath is completed. And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God These had been victorious over the beast and his image. They didn t live for the devil. They lived for Jesus. Thank God that He has victory for every one of us. Revelation 15:3-4, And they sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: Great and marvellous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages. Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed. These victorious people sang praise to Jesus because they knew He was the One who had saved them and protected them. We have been saved and protected by Jesus too and we should sing His praise today, every day and forever. Prayer: Lord, I am not going to rely on my own works but I know that I need to work hard and that I need to be patient. Thank You for loving me so much. I know that every victory I have ever had is because You were with me. Help me to remember this and help me to be even more reliant on You and Your help. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Tuesday December 25 Scripture Reading: Haggai Revelation 16 Merry Christmas! Keep Jesus at the center of everything you do today and it will all go better. Be an example to those you are around. Jesus has you in the relationship you have so you can be a light and an encouragement to those around you. Be patient and loving today. You may find some people who need you today. Build them up. Revelation 16:5-6, Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: You are just in these judgments, you who are and who were, the Holy One, because you have so judged; for they have shed the blood of your saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve. God was and is just in everything He does. He had provided a Way of salvation and those facing judgement had rejected it. Actually I could say that they had rejected Him. The Way God had provided for salvation was Jesus. Revelation 16:9, They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. Revelation 16:11, They cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done. Revelation 16:21, From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible. That s what they did. Here s what they didn t do. They didn t repent and turn to Jesus to be saved. They were judged because they rejected the Way that God has graciously provided for them to be saved from their sins and His wrath. Prayer: Lord, I want You to be at the center of everything I do today and every day. I want to represent You well today and I want to bless people. I am so thankful that I will never face Your wrath because Jesus paid for my sins completely. Help me to know these things and help me to never doubt them. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Wednesday December 26 Scripture Reading: Zechariah 1-3 Revelation 17 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:7, Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. Paul had given several examples of what living for Jesus looks like and now tells us to reflect on them. Reflecting on the Word is like meditating on it. Thank God for the things He speaks to us when we first read the Word but I want you to know there is always more. When you reflect and meditate God can show you more. Take one of the three examples of the Christian life that Paul gave us and just think about it today. Revelation 17:8, The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and will come up out of the Abyss and go to his destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because he once was, now is not, and yet will come. We can see two groups of people in the book of Revelation. There are those whose names are not written in the book of Life and there are those whose names are written in the book of Life. Thank God that our names are written there because we have given our lives to Jesus! Those who don t know Jesus are living more and more wickedly and they are going to be judged. They will never get to Heaven. Revelation 17:17, For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God s words are fulfilled. God s purposes were being accomplished. I don t think any of us really realize how much God is at work. We know He is working in our lives and that is good but He is also working in others too. Prayer: Lord, help me to reflect on one of the examples Paul gave about living the Christian life. I believe You are going to speak to me. Thank You for saving me and writing my life in the Lamb s book of Life. I shudder to think of what my life would be like without You. I love You! In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Thursday December 27 Scripture Reading: Zechariah 4-6 Revelation 18 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:8, Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel. The Gospel is Good News. Paul said that the resurrection of Jesus was the basis for everything he preached. You see, if Jesus was not raised from the dead Christianity would be like other religions. Jesus is alive. Remember that. Revelation 18:4, Then I heard another voice from heaven say: Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues. We have been saved by the Resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ. Look at 1 Corinthians 15:33, Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character. People influence us. If there are people who influence you to do wrong then you need to curtail your time with them. Now to add balance look at the next verse, 1 Corinthians 15:34, Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame. 1 Corinthians 15:34 Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame. We do need to be around them to tell them about Jesus. So, in your relationships, make sure you are influencing others for Jesus and don t let them influence you toward sin. Revelation 18:5-6, For her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes. Give back to her as she has given; pay her back double for what she has done. Mix her a double portion from her own cup. They had rejected Jesus and they were going to reap what they had sown. Prayer: Lord, I believe that You were raised from the dead and I know that You are alive and working in my life. Help me to know how to spend time with people to influence them. Help me to be strong enough to help them. Please tell me if there are any people that I am not strong enough to help right now. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Friday December 28 Scripture Reading: Zechariah 7-9 Revelation 19 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:8-9, Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God s word is not chained. Paul was physically in jail but God s word was not chained. He was still writing to people and the Word that he sent out is still impacting people like you and me. Things are being wrapped up in the book of Revelation. Jesus is winning and we will win too because we are on His side. Revelation 19:1-2, After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants. God is the One who will sort out all kinds of things in the end. Don t worry about wicked people getting away with things. Just keep living for Jesus and trust Him to take care of them. Trust Jesus and have peace. Revelation 19:16, On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. When Jesus shows up He will take care of everything. He is called King of kings and Lord of lords. Do you know who the kings and lords are that are referred to here? We are them. Look at Revelation 5:10, You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth. Jesus work in our lives is going to go on for all eternity and there are some wonderful things coming. Prayer: Lord, I am so thankful that Your Word cannot be chained. I know that Your Word is working mightily in my life and I am thankful. Help me to know that You are the One that I need to trust in all things. I trust You to take care of people who have rejected You. Teach me more about reigning in life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Saturday December 29 Scripture Reading: Zechariah Revelation 20 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:10, Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. Paul wrote in many places about how we need to have endurance and never quit. He was certainly a man of endurance. Look what he said here, I endure everything for the sake of the elect. He endured so he could help others. I want to encourage you to be a person of endurance and to use your endurance to help others as well as yourself. Revelation 20:11-12, Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. Jesus is on the throne. We are looking at the Revelation of Jesus Christ. We saw at the beginning of Revelation that there is a blessing for us as we read and study it. As we gain more revelation about Jesus we are getting the blessing that was promised. Revelation 20:14-15, Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Let me be clear. Everyone whose name is not in the book of Life will be thrown into the lake of Fire. Everyone whose name is in the book of Life will spend all eternity with Jesus. Thank God our names are in the book of Life. Prayer: Lord, I want to be a person of endurance and I want to use my endurance for myself and to help others. Thank You for showing me more about Jesus and I know that I am blessed with every revelation You give me. I know that I am going to spend all eternity with You and I want to help others to be born-again. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Sunday December 30 Scripture Reading: Zechariah Revelation 21 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:10, Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. I wanted to talk about this verse a little more today. Paul used his endurance to help others obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus. We should use our endurance for many things but it should especially be used in really important things like helping people to come to know Jesus. Have endurance and never give up. Revelation 21:1-4, Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Have you ever noticed that a lot of things are all messed up? Have you ever wondered if they will ever be straightened out? Well, they will be! Look at Who will straighten them out. Revelation 21:5, He who was seated on the throne said, I am making everything new! Then he said, Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true. Jesus created all things, He is on the throne and He will make all things new. Prayer: Lord, I want to be a person of endurance and I want to use my endurance for eternal things. Help me to lead people to You and help me to never quit. I know that You are going to make all things new and I sure look forward to that. Help me to remember the revelations I am getting about You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Monday December 31 Scripture Reading: Malachi Revelation 22 Praise the Lord! 2 Timothy 2:11, Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him. This sure ties right in with what we are covering as we finish up the book of Revelation. We have given our lives to Jesus, our names are in the Lamb s book of Life and we are going to live with Him forever! Want to know what Heaven is going to be like? Revelation 22:1-5, Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. It is going to be Heaven and we are going to be with Jesus forever. That s a good revelation! Revelation 22:10, Then he told me, Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. We don t know when these things will happen but we know they will. We also know the culmination of all things is about 2,000 years closer than when this was first written. We need to stay close to Jesus and never quit. Prayer: Lord, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins so I could be forgiven and born-again. I know that I am going to live with You forever. In the meantime I want to represent You well, I want to help others to come to know You and I want to be a person of endurance who never quits. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
