1 October 18, 2015 THE CHURCH ON FIRE Interpretation Of Tongues Terry Baldwin 1 ( TITLE SLIDE ) While chopping wood I was praying for us the Church... We would operate in the Power of the Holy Spirit ( VIDEO 1 / VIDEO 2 ) We are dealing with one of the greatest lessons possible for the Church The Gifts and Ministries of the Holy Spirit - You are living in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit - Old Testament was God the Father speaking - In the Gospels God the Son Jesus - God the Holy Spirit since Jesus returned to Heaven - When Holy Spirit came He brought gifts - Jesus prophesied [ Mark NKJV ] And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; - You and I are still in the Church and we have a right to these gifts - ONLY UNBELIEF (Don t believe you can t receive)... - ONLY YOU REJECTING......can keep you from having them

2 - Come with a Humble Heart / Deep desire & Craving 2 These 3 weeks we have dealt with the INSPIRATIONAL GIFTS - Gift of Prophesy Spoken publicly in Church with understandable words For Strengthen / Encourage / Comfort - Gift of Tongues Spoken publicly in Church in a language that is NOT understood by those... Who Spoke it / Generally Those who hear it - We are told that when Tongues are given in public The next Gift should ALSO operate The Gift of the Interpretation of Tongues [ 1 Corinthians 12.10b NKJV ] to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. [ 1 Corinthians NLT ] Well, my brothers and sisters, let s summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you. Jesus loves His Church... we are His bride What is the Gift of Interpretation of Tongues?

3 The gift of the Interpretation of Tongues is the supernatural showing forth, by the Holy Spirit, the meaning of the word spoken by a person in a language that he does not understand Interpretation is NOT Translation...This is what confuses people 3 - We can hear a message from God in Tongues... - One person gives the Interpretation of it - Another might say... I would not have said that. You wouldn t... No one else would - It s NOT a TRANSLATION... - It s the Holy Spirit touching your spirit telling you what you can say - Normally He speaks accordingly the way you speak Translation is a WORD by WORD... the Bible is a Translation... NOT a INTERPRETATION - Husband may use so many words... - Wife may use different - BUT IT IS THE SAME SPIRIT - AND THE SAME CORE MEANING - Purpose of this Gift is the understanding of God s message, which has been given in an unintelligible language (as far as the mind is concerned) to those present - Prophesy message from God in understandable language for the Church

4 - Tongues along with the Interpretation of Tongues is the like Prophesy... All these are meant to build up us, the Church Gates of hell will NOT prevail against God s Church - God Loves the Church... Jesus loves the Church - That s why we need to be IN the Body 4 [ 1 Corinthians NLT ] A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church. I wish you could all speak in tongues, but even more I wish you could all prophesy. For prophecy is greater than speaking in tongues, unless someone interprets what you are saying so that the whole church will be strengthened. - Interpretation of Tongues is the Sister Gift to Speaking in Tongues - The 2 together are same as Prophesy - Notice how many times Strengthened is used... - To build up something Great and Strong - This Gift also Exalts the Lord Jesus Christ This Gift is It is Supernatural - The Interpreter does not understand the language he s interpreting - It operates through your Spirit that is born again... - Your Mind is a part of your soul... which is a part of your adamic nature... - God s Spirit, Holy Spirit, lives inside of believers...

5 5 How the Interpretation of Tongues Comes All these Gifts function by FAITH - If you don t have faith they won t work - They will scare you too - Faith you re moving in God and God is moving in you - The Interpreter will only receive one or two words... - That s were faith comes in - Then a few more words at a time - The Interpreter has no idea what Holy Spirit is going to say - It come from the spirit man inside you It will do something for the Church - Break Chains that bind - Break Fear that holds us - Break Things spiritually that you don t want to be - THERE S A BLESSING WITH IT!!!! Show Respect for the Movement of God... else you ll never hear from Him Why even have tongues? - It Builds up the Church when Interpreted

6 - It builds up the Speaker...He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, - 1 Cor It is also a sign to the unbeliever...therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; -1 Cor Church Leaders must NOT forbid these Gifts...do not forbid to speak with tongues. - 1 Cor 14.39b These Gifts can be neglected... and have been for many years within the Church 6 - Because of Fear that you will be out of control - Fear of opinion of man - Misunderstanding of use - But we are told to NOT neglect them...do not neglect the spiritual gift you received - 1 Tim 4.14a NLT Many believe these Gifts have Ceased and are no longer needed - Has God Stopped... Miracles / Healings / Faith / Prophesy / Discerning of Spirits??? - Tongues will cease... [ 1 Corinthians NKJV ] 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. ONLY... - In Heaven we ll no longer need Holy Spirit to guide us into truth - no longer need Tongues as a sign for unbelievers - no longer need unknown tongues to glorify God or pray

7 7 Examples: Washington, D.C. - after a sermon a man gave message in Tongues... Another interpreted - When finished a man from back walked up and spoke a foreign language - Man who spoke in Tongues didn t understand... - Persian said he spoke his language and dialect perfectly - Gave his life to God Another time man walked in off street to open door service - After service he came up front and watched people - Tongues was given and interpretation also - Then he ran to alter and gave his life to Jesus -... saying that God had spoken to him saying it was his time to get saved THESE ARE MOMENTS when you re glad for the Gifts of the Spirit - You can t get a muslim saved on human means - You need the Supernatural to convince him that there is something more Lester Sumrall s testimony... - Believed every pastor should interpret... but he didn t - South Bend first time in Church - Lester tried to hurry Lester Sumrall has heard little child speak intongues given in English...

8 then someone interpreted it in their native language 8 We need Gift of Tongues... - to build us up - as our prayer language praying supernaturally - It magnifies God - It builds yourself up - It is a source of intercessory prayer - Source of Spiritual refreshing Don t let the devil or any denomination or pastor rob you of what God wants to do in and through you for these end times. - DESIRE MORE AND MORE OF GOD!!!!!
