Almighty God, your sovereign purpose brings salvation to birth. WORD First Reading Daniel 12:1-3 God will deliver the people. 1 At that time Michael, the great prince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish, such as has never occurred since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book. 2 Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Second Reading Hebrews 10:11-25 The way to God through Christ. 11 And every priest stands day after day at his service, offering again and again the same sacrifices that can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since then has been waiting until his enemies would be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. 15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds, 17 he also adds, I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more. 18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin. 19 Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Not one stone will be left here upon another; all will be thrown down. 3 When he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately, 4 Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign that all these things are about to be accomplished? 5 Then Jesus began to say to them, Beware that no one leads you astray. 6 Many will come in my name and say, I am he! and they will lead many astray. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is still to come. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. Hymn of the Day Christ, Be Our Light #715 Prayers of the People With the people of God gathered here and throughout the word, we offer our prayers for the church, the world, and all people in need. 3

4 Gracious God, you made the church through the working of the Holy Spirit, and you provide the assurance of faith through your Son. Guide us in our proclamation of the gospel. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. You created all things and said your creation was good. Protect land and water from harm, cause all living things to thrive, and raise up stewards for the well-being of creation. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. You desire peace for the whole world. Provide refuge for those in harm s way, bring an end to war, and instill in political leaders the love for all that comes from you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. You reveal your compassion through caregivers, advocates, and medical professionals. Heal the sick, deliver the suffering, bind up the brokenhearted, provide shelter for the homeless and food for the hungry. We pray especially those we bring before you now out loud or in silent prayer. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. You bless us in our coming and our going, in our waking and our sleeping, and in our daily work. Make our love and good deeds a reflection of the freedom you give us in Christ Jesus. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. We pray for our Bishops Susan and Sid, all our bishops, pastors, diaconal ministers, our lay leaders and all in ministry, Resurrection Lutheran Church and our brothers and sisters in Christ around the globe. Strengthen all who minister in your name. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. You grant everlasting life. Through the witness of your saints who now rest in the Lord, inspire us in our lives of faithful service. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Saskatoon Children s Choir Rehearsal CHOIR Choir will be singing December 2 nd, the 16 th, and if there are enough choir members, the 23 rd. Rehearsals will be at 9:00 am Sunday mornings beginning November 18 th. ICE SCULPTURE For Sale: 3 strings of Purple LED lights from last year s Advent Candle display. Each string is complete with two (2) extra bulbs and a fuse. The cost is $10.00/string. The money raised will be used to buy new red LED lights for this year s display. The lights are in basket on back table. Thanks to the help of Don Meister and Anna Jensen, we are almost complete on the inside preparation work on this year s Ice Sculpture display. The plan is to work on Saturday Nov. 24 th to finish building the poinsettia leaves (about 40 to finish shaping), construct six larger poinsettia, install the lighting and move the structure outside, ready to start icing when the weather is cold enough (yes, you can pray to cold weather to come in December). We are looking for help to finish the inside work on Saturday Nov. 24 th. Don will be at the church at 9:00 am ish. Come when you can, bring a lunch if you wish, we will work until we are done. Suggest that you wear a pair of work gloves. Thank you. OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST 1. If you would like to meet with a group who sews quilts for Canadian Lutheran World Relief please join us at Redeemer Lutheran Church on these dates: November 22, December 6. We start at 9 AM and sew until about 3:30 PM. You can bring your sewing machine or just come to press, cut, pin, encourage or create. Chaplain George Hind, Lutheran Campus Ministry, says, Thanks to all who contributed baked goods to the Campus Centre. Our cookie jar (and freezer) has gone from scarcity to abundance! Interchurch Health Ministries Fundraising Dinner: ICHM Saskatchewan is the local organization that provides training and support for parish nurses who work in our congregations and communities to nurture healing in body, mind, and spirit. You are invited to attend a fundraising dinner to support this vital ministry on Sunday, November 18, 2018, 5:30 pm Reception, 6:00 pm Dinner at Rock of Ages (130 Kingsmere Place). Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased from Harold Hesje at Come and enjoy a delicious meal, great musical entertainment, and a chance to learn a little more about parish nursing.
