Romans 3:31 (NIV) 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

1 Timothy 1:3-4 (NIV) 3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer 4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith.

1 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) 7 They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

Iowa Law This is an unprecedented move by a government agency to mandate that anytime a church opens its doors to the public that it automatically qualifies as a place of public accommodation, Youman said. And this is just the tip of the ice berg.

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. A. The improper use of God s Law is to try to be saved by keeping it. Philippians 3:4-6 (NIV) 4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless.

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. A. The improper use of God s Law is to try to be saved by keeping it. Matthew 23:25-28 (NIV) 25 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. A. The improper use of God s Law is to try to be saved by keeping it. 27 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. A. The improper use of God s Law is to try to be saved by keeping it. Matthew 19:16-26 (NIV) 16 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" 17 "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." 18 "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, "'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. A. The improper use of God s Law is to try to be saved by keeping it. 19 honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'" 20 "All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?" 21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." 22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. A. The improper use of God s Law is to try to be saved by keeping it. 23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" 26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. A. The improper use of God s Law is to try to be saved by keeping it. Our Problem: GOD (Holy) Separation Can you ever be as good a s God? NO! MAN (Sinful) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23 (NIV),

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. A. The improper use of God s Law is to try to be saved by keeping it. Romans 3:19-20 (NIV) 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. B. The proper use of God s Law is to bring conviction of sin. 9 We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers--and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

I. The proper use of the Law is not as a means of salvation, but to bring conviction of sin. vs We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. B. The proper use of God s Law is to bring conviction of sin. James 2:10 (NIV) 10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. A. The gospel brings spiritual healing. 1 Timothy 1:13-15 (NIV) 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. B. The gospel reveals the glory of the blessed God. John 3:16 (NIV) 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. B. The gospel reveals the glory of the blessed God. Galatians 3:19 (NIV) 19 What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come.

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. C. The gospel is entrusted to redeemed sinners to proclaim to lost sinners. 1 Timothy 1:1 (NIV) 1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. C. The gospel is entrusted to redeemed sinners to proclaim to lost sinners. Ephesians 6:20 (NIV) 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. C. The gospel is entrusted to redeemed sinners to proclaim to lost sinners. 1 Timothy 1:12 (NIV) 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service.

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. C. The gospel is entrusted to redeemed sinners to proclaim to lost sinners. 1 Timothy 1:18 (NIV) 18 Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight,

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. C. The gospel is entrusted to redeemed sinners to proclaim to lost sinners. 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NIV) 20 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.

II. The result of using the Law properly is to drive people to the gospel for salvation. V that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. C. The gospel is entrusted to redeemed sinners to proclaim to lost sinners. Galatians 6:9 (NIV) 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
