Zastrow, Pastor Mary Sprick, Secretary ebenezerlutheranchurch.wordpress.com Palm Sunday Humble and Obedient... unto Death March 31 & April 1, 2012 AS WE GATHER: Jesus' life of perfect obedience leads Him finally to the gates of Jerusalem. He must now fulfill the prophecies regarding the coming King of Israel. He does that in memorable fashion, turning the people's expectations upside down by an entrance marked by humility and solemnity. In this most holy of weeks, our Lord calls on each of us, not to cheer from the sidelines, but rather to join with Him in His walk to the cross and the empty tomb. May His Spirit bless you this week as you take that walk. PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP: Most merciful God, as the people of Jerusalem, with palms in their hands, gathered to greet Your dearly beloved Son when He came into His Holy City, grant that we may ever hail Him as our King and, when He comes again, may go forth to meet Him with trusting and steadfast hearts and follow Him in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. O God, who through Your prophets foretold our King's coming: we give You thanks for fulfilling Your Word, and we pray that You would use these palms to remind us of the day He entered Jerusalem. 8 OUR MISSION AND MNISTRY IN OUR PRAYERS: In our prayers this morning, we remember our many shut-ins and friends of Ebenezer, that they will be granted healing and comfort, especially Paula Sprick, who remains at Cedarcrest Manor in Washington; Eric Hohlt, Yvonne Gleitz, Hulda Althage, Darlene McDaris, who has been hospitalized; Irene Bargen, Adeline Keune, Mathilde Ohse, Ada Groppe, Ardell Wagner, Ed Gardner, Brian Strauser, Edna Deppermann, Delores Roehrs, Beth Pelster, and all those we hold dear in our hearts. We pray that the Lord will guide our Church leaders to fulfill God s will and purpose. Bless us with faithful pastors and Church workers who will faithfully steward God s Word to us and to bless our missionaries, Robin McCoy, John Strasen and Mike and Cindy Rodewald. 9 Easter Egg Hunt Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be following the 10:00 AM service on Easter Sunday. Donations of pre-decorated hardboiled eggs or plastic eggs would be greatly appreciated. Please bring them on Holy Saturday or Easter Sunday morning to the kitchen. The hunt is open to children from birth to age 7 or second grade. Have fun! Easter Breakfast The Education Committee and our Thrivent Group will host an Easter Breakfast after the sunrise service on Easter Sunday, April 8, Plan to join us for rolls, donuts, ham, breakfast casseroles, juice, coffee and milk. A free will offering will be taken for the Leslie Food Pantry. Hope to see you there!! St. John s Casco United Church of Christ will have a Pasta Dinner on Sunday, TODAY April 1, 2012 with serving from 11:30AM 2:00 PM. The Easter Bunny will be here so bring your cameras for the Easter Egg Hunt! Free Will offering! Bring a canned food item for our Spring Tri-Pantry Food Drive Please see the poster on our bulletin board for more information! East Central College is hosting a Community Closet clothing drive. They are asking our parishioners for donations of gently used professional clothing and accessories to help our students as they seek jobs in the area. All sizes are needed. There is a flyer on our bulletin board with event details. Donations of clothing and accessories may be dropped off at the ECC Bookstore, room MP14, located on the lower level of the Multipurpose Building March 26 th. Clothing selection will begin for ECC students on April 12 th from 10 AM to 2 PM and from 3 PM to 5 PM. The clothing will be available to the community on April 13 from 9 AM to noon. Any clothing not chosen will be donated to area charities. Donations to this event are tax deductible. For more 9

Ebenezer Mission Society The Mission Society is collecting and underwear and diapers for Orphan Grain Train. When we get more Pastor and Margaret will deliver them. They must be new, as used underwear cannot get past customs in some countries. If you wish to donate, you can leave your items in the Church basement in the box marked Orphan Grain Train. You can read about Orphan Grain Train at Thank you! Picnic Silent Auction June 19 th I want to thank everyone for making the Silent Auction a success in the past. It is once again time to get donations for this year s Silent Auction on June 10 th. Please help by gathering donations again. Donation letters are on the table in the back of the Church. Take some to use at restaurant of businesses that you frequent. It is a great chance for them to advertise by giving a gift certificate of item. If you have a special talent (crafts, baking, crochet, knitting, etc.) donate some of your work. Variety is appreciated and makes the auction fun for all. Items that you have to donate should be labeled for Silent Auction as well as price & donor. Please put them in the Quilter s Room or Church office as early as possible so paper work for the auction can be completed. If you have a perishable item such as baked goods, or plants, fill out the information for paperwork and bring the item later. There will be a basket with forms in the old basement and in the back of the 10

11 church. I would appreciate all item information no later than June 5 if at all possible so paperwork can be completed in a timely manner. Your help is greatly appreciated.
