Every time we gather in the Lord s house for worship, our time together can also be seen as a Father s Day. As we are reminded in our Readings, God, our heavenly Father, has reconciled us to Himself through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. By our Father s grace, we are made His treasured possession. As those who receive His Word and are filled with His Spirit, He forms us into a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. We approach Him directly and confidently as children do their loving Father. May your time in our Father s house be blessed this day for this day is His day! PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP: Eternal Father, You sent Your Son to be the Shepherd and Savior who has reconciled us to You. Send us forth as laborers in Your harvest that the message of Your kingdom may be made known in all the world; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION Based on Exodus 19:2 8 God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God. Let us join together and confess our sins to God our Father: Heavenly Father, even though You have called us to be Your treasured possession, we have not always obeyed Your voice, nor have we abided by our covenant with You. In our thoughts, words, and deeds, we have not behaved like the holy nation You created us to be. Through Your unfailing love and tender mercy, remove our transgressions from us. Speak over us words of life that flow from the cross of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Father, forgive us and restore us as Your children. Amen. All that the Lord has spoken, His Son has done. Jesus obedient life was lived for you so that, by His death and resurrection, you are now reconciled to the Father. 10 Thank you to our Congregation A special thank you to all our members who volunteered their precious time to make our picnic a success along with their gift of food and materials. Especially we wish to thank members who went beyond the call of duty by doing extra work to make the picnic possible. We served about 400 dinners. With the extra food we were able to donate many dinners to the New Haven Senior Center and provide ice cream and drinks for our 2017 Vacation Bible School. Many members expressed a wish to continue our picnic for the fellowship it provides. A final report of the picnic will be coming shortly on expenses and profits. A special thank you to all our members who volunteered their time to make this possible. Recycle Update - We are pleased to report the addition of $14.90 from recycle aluminum and $34.21 in cash donations from the Sunday School Birthday Bank. This brings our recycle aluminum total to $5, and our cash donations total to $2, Our grand total for all recycle is $10, Sincere thanks for your help and support in recycle for missionaries. VBS - It is almost Vacation Bible School time! Our theme for VBS this year is Mighty Fortress In Jesus the Victory Is Won! Kids confidently celebrate that Jesus, their champion, has won the victory over sin, death, and Satan; that He acts through His Word and keeps His promises. God s victory is shown in the Bible accounts of the fall of Jericho, God s rescue of King Hezekiah s kingdom, King Josiah s reading of God s Word, the Savior King s triumphal entry, and Jesus victory through His death and resurrection. VBS MUSIC We welcome Otis Woodward, the son of Otis to again help us with the music program! Otis is with Lutheran Outreach of North St. Louis area. Our mission projects for this year are Grace s Place in Washington, MO, Otis Woodard s Lutheran Outreach of St. Louis, and backpacks loaded with school supplies for area public schools. If anyone would like to donate toward the mission projects, we are accepting nonperishable food,

13 hygiene supplies, and new school supplies (see the supply list in the newsletter). In order to remember our 2017 VBS the children will be designing a T-shirt. 14 An Urgent message from Emily Thoenen of Lutheran Family and Children Services of Missouri Union Office: I am reaching out to the faith based community in the Franklin County area for assistance with the great need for foster parents in the Franklin County area. I am currently getting several s a week from the Children s Division in which they are looking for foster homes for foster children because they do not have adequate homes in this area. LFCS licenses and trains foster parents for use by Children s Division as well as with our own cases. I am asking that you please consider sharing the attached flyers in your bulletin and anywhere you think may be a benefit and people will see the flyer. When we do not have enough foster homes, children get placed outside of the community that they are familiar with. This causes undue hardships on the children and makes things like visits with family difficult. I appreciate any and all help you are able to give. The next informational meeting will be held at our office in Union on 6/21 from 6-7pm. Thank you so very much! These you will have to accept, and you will have to let them govern you and torment you. Because the Gospel has been refused and even persecuted in our Germany, the corners are full of sectarians, fanatics, and Anabaptists; and there is nothing anyone can do to prevent it. The right preventive measure here would be to take the Gospel seriously and to pray God faithfully that He may send true and faithful laborers into His harvest (Matt. 9:38). LW 21:227
