Feedback We appreciate and take into consideration any feedback on the curriculum leaders are able to provide. Feedback can be given by writing it on a paper and sending it back in the folder or by ing Caitlin at kleinpastec@xenos.org. When giving feedback, please consider the following items: Other activities, verses, games, crafts, small group questions that could be added to a lesson Other lessons that could be added to a series Things that detract from the quality of a lesson and how to make them better New series that your students would be interested in learning about Note that feedback on a particular teaching should go to the teacher, but feedback on the curriculum should go to Caitlin. Thank you! Discovery Bible Study Some small groups have found it helpful to build community in their classes by asking the following questions first in a small group. Often these will be all a small group gets through in a week. This is actually really good, as they give the kids a chance to build in healthy life-long patterns of fellowship and relating to God. What is one thing you are thankful for? Goal: Build gratitude What is one thing you are worried/concerned about? Goal: Go to God with the things that worry us What is one need in your community (any group of people you are a part of friends, TNT, school, neighborhood, etc.) Goal: Notice needs around us/ministry What is one way that we can help one another with these needs? (Pray, come over and visit, etc.) Goal: Help one another with needs/ministry Did you do the thing you committed to do last week? Goal: Accountability
Lesson
Lesson 1: Why Share? Teaching Outline Passages Matthew 28:18-20 Luke 15 2 Corinthians 5:20 Ephesians 6:19-20 Colossians 4:3-4 2 Peter 3:9 Main Point Sharing your faith is a loving act that God wants you to do Supporting Points What is sharing your faith? Also known as evangelism, it s telling other people about God s love for them, that He died for each of us because we are sinful and need forgiveness. He offers that forgiveness to us freely. Why should I share my faith? It s a loving act that God wants us to do (how much would you have to hate someone to want them to suffer for all eternity?) (Matt 28:18-20, 2 Cor 5:20) It s good for us: when we do things that are important to God, we become more like Him (Romans 12:1-2, Luke 15, 2 Peter 3:9) Sharing your faith is one of the most exciting things that we get to do as a Christian. There s nothing better than seeing your friend become a Christian. Antithesis Selfishly ignoring the need that other people have Application Pray first! Even the Apostle Paul realized that he needed prayer to be able to do this well. (Eph 6:19-20, Col 4:3-4) Pray that God would give you compassion for people, and for opportunities to share your faith. Pray that God would reveal himself to other people Think about how you would want to approach your friends that don t know God. Share your faith! Small Groups Have you ever tried to talk to a friend about God, or invited them to church? How did that go? (small group leaders will probably have to start the discussion on this one) Why do you think that it s so important to God that we share about Him with people? Can He speak to people other ways? Why do you think that He chooses to speak through us? What would happen if you chose never to share about God with people? Do you have any success stories? What makes it a success? If we share about God (as he asks us to do) and they choose not to believe, is that still a success? (hint, the answer is yes) Who do you want to share your faith with? 11
Remote Spheres: October 14, 2018 Lesson 2: God s Part Teaching Outline Passages Luke 12:11-12 John 16:7-11 Acts 8:26-40 Galatians 5:22-23 Main Point It is God s job to draw lost people to Himself Supporting Points God promises to show people that they need Him, by convincing them that they have sinned and need forgiveness. God is the one who sets up our opportunities: Acts 8: Teacher may want to give a personal example of a divine appointment like this. Our job is to choose to share God with other people; God will handle the rest. The Holy Spirit will teach us what to say (Luke 12:11-12). The Holy Spirit will work in your own life so others can see (Gal 5:22-23). The Holy Spirit will give you wisdom about sharing your faith. Antithesis Trying to force someone to believe when they re not ready Application Trust that God will provide you with opportunities to share your faith. Look for the opportunities that God is giving you, and follow through with them. Learn about your own job (next week s teaching) Small Groups Read John 16:7-11. What does Jesus tell us about the Advocate (the Holy Spirit)? What does He do? How would someone act if they were trying to do God s job for Him? How would someone act if they were trusting God to do His job? What jobs does He leave for us? Has God ever brought anyone to you so that you could share with them? How did it go? How do you know if it s God telling you to do something, or if it s just a thought you had? How did you become convinced that you needed forgiveness? (Leaders may want to talk about their own conviction and salvation experience to get the ball rolling)
Remote Spheres: October 21, 2018 Lesson 3: Our Part Teaching Outline Passages Matthew 9:37-38 Romans 10:13-15 Acts 10: Peter 3:15 Main Point God will bring us chances to share -- our job is to speak up Supporting Points Last week was about God s role in evangelism (recap). Our role is described in Romans 10:13-15 We can see an awesome example of Peter fulfilling his role in Acts 10 Antithesis Sitting back and doing nothing laziness, fear Application A lot of this teaching will be focused on application it is our part, after all God has prepared people to meet Him through you. We need to initiate (Walk across the room). Be nice to new people (1 Peter 3:15). Invite people to church Ask friends if they believe in God Small Groups Read Matthew 9: What does this verse tell us about the opportunities God has for us? When sharing your faith with someone: Do you think it s easier to ask someone a question, or to explain your beliefs? Is it more important to find out what someone else believes or to explain what you believe? Why? Does anyone have an example of a time that God gave them a chance and they took it? What happened?
Remote Spheres: October 28, 2018 Lesson 4: Live as a Chris- Teaching Outline Passages Matthew 5:13-16, 15:8, 25:3-40 Galatians 5:22-23 Main Point Live out your faith so that other people will see it and praise God Supporting Points Let who you are show that you know God (Matthew 5:13-16) God expects us to be kind and good-hearted towards people, and he empowers us to do that. (Galatians 5:22-23) This is to show people what God is really like. People will often find that this is attractive and wonder about it, leading to an opportunity to tell them about God. Antithesis Allowing yourself to be like everyone else Application People around us should notice us in a good way. Let people see your good deeds, and give the credit for them to God. Don t fake it: People can often tell when you re not being honest. Small Groups What do you think it means to be different in a good way? What sorts of things stop you from living as God wants us to? Why do these things stop you? Discuss what controls us fear or God? How can we let go of our fears and let God control us more? How can you share the good things you ve done without bragging? How can you honor God in your life?

4th St. 10am Lesson 2: God s Part Marshmallow Shooter Supplies Sent: Plastic cup (1/student) Balloons (1/student) Pompoms Supplies in Classroom: Scissors Connection to teaching: Trying to share the gospel without remembering God s part is like trying to shoot a marshmallow by stepping on it. God is the one who gives the power to the message, who created the message, who directs where it goes. Instructions: 1. Cut the bottom part off of your plastic cup. I found it worked best to double up the cups and I cut off the bottom third. 2. Tie a knot at the end of your balloon and cut off about 1/2" from the other end. 3. Now stretch the balloon over the end of the cup. I found it worked best to put the balloon on the top part of the cup where the lip is, otherwise the cup would bend too much when I put the balloon on. 4. That's it! Now it's time to do some launching! Just put your mini marshmallow inside the cup on the knotted center, then aim the cup away from you, pull back on the outer knot and launch away! **NOTE** I have included only pompoms because I don t want to deal with finding marshmallows in random corners for the next year. At home, they can use marshmallows and they go WAY farther. 28
