Let s swallow them alive, like Sheol, still healthy as they go down to the Pit. We ll find all kinds of valuable property and fill our houses with plunder. Throw in your lot with us, and we ll all share our money. Proverbs 1:10-14

10 So then, we must pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another. Do not tear down God s work because of food. Everything is clean, but it is wrong for a man to cause stumbling by what he eats. It is a noble thing not to eat meat, or drink wine, or do anything that makes your brother stumble. Romans 14:19-21

11 Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves. Each one of us must please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even the Messiah did not please Himself. On the contrary, as it is written, the insults of those who insult You have fallen on Me. Romans 15:1-3

It is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell the unquenchable fire, [where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] And if your foot causes your downfall, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell [the unquenchable fire, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.]

15 And if your eye causes your downfall, gouge it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 9:43-48

16 WRONG ATTITUDES Sin is bad when it hurts people.

19 God s Attitude - Sin is always wrong, and it leads to death.

27 RIGHT ATTITUDE TOWARD SIN To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech. Proverbs 8:13

29 For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good, but if the salt should lose its flavor, how can you make it salty? Have salt among yourselves and be at peace with one another. Mark 9:49-50

30 You are to season each of your grain offerings with salt; you must not omit from your grain offering the salt of the covenant with your God. You are to present salt with each of your offerings. Leviticus 2:13

31 You rejoice in this, though now for a short time you have had to struggle in various trials so that the genuineness of your faith more valuable than gold, which perishes though refined by fire may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:6-7

34 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled on by men. You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:13-14

35 No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:15-16

36 APPLICATION 1. Pursue holiness Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1

37 APPLICATION 2. Confess and forsake your sin Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. James 5:16

38 APPLICATION 2. Confess and forsake your sin He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion. Proverbs 28:13
