What the Bible Says Read 1st John 5:13 Does God want you to have an assurance of salvation?. Assurance of salvation means to know for you belong to God, that you have eternal salvation. This assurance is true because the Word of God is true. The Word of God, or the Holy Bible, or the Holy Scriptures is not like any other book. The Bible has always been the world s number one best seller. The Bible has been translated into more languages than any other book in the world. And God has preserved and watched over every word. 1st Thessalonians 2:13 It is the of. 2nd Peter 1:20-21 These verses teach that the Bible was not made by - Men of wrote the Bible - God is the - God used over 40 different men, over 1,500 years, from all different backgrounds to write down each word He wanted written. Most of the human writers God used to pen His Words knew each other. And yet the Bible completely agrees from beginning to end. Plus the Bible has never missed its predictions of thousands of events. It s important to know that God s enemy, Satan, works against Him and the Bible. He has tried to ban, burn and remove the Bible throughout history. Countless Christian men and women have given their lives for the Word of God. And still today, false teachers try to pervert the Word of God and, sadly, some have tried to produce new bibles for profit. Matthew 24:35 His Words shall not pass. God does watch over each word. Psalm 12:6-7 God promised to His words forever. Psalm 119:160 Because the Bible is inspired of God, it is from beginning to end. It is God s Word. This makes it have authority over our lives. And because God is the author of the Bible, we must take it as the only authority for all we believe and do. Your assurance of salvation is based upon the reliable Word of God. And you must always check every, teaching or with the Word of God. The Word of God assures you of your salvation. This is why we must be daily in the Word. In summary, the most important reason for us to believe in the final authority of the Word of God is that God wrote it. Now let s look at promises in the Bible about assurance of salvation. 2. In summary, we see that your assurance is based upon the reliability of the Word of God, and the specific promises in God s Word, now we look at another way to know that your salvation is eternal: 3. Our Union with Christ One of the most important days of the year for Bible-believers is the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead. It is important because those who have trusted in Him will also be resurrected from the dead. The Resurrection is also important for another reason; after Jesus ascended up to heaven, He sent to live in all who receive Him as Savior. His Spirit lives in you now. That same Spirit of God that resurrected our Lord is alive in you to help you. Romans 8:11 God is in heaven but He is also in with you now and forever. God wants this truth to bring you an assurance of your salvation. Romans 8:9 The Holy Spirit comes to in the believer. 1st John 5:10 I know I am saved because I have the of the Spirit within. In summary, we have seen that your assurance is based upon the reliability of the Word of God, we have seen the specific promises in God s Word, and we have seen that Christ is in union with each Believer. Now we look at another truth about your assurance of salvation: 4. But the power of Christ helps you each day. Jesus Christ died for you, but He also lives in you and is with you every moment of every day. In summary, you have the reliable Word of God, you have the promises of assurance in the Word of God, the Spirit of God in you, and your new relationship in God s family to give you the Assurance of your Salvation.
