Saint Peter tells us that it was in the name of Jesus that the crippled man was healed. The psalm reminds us that Jesus is the stone rejected by the builders that has become the cornerstone. And Jesus himself reminds us in today s Gospel that he is the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. So today we gather in the name of the one who is healer, a rejected stone that became the cornerstone, a good shepherd, and ultimately the one who laid down his own life to save us from our sins. Let us absorb the richness of the Lord Jesus made present in the proclamation of today s readings. From Saint Margaret Sunday Missal, copyright J. S. Paluch Company

Patrick O Neill Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated on May 17, 2015 at 12:00 (Noon) St. Alexander Catholic Church 7025 West 126th Street Palos Heights, IL A light luncheon to follow Mass in the Parish Center Questions? Call Joan at (708) This Fourth Sunday of Easter is traditionally referred to as Good Shepherd Sunday. Today we listen to the words of the Lord as he refers to himself as the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. It is sometimes so difficult for us to grasp the reality that anyone would lay down his or her own life for the sake of someone else. This is especially true in a society that places high value on power and personal advancement, often at the cost of trampling on other people in order to climb the ladder. Today s scriptures point to the one we are called to emulate the one who lays down his life for his sheep. Today s scriptures challenge us to discover ways to bring life to those around us to build up rather than to tear down. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. THE GLORY OF GOD The glory of God is humanity fully alive. St. Irenaeus

Their faithfulness in making sure all goods are in-date, sorted properly, and put on the appropriate shelves to allow them to efficiently put together a balanced assortment of staples and extras in each bag, is greatly appreciated, especially by those we serve! 10 Page Ten Fourth Sunday of Easter April 26, 2015 THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS UPON US That was the mantra that resounded throughout St. Cletus last Sunday. The rain waited but the wind of the Spirit could be felt within the gathering of Confirmation candidates, sponsors and families. Seventy-seven strong young people declared their own Amen when sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Despite having surgery earlier in the week, Bishop Manz conferred the sacrament assisted by our parish priests and deacon and Fr. Tom Hurley. We are grateful for the jubilant music provided by the Contemporary Choir, the devoted teaching of the catechists: Mrs. Pat Rotunno, Mrs. Barb Pristo, Mrs. Karen McDonnell, & Ms. Jorie Pristo; and the primary nurturers of faith, the parents of the Confirmandi. Let us continue to pray for these young folks as they use the gifts they ve been blessed with to witness to the faith they profess. Paulette Bolton, Director of Catechesis We apologize for the accidental omission of Thomas Augustine Lattner s name as one of the 2015 Confirmandi class. Do you ever ask Jesus what He wants you to do? How do you listen for the response? The answer is usually in quiet whisper. Take time in silent, daily prayer to hear his answer. ST.
