1 4Ws for Week 31, 28 July 3 August 2014 WELCOME (15 minutes) Choose one of the following icebreakers: (If you have first-time guests, begin with a round of introductions and warmly welcome the new visitors. Note that the third icebreaker is suitable for use at the Family Altar Time for families with teenage children.) UP Play this game just like the way we play 7 UP. Let each player take turn to call a number in ascending order from 1 to 100 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 UP 100). Every time number 12 and its multiples are called, instead of calling 12, that player has to shout 12 UP instead. Any player that fails to call 12 UP 2 times will do a forfeit. 2. 2 Sermon Title: Establishing the Kingdom of God by Pastor Cesar Castellanos on 27 July 2014 Memory verse of the week: Mark 10:15 (NIV) Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:9-10 (NIV) This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Introduction The world that we live in is a natural world but the Kingdom of God is a supernatural world. From Ephesians 1:3, we know that God has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. There are some Christians who do not experience the blessings and prosperity that God has promised in His Word. To overcome this, we have to learn to establish the Kingdom of God in our lives. Discovery and Understanding Questions Q1. Before we can establish the Kingdom of God in our lives, we must enter into the Kingdom of God. How do we enter into the Kingdom of God? A1: In John 3:5, Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. To enter into the Kingdom of God is to experience a spiritual birth by believing in Jesus Christ who has saved us from our sins. When we are bornagain, we will also be able to receive what God speaks to us in His spiritual language, through visions and words of knowledge. Q2. Once we have entered the Kingdom of God, we need to know how to access the spiritual blessings that God has already promised us in Ephesians 1:3. The way we draw down blessings by faith from this heavenly bank is like that way we would use a debit card. The following 4 numbers will form the pin code that will help us to access our bank of spiritual blessings: Number 1: Know what God has to say about your need Q2a. Read Mark 5:25-34, what did the woman know about what Jesus can do for her need? A2a. The woman knew that Jesus can heal her bleeding that went on for 12 years which no doctor could heal. Number 2: Visualise the Miracle Number 3: Confess the Miracle Q2b. What did the woman visualize and confess in her thoughts when she knew that Jesus could heal her? 2

3 A2b. She thought, If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed. We need to confess and declare the promises that we want to receive over our lives and not the lies and deception that the evil one puts into our minds. Number 4: Perseverance Q2c. How did the woman who bled persevere to receive healing? A2c. The crowd that surrounded Jesus was so great that people were pressing against one another, which made it difficult for the woman to go near to Jesus. However, the woman never gave up, she persevered to get through the crowd to touch the cloak of Jesus so that she received the healing that she needed. Without the number 4 in the pin, the 3-numbered pin code will not work. Perseverance is key. When we see obstacles, we should not conform to the situation, but persevere in our faith to clear all obstacles to reach Jesus and His promises. The faith of the bleeding woman healed her. Mark 5:25-34 (NIV) 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed. 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. 30 At once Jesus realised that power had gone out from him. He turned round in the crowd and asked, Who touched my clothes? 31 You see the people crowding against you, his disciples answered, and yet you can ask, Who touched me? 32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering. Application Questions Q1. How do you know that you are born-again Christian? For those who do not know Christ in the open cell, invite them to receive Jesus into their lives. Q2. Is there a need in your life that you want to ask God to bless you? Share what you think God can do for you, visualize it and confess it aloud by faith. Pair up and pray for each other regarding the needs that have been shared. 3

4 Family Altar Time This Week (Cell Leader: Encourage your members to keep up with the F.A.T. and refer them to this segment of the 4Ws for suggestions for their weekly F.A.T.) You may use the third icebreaker suggested in the WELCOME segment above and worship songs that are meaningful to your family. It is a good idea to have your children select the songs or even lead the worship if they are old enough. After worship, you may wish to: 1) discuss last Sunday s Family Bible Study in the Living Life journal, or 2) review your children s take-home materials from GKidz, or 3) review and discuss this week s memory verse, or 4) read the story of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25-34 and briefly summarize the four points on how we can draw down blessings from our heavenly bank account. Ask questions to draw the four points out of your children. Then ask if there is any problem or need your family faces and what you can do to draw down the heavenly blessings. End by joining hands and praying aloud for the problems and needs that face and praying together for all your 3x3 contacts. Be sure to get your children to pray aloud with you and even lead in praying for certain needs. Transition to Works: Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with faith to establish God s Kingdom in our lives and bring His Kingdom into the lives of those that You have led us to reach. WORKS (15 minutes) 1. 3x3 Prayer As we continue in the 3x3 prayer, ask the Lord to give us faith to believe that He is greater than the problems that we see in the lives of our friends, so that we pray with faith and perseverance. 2. Invite Someone to Church Let the members share with one another the name of the person that each of them want to invite to church this weekend. 3. Consolidation of New Converts Follow up with the new converts who accepted Christ by bringing them to the Pre-Encounter class. The goal of the Pre-Encounter is to help the new believer begin his new life in Christ and prepare him for a life-changing encounter with God at the Encounter Weekend. The Pre-Encounter classes are held at TOUCHCENTRE. Attendance for Sessions 1 & 2 is required in order to complete Pre-Encounter. All classes are on a walk-in registration basis.
