1 Be something different... In the time of Queen Esther in the Bible, it was said of the Jews that they were a people who lived under a different law, lived a different way. We too are called to live as aliens in a foreign land, to live differently. (1Peter 2:11) We ought to be forgiving, committed, peaceable, patient, caring, generous, filled with praise and thanksgiving. As an outcome, because of our good deeds, others will glorify God! (1 Peter 2:12) Before I came to Christ, worry and fear plagued my mind. Anxiety took up a lot of my energy energy which could have furthered healthy relationships and personal growth. Surrendering to Jesus brought me peace and opened doors of relationship and service to others that I had never considered before. When the Jews, exiled from their homeland, chose to give themselves fully to God, He changed their hearts, their hopes, their lives. Mordecai and Esther responded to conflict and challenges by entreating their fellow Jews to fast. Esther did not just grit her teeth, summon her own strength, and put up a strong front. She sought spiritual support and surrendered herself, ready to sacrifice all, saying, If I perish, I perish. (Esther 4:16) God has chosen us, like Esther and Mordecai, to participate in rescuing others. You may ask, How can we do that? In Acts 3:6, the Apostle Peter said, Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give to you. By taking what you have (salvation, resources, hope), step out and meet a need. God will grant you joy in sharing and provide further direction in the midst of it. When I came to Christ Center I had never taught children in church, but in meeting a need and giving what I have, many children s lives have been touched. And I discovered a source of great delight! Today, I challenge you to step out; be and do something different. God will touch others through you. And when they glorify God, your soul will rejoice!

2 Trina Zweigle gave her life to Jesus Christ on August 11, After being given a Bible and a spiritual prescription, Trina decided to dig into the Scripture on her own! It didn t take long before the answer to life s problems was right in front of her, salvation in Jesus Christ. Trina has been a faithful attendee at Christ Center Chelan since its inception. Trina was originally invited to Christ Center by the chaplains that served during the Carlton Complex fire in Pateros. As a survivor of that disaster, Trina experienced heartache and anxiety from the devastation caused by the fire. Despite the on-going trauma related to that event and the loss of her mother the year prior, Trina did not buckle but chose to rely on her community and the chaplains for consistent support. Though Trina has experienced numerous trials over the past few years, she plans to live her life with joy, knowing that the testing of her faith will produce a harvest of righteousness. When Trina arrived at Christ Center, she said she felt at home. From the friendliness of the greeters to the heart of the worship and the depth of the message, she felt God speaking directly into her life on a weekly basis. We are very proud to claim Trina as a sister in Christ and are now looking forward to baptizing her in Lake Chelan! During the Slime Time series, kids will be molding, shaping and diving into (with their hands that is) great globs of goo to uncover some of the grosser parts of God s Word. Special Event: Cooking with Kids! Every month we have a special event and this one is coming up Sunday night September :30 PM at Kid Krazy where kids will learn some cooking skills.
