Do you? It is always an expectation of renewal, of a different reality than we have in front of us. It is about God, about God s mighty effort to garner our attention and asking us, through Jesus Christ, to respond. How do we do this? How do we respond to the power that created everything, the power that loves us beyond anything we could imagine? We submit our being, who we are, in acknowledgement, saying yes, and then carrying that yes into the human community where we live. This Advent season, say yes with all of your heart and mind and soul and strength. Say yes! Blessings, Steve

2 PAGE 2 PARISH VISITOR DECEMBER 2014 REMEMBER THEM AT CHRISTMAS! MILITARY TUMC is collecting items for active military. Bring items and leave in box in lobby. Suggested items: socks, meats in foil, nuts, jerky, packaged cheese, crackers, cocoa & coffee, small stuffed animals, pumpkin/sunflower seeds, drink mixes, body wash/shampoo. Have items here by December 17th for pick-up on 18th. Nursing Home & Homebound Several TUMC members and associates are either at Bethany Home or basically homebound. Remember them with a card or a friendly visit or perhaps even a little something. Look for names, numbers, addresses, and birthdays on the board outside the Library. TUMC COLLEGE STUDENTS TUMC College students can always use a word from home and encouragement, especially with Finals coming up. TUMC College students names and addresses are available on the North side of Sanctuary in the stairwell. Pick a student (or two or three), send a card, or a little token of good will. Angel Tree Recipients Although most Angel Tree recipients have already been bought for, each year there is always a child or family that comes in need at the last minute, if you d be willing to provide for these, please let the office know! TUMC STAFF Do you appreciate the great talent of music Anita shares with us? Do you appreciate the direction of the Chancel Choir and Handbell choir given by Alyson? Do you appreciate the tidy facilities cared for by Steve M.? Do you appreciate the many programs given by Christian Ed under Kelley s direction? Do you appreciate everything Julie does to help keep the church running? Remember staff has not received a pay raise in over 6 years and many have had wage cuts. Show them you appreciate them with a gift of thanks! There is a box available by front doors of church. Make their Christmas a little brighter! Remember the gifts will be shared between the 5 employees (so if you put in $5 that is $1 a piece). Say thank you generously! (You may give individual gifts to employees if you prefer AND a separate envelop will be passed for Pastor Steve later in month.) Please have gifts given by December 14th.

3 DECEMBER 2014 PARISH VISITOR PAGE 3 Advent & Christmas Schedule December 3rd: Fellowship Meal (NEEDS COOKS!!), followed by Evening Grace and a special message How the Grinch Stole Advent? Children s choir practice at 6:30pm. At 7pm join Kelley for the Bible Study The Purpose of Christmas. December 7th: A Message of Hope, two services at 9am & 11am, Children s pageant practice at 10am December 14th: Children s Christmas Pageant, one service at 10am Come at 9:00am for fellowship time in Fellowship Hall! December 17th: Fellowship Meal (hot sandwiches), followed by Evening Grace. At 7pm The Purpose of Christmas. December 18th: Office closed at noon for TACOL Secretary Christmas Party. December 21st: Lessons & Carols, two services at 9am & 11am, and Breakfast with Santa at 10am, at 5pm a Blue Christmas Service will be held in Sanctuary. December 23rd: Shepherd s Run goodies must be at church by 4pm, Packing of Shepherd Run goodies will take place at 4pm. December 24th & 25th: Church office closed for Christmas! December 24th: A Very Casual Christmas at 5pm, Birthday Cake for Jesus at 6pm, A Traditional Christmas at 7pm (delivery of Shepherd s Run items any time-need volunteers). December 25th: OUR SAVIOR IS BORN! December 28th: One service at 10am in Fellowship Hall, Wesleyan Love Feast (bring a breakfast item to share). December 31st & January 1st: Church office closed for New Years. Join us for all of the festivities! Have a very blessed Christmas!
