3 3 JUNE Dear Brothers and Sisters in CHRIST JESUS, We are grateful to GOD for the wonderful response we had at the PENTECOST Rallies all over the city of Mumbai. May Our Lord help us to fan into flame the gift of the Holy Spirit which He has given us? For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands 2 Timothy 1:6 May the Holy Spirit continue to lead us in helping us fulfill the VISION of CCR in Mumbai of renewing the families in our parishes and may the Spirit of God continue to help us to be faithful to our Mission DIE (Discipleship, Intercession and Evangelization). In the Upper Room the Disciples were joined together in continuous PRAYER (Acts 1:14) They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the Mother of Jesus and with His brothers. We can sense that in this season of one Spirit, INTERCESSION is the need of the hour. So let's be steadfast in our prayer, engaging in deep intercession which as the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us Prayer that knows no boundaries (CCC 2647). We believe that through prayers of INTERCESSION Gods power working in us we can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20) Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us As I end, on behalf of the members of the Mumbai Service Team, we thank you for your continuous prayers and support. 4 AT MUMBAI CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL 4 THE SERVICE OF THE CHURCH AND HUMANIT Y Sunday 24th May 2015 was a Great Day the Birthday of the Church throughout the World, the Day of Pentecost. We were all preparing for this great day with the novenas for 9 days reflecting on the Fruit of the Holy Spirit and its meaning in depth which energized us for this great day. The prayer groups of North A & B zone gathered at Don Bosco's Borivli. A total of attended. Right from the start there was an awesome presence of the Holy Spirit. The praise and worship conducted by members representing various prayer groups was spirit filled. This was followed by two powerful testimonies. Br. Clifton Mendonca spoke on Vocations while Dhruv spoke on how he experienced salvation and restoration and how the Lord is working mightily in and through him for the salvation of others. The Eucharist was celebrated by Bishop John Rodrigues and concelebrated by Deacon Navin and Fr. Baptist, the spiritual director of Don Bosco Prayer group. During the homily, Bishop touched on two symbols of the Holy Spirit; FIRE and Pentecost Rally North A & B Zone Re-Ignited in the Spirit of the Lord. - Pentecost Rally at Kanjumarg & Mulund Zone The preparation of the Pentecost Rally held on 24th May, at St. Francis Xavier's Church Kanjurmarg (E) began with intercession including rosary for 2 Months (April-May) every day after mass concluding with a full night core team night vigil of Kanjurmarg Prayer Group and the Jericho March during the Prayer Meeting blessing the entire premises of the Church. The Rally had approximately 700+ participants. It was conducted in the church and live projection of the rally was displayed in the basement hall. Thus, the setup was beneficial for senior citizens including sick people and also avoided over-crowding in the church. An anointed praise and worship was conducted by music ministry of Our Lady of Lourdes Prayer Group, KanjurMarg. The preaching on the theme (2 Tim 1:7) was given by Fr. K. T. Emmanuel. He gave the background of the theme verse, and also gave a detailed explanation on the three aspects of the verse i.e. Power, Love & Self-Control. The talk was informative, True is the LORD in all His ways, when HE says's 'I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth' (Isaiah 43:19). The LORD opened the doors to have a fresh anointing of His Holy Spirit at Dombivli (Infant Jesus Church) and Kalyan-East and West parishes. Having this initiative thought spelt out by Fr. Daniel Fernandes, the team began to act immediately. A visit to the parish and a fruitful meeting with Fr. Victor (Parish Priest) had the doors opened for the Pentecost gathering from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The aim was that the people of God experience a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit and come to love the Lord even more and serve in their respective parishes. An anointed Praise and Worship time with a testimony was led by the Our Lady of Mercy Church (Pokran). The Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Daniel and Fr. Victor. The congregation was led to an awareness of BREATH of the HOLY SPIRIT. He took us deep into experiencing the Fire of the Holy Spirit within us and Breath of the Holy Spirit in the form of the Wind that blew on the day of Pentecost and the tongues of fire that rested on all those present in the upper room. After the mass there was a vote of thanks to the Parish Priest for all his support and assistance rendered towards the success of the Rally. Deacon Navin gave the most powerful talk on how to encounter fear. He spoke on two types of fears one that's within us & the other that's outside of us. He gave us various scripture verses which we could use to address our fears. He also said that we need to Praise the Lord more often & have a personal relationship with God.asking us to reflect on the hymn BLESSED ASSURANCE. Lastly, the icing on the cake - the infilling of the Holy Spirit led by Simon Serrao, powerful & spirit filled. Boosting & Leading all present there to go out in joyful service to the Lord. Astrid Fernandes-Lumin Christi prayer group, Borivali practical & introspective. Br. Leon, a seminarian from our archdiocese, gave his testimony about his vocation to priesthood. He shared about his personal difficulties & tragedies that he suffered during the discernment of his vocation. The testimony was a living example on how God works in our lives in difficult moments. Next the youth of various prayer groups led Intercession on Consecrated Life. After a short break we had the Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Ashlyn Chand who spoke on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. After the Eucharist, Fr. Ashlyn exposed the Blessed Sacrament & led an infilling session. Most of us experienced the anointing of the Holy Spirit & went home feeling Joyful & Blessed. Praise God for all that he has done!!! Valerian D'souza-Zonal Coordinator- Kanjur - Mulund Zone belongs to Our Lady of Lourdes prayer group, Kanjurmarg Pentecost Sunday - 23rd May - Come Holy Spirit a life lived in the Spirit. People affirmed after the rally of experiencing the love of the Lord. The Eucharist was followed into a blessed time during which people were made aware of how the Lord loving reaches out to us (in have a living relationship with us, heal us of the past and present and guide us into the future) in the power of His Holy Spirit. This was led by George Pereira though sharing and hymns that led the congregation to a surrender and recommitment to the LORD. People shared at the end of the rally viz. 'Can such gatherings be had again'. The team returned back rejoicing at the works the LORD had started. Thanking Jesus also for all the other thane prayer group leaders for their support through their intercessory teams. Sanjay Dighe - Zonal Coordinator - Thane zone, belongs to the St. John the Baptist prayer group, Thane Lily of the Valley Prayer Group, Mira Road Every Thursday in the Church from 7:30 pm. to 9 pm. Luke 10:27 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."

5 5 JUNE Pentecost Rally - Thane & Navi Mumbai Zone - Holy Spirit Let Your Fire Fall Parishes across Thane and Parts of Navi Mumbai joined hands together to celebrate Pentecost at St. John the Baptist Church, Thane. The celebration started with the welcoming and encouraging words of the Parish Priest Fr. Allwyn D'Souza followed by an anointed time of Praise & Worship led by the music ministry. Br Frankie Crasto; a seminarian gave an insightful testimony about 3 types of calling in our lives a call for priesthood, for singlehood & for having a family. He also testified how he discerned for his call for the vocation of priesthood & how God had a plan for him & a calling for him in spite of all the odds in his life. Continuing the spiritual rhythm of the evening, Fr. Daniel Fernandes Spiritual Director of the Prayer Group celebrated a wonderful mass and was accompanied by Fr. Joe D'Gama and our special speaker for the evening Deacon Ivan Fernandes. The highlight was the homily, Fr. Daniel explained how the early Catholics lived and shared their spiritual lives with each other and we all are called to follow their footsteps in our lives. Father also explained how the church is the only original and true ONE CHURCH which has its predecessor as St. Peter; appointed by Our Lord Jesus Himself at the start of its leadership till our present Holy Father Jorge Mario Bergoglio Pope Francis. Pentecost Rally At Kalina-Vakola-Kurla Zone Neither the tongues of fire, nor the wind that swept the upper room, on that blessed day of Pentecost, were manifested at the Zonal Pentecost Rally held at St. Anthony's church, Vakola. Yet, one could feel the presence and the anointing of the HOLY SPIRIT, if you were among the people that attended the rally from the Kalina- Vakola-Kurla Zone. The evening commenced with a time of Praising & Worshipping GOD. The Zonal Core Team's insistence that the Music Ministry (members from all prayer groups of the zone) meet at least 3-4 times before the program to pray together and practice bore fruit at the rally. Even in this program, we continued our focus on our vision of Renewing every Parish Family We did this by focusing on the JESUS Encounter Retreat (JER) as the primary tool to achieve our vision. Hence, we not only had an inspiring testimony of a retreatant, but we also had announcements about the JER at regular intervals throughout the program. In addition, a registration desk with a banner of the JER and some proactive volunteers was placed in the church compound. This helped us to get over 15 registrations for the retreat! More Parishioners joined us for the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Bishop Dominic Savio Allan Mathias I am from Our Lady Of Visitation Parish Nerul. I came here for the retreat with my son, Eldon Mathais.I had a skin allergy on my neck and shoulder, red in colour as if red lipstick was applied. The patches were dark red, and itching me. I went to the Doctor who He asked all of us to acknowledge the working of the Holy Ghost in oneness and not fall astray while serving the Church. He also encouraged us to keep manifesting the power of the Holy Spirit in evangelising wherever we go. The mass was nicely concluded by the harmonious music ministry singing Fire the Holy Fire it's the fire we need today. Deacon gave a vibrant talk on the Holy Spirit. He emphasised that we all are been given the same spirit which fell afresh on the disciples during 33 A.D. Further he explained us that we have the Holy Spirit of Boldness and Divinity and not a spirit of timidity. We all have to aim to rise to our highest standard in our spiritual walk and not get intimidated by the works of the evil one. The entire talk was nicely translated by Br. Eric in Hindi. The evening was ministered by George Pereira who prophesised that lives of the congregation attending this rally is going to be renewed and mightily used for the glory of God. He urged people to surrender themselves to The Lord and ask the Holy Spirit for a meaningful manifestation in their lives. Vote of Thanks was given by Victor and Sanjay for a fruitful evening to all gathered. Dr. Xavier Perez - Core Team Member, St. John the Baptist prayer group, Thane Fernandes {the Spiritual Director of the CCR} along with Fr. Clarence (the Spiritual Director of the St. Anthony's Prayer Group at Vakola). After the spiritual nourishment, it was time for physical nourishment and fellowship during the break! Later, an action song not only commenced the second half, but also redirected our hearts and minds to be focused on the Word of GOD that was broken to us by Carlos. His talk beautifully brought out the theme The HOLY SPIRIT - the SPIRIT of Love, Power and Sound Mind (2 Timothy 1:7). This being the Year of the Consecrated Life in the Church, we had a seminarian Br. Ashwyn share his testimony of his life and how he felt the calling to become a priest. This testimony had the capability to not only inspire the youth, but also the parents of youngsters who were present. The climax of the evening was the infilling of the HOLY SPIRIT, which was conducted by Dickson Mendes. Bishop made a prayer for infilling and later asked the congregation to Praise GOD. The power of the HOLY SPIRIT was manifest by the fruit of joy that that was visible in every person as they joyfully clapped and sang the final hymn. Oswin D'souza - Zonal Cordinator, Kalina-Kurla zone, belongs to Rose of Sharon prayer group, Kalina Jesus Encounter Retreat 10th to 12th April told me to watch what I ate. On the first day of the retreat during the holy Eucharist Fr. Vinay Kamat said that a person with skin allergy is being healed and the Lord is touching the person. I claimed the healing. From that day on, the skin allergy is gone. All Praise and Glory to God for His wonderful healing touch! Allan Mathais Our Lady Of Visitation Parish Nerul Our Lady of Assumption Prayer Group, Kandivli Every Thursday in the Church from 7:30 pm. to 9 pm. Zephaniah 3:18 "I will remove disaster from you, so that you will not bear reproach for it."

6 AT MUMBAI CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL 6 THE SERVICE OF THE CHURCH AND HUMANIT Y If God is with us who can be against us Romans 8:31.I want to thank and praise God for the Retreat He made me encounter which was the best ever I have experienced in all the retreat I have done so far. What was special that touch me was the very Ashley Lobo practical talk given by each preacher and the way the word of God was given with real examples that one could relate to. The retreat taught me how to look at myself that 80% of our problems are within us. It enriched me spiritually too as each doctrine given had a clear prompt message. If God is with me who can be against me it has further strengthened my belief and faith in God even more. Jesus Encounter Retreat 8th to 10th May Don Bosco English Prayer Group in collaboration with the Family Cell organized a one day Family Retreat on Sunday, 31st May from 10am.-5pm. The Retreat drew overwhelming participation & the A.V. Hall for the occasion was fully occupied. The main speaker was Francis D'Souza ex-nst member of the CCR. The Retreat began with a time of praise and worship led by music ministry of the prayer group. The session was inaugurated by Fr. Aloysius Furtado our parish priest quoting Pope Francis viz. 'Please', 'Thank you' & 'Sorry' which had a deep message to convey. He mentioned that the fruit of the retreat should be seen in every family through prayer, regular attendance at cluster & SCC meetings and participation in church activities. In his first session, Francis spoke about holiness, ways and means to attain holiness and for families and couples to grow in holiness through various types of prayer, frequenting the Sacraments & reading the Word of God. He mentioned how Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the one who sent me. 47 teens made their first live in retreat at Vinayalaya between 28th and 30th May, This retreat was organized by the Rose of Sharon Prayer Group of Our Lady of Egypt Church, Kalina. On arrival at the venue rooms were allotted to them. Thereafter some took a tour of the place; others played games like basketball, badminton, etc. An hour later they had their first session by Everest on Jesus the Good Shepherd. The meaning of God's love was brought out in a simple way in this parable. Barbara spoke on the 4th Commandment Honor thy father and mother and How to choose good friends. These two topics were eye openers for the young ones. She elaborated on the love and concern parents have for their children and want the best for them. The other speakers viz. Anastasia, Melody and Leela over the next two days spoke on prayer, structure of the bible and its importance, challenges Teens St. John Bosco Family Retreat Teen's Retreat I have been telling people about the retreat and how powerfully it has touched me. I experienced Gods touch very powerfully in the inner healing & the Infilling service felt the anointing of the Holy Spirit over me. I would like as many to come for the Jesus Encounter Retreat. It molds you, cleanses you & purifies your soul. The preachers were all superb & every word touched me, praise and worship team too was excellent, the Priest who came to celebrate the Mass gave out very good homilies. I was blessed that I got to do a good counseling session with one of the preachers. I strongly recommend that this retreat be made compulsory in all parishes in Mumbai as the theme chosen appeal to one & all. God Bless all those who are involved. Ashley Lobo-Our Lady of Rosary Parish, Goregaon West important it was to attend Retreats to enrich one's spiritual life & it was God who is the Creator, Sustainer & Repairer of Marriages. He quoted Pope John Paul II who said, Give me Holy Catholic families & I will give you a Holy Catholic Church. In the second session Francis dwelt at length on various forms of prayer. To emphasize this point he mentioned how important personal prayer is to build a close relationship with God which flows out through spontaneous prayer. The participants were treated to a sumptuous and mouth - watering lunch. In the third session the topic of marriage was discussed at length. Francis gave us the vital clues for building a happy marriage. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Anthony Fernandes, leader of the Family Cell. The participants returned home joyfully nourished with spirit filled inputs. Milton D'Souza Core team member of Don Bosco prayer group, Borivali face and using God given talents. It was after confession and counseling that they began to speak out and one could see the exuberance. They were not the same anymore. Games and recreation continued every evening. It was here that the innocence of these children was visible. Jesus had taken hold of them and He would not let them go. Most realized how they were misled, promising to go back and make right the wrongs in their life. The closing Eucharist was celebrated by his Lordship Bishop Dominic Savio the lover of Youth and children who lovingly shared with the teens the way they could make life better in their families. Being with Jesus can be fun! This is what they were shown. Dancing and singing for Jesus could be more fun than sitting with friends and whiling away time. The end of the retreat was a treat. With joyful music they sang danced till it was time to leave. Helen Pereira - Rose of Sharon prayer group, Kalina, Santacruz Don Bosco Prayer Group, Borivali Every Tuesday at Multipurpose Hall in the Church Annexe from 7:30 pm. to 9 pm. Isaiah 40:31 "But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint".

7 7 JUNE BREAK FREE - Zonal Youth Program Thane Zone BREAK FREE a Zonal youth outreach initiative of the CCR was held on 12 April at St John the Baptist School Hall, Thane from 4 to 7:30pm. Break free not only got all youth of the zone under one roof, but was proof of talent that our youth are blessed with. It also displayed care, love and cooperation among the leaders, co-leaders, zonal leader, youth animators and youth representatives as each one put in all their time and efforts, both in prayer and work to make the youth zonal outreach a renewal experience for all the youth who attended it. It was well planned, organised and conducted. Kudos to the idea of having the youth renewal program at the zonal level. The Program started up with a beautiful time of anointed praise and worship led by the Holy Family Prayer Group Music Ministry, Chakala. The talk on the Renewal of the Youth, by Carlos D'Souza was good and gave an insight to the youth who were Revival Journey to Kairos: Zonal Youth Program - North A & B Zones The Youth United 4 Christ (YU4C) organized Revival - Journey to Kairos, for the Youth of North Mumbai which includes 11 parishes from Mira Road to Goregaon. It was held on 12 April, at Don Bosco School Hall, Borivali. Around 360 people attended this beautiful program of which 310 were youth. The program started at 4 pm with the welcoming of youth and distribution of snacks. The program was initiated with a March and welcome dance. It was a wonderful sight to see youth entering the hall waving flags to the beat of the music. We were then led to an amazing time of praise by the music ministry Testify, Ghansoli. The youth were drawn to come to the front of the stage to do the action songs. Thereafter, the youth of North A Zone put up a musical skit, explaining the love of Jesus & ending with a reflection on our bodies being the living temples of Christ. Later there was a testimony given by Dhruv Rathore about his conversion in Christ & a testimony by Fr Anto Denish from IC parish, Borivali. The youth were Catholics in India were going through a tough phase: persecution by fundamentalist in many States of India, Churches were attacked, prayer services were stopped, pastors and preachers were beaten up, Schools and Catholic Institutes were targeted. A lot of things were happening which cannot be written down. The Church had to act on all this. While other associations were having peace marches and rallies, an Intercessory Prayer Service Pray for India was held in Don Bosco Parish, Borivali organised by the English and Hindi prayer groups on March 31. The service was attended by members of the prayer groups and many parishioners. It began with praise and worship and was followed by intercessory prayers for Youth Encounter Pray for India present. There was a good feedback about the topic shared. The Gospel Dance put up by Our Lady of Mercy Church youth, Pokhran and Skit put up by the St Anthony of Padua Church youth, Kalwa was very lively and helped keep the Outreach alive and active. Both the skit and dance displayed beautiful morals and the youth were drawn to rethinking changes in their lives. The Jam Session taken up by the Music Ministry got the youth dancing to gospel music. Youth also began asking where and how to download these gospel tracks. The Mass was the perfect icing on the cake after the jam session. Fr Daniel Fernandes also included a short time of ministering. Looking forward to pulling more youth to Jesus, through many such future programs. Margaret Pinto - Zonal Youth Coordinator, Thane Zone, belongs to St. John the Baptist prayer group, Thane given lucky draw gifts like Kairos registrations, JER registrations, Charisindia subscriptions & many other gifts. The ice breaker game let the youth to interact more closely & know one another better. It was followed by a gospel based dance by the youth from St Joseph's Parish, Mira Road. Lenny Soares gave a talk & led the youth to a time of worship. It was an anointed time with the Lord. The entire program was compered nicely by Collete Veigas, who shared her testimony about how a retreat changed her life. YU4C Coordinator, Aaron Colaco gave a vote of thanks making us realize how so many people have worked together to make this beautiful program a success. The program ended with fun filled action songs by Testify. It was an evening filled with enjoyment, dance, laughter a good time of getting closer to God & reviving His Spirit among the youth. Blessy Joseph-Youth of Our Lady of Rosary prayer group, Goregaon West several intentions which included, enlightening and lifting up the needs of our country, especially for the leaders, ministers, politicians, central and the state government, judiciary, persecution of the minority, etc. The prayers were backed by touching videos and appropriate hymns which made the prayer more effective and meaningful. Many parishioners who attended the service experienced intercessory prayer for the first time. They acknowledged and understood the significance of prayer and recognized that prayer is the only and necessary channel to cry out to the Lord. It is the only solution to all problems. The service concluded with a thanksgiving hymn. Elveera Pinto Leader of the Don Bosco prayer group, Borivali Mary Immaculate Praise Community, Dabul, Charni Road. 8 AT MUMBAI CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL 8 THE SERVICE OF THE CHURCH AND HUMANIT Y WHO AM I: Zonal Youth Program - Vakola-Kalina-Kurla Zone Who Am I? A question that many even at the age of 50 find it difficult to answer! It's a question that entangles successive generations of youngsters in the threads of bewilderment. It was to help the youth of Vakola-Kalina-Kurla Zone to answer this question that the Zonal core team (comprising of youth and adults) chose the theme 'WHO AM I?' for the Zonal Youth Outreach. It was held on 19 April at Holy Cross Parish, Kurla. As over 150 youngsters from the 3 parishes streamed in, they were segregated into groups by a coloured ribbons tied onto their wrist. It helped in the first phase of the Outreach, which consisted of ice breakers. The youth enjoyed the games aimed at getting them to mingle and know one another and the biblical games took their interactions deeper. This also gave an opportunity to those joining a little late, not to miss out on the main part of the Outreach for which they had gathered. Fun and games then gave way to a time of Praising and Worshipping GOD led by the Youth Music Ministry of North B Zone. While most people might judge youngsters as those not too interested in having a relationship with GOD, being in that hall and watching the level of participation from all the youth was really heartening! After a snack and a cold drink, the youth were treated to a soul-touching gospel dance to the famous soundtrack WHO AM I? Nothing can cut through the heart of a youngster better than the testimony of another youngster. And that was what we realized that many youth felt as they were touched by the testimony of another Breakfree - Face The Book of Life was organized for the youth of the Andheri East and West Zones on 26th April. A total of 170 youth participated in the program from both the Zones. The Outreach started at 4:15 pm, with a time of fellowship followed by an anointed time of Praise and Worship led by the Living Waters Prayer Group, Malad. Then, there were games and spot prizes organized for the youth, conducted by Evelyn Fernandes, the youth animator. All the youth participated wholeheartedly. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Youth from the Thane prayer groups put up a skit and dance depicting the life most of our youth are facing: getting into bad company, use of abusive language, alcohol, smoking, parties, wrong relationships, depression etc. However, the skits showed how an encounter with Jesus, changes the life of the youth and his friends circle. The underlying message of the skit was to motivate the youth to lead them from darkness (worldly ways) to light (Jesus). The second half started with a talk by Victor Pereira on the topic WWW - Winning the War Within. The youth learnt much on the life of Joseph from the Old Testament, how one can depend upon God and win, Youth Encounter youngster like them who had encountered JESUS at a retreat and decided to make HIM the LORD and MASTER of her life. This was followed by a young Doctor, giving a talk on the harmful effects of the vices of smoking, drinking alcohol and drug abuse. She not only touched on the medical aspect, but on the spiritual aspect and how these are sins against our body which is the temple of the HOLY SPIRIT. A solemn time of reflection and surrender followed in the Adoration of JESUS in the Blessed Sacrament. This was led by Dickson Mendes. The Outreach culminated with songs of Praise which when coupled with the exuberance of the youth, became a jam session of sorts! The Outreach served its purpose of planting the seed of GOD's love in their hearts, with the hope that the prayer groups will 'water' and 'harvest' through personal and group follow up programs. Graham Quiney - Youth of Rose of Sharon prayer group, Kalina Breakfree: Zonal Youth Program - Andheri East and West Zones how one can win within through the practice of self control, win with others by learning to value people. We learnt the importance of keeping our faith before the problem comes, so that our faith will keep us strong when the problems come. Following a few actions songs, there was a testimony given by a seminarian Br Renold, announcements made by Tony Gonsalves, Zonal Coordinator. The Outreach concluded with a fun filled jam session. 9 9 JUNE Be Enlightened: Zonal Youth Program - South & Central Zones Before the Outreach began on 26 April, and people started coming in, the leaders along with the music ministry and few youth began interceding, led by Evita Murzello, Leader of Mother of Perpetual Succor Prayer Group, Mahim. The Intercession boosted our energy. At around am youth started coming and registering. At around am Fr. Gerald Fernandes, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Victories, Mahim, commenced the Outreach with a prayer and blessed the youth. The Mira Road Music Ministry led the youth into a time of praise and worship. The youth had an amazing experience and fun, dancing and rejoicing with the Lord. It was truly an anointed time of worship followed by a time of silence. Fr Michael D'Cunha and Sylvia Rodrigues gave their testimonies, inspiring many youth and making them aware of the amazing love the Almighty Lord has for his children The Navi Mumbai zonal outreach took place at the Church of Our Lady of the Forsaken, Ghansoli on the 26 April from 5 to 8 pm. The music ministry of Our Lady of Mercy, Pokhran, led us all in a very anointed session of Praise and Worship and that really started the event in the right tone. After the praise and worship followed the encouraging and heart warming testimony of Br Frankie Crasto who had travelled for 4 hrs all the way from Mahad to share with us how he encountered the Lord who changed his life and how he was called to Priesthood. After a short break the stage was all set for the main event of the evening. George Pereira enlightened us about the continuous war between Jesus and the Devil, and that we have to chose whose side we are on. He explained the Gospel of John 10:10 records Jesus saying, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. The Devil offers a life of pleasure which leads to death and Jesus is the way and the truth to Eternal life. Then a clipping from 'The Passion of Christ' was shown and the Youth Ignite, a zonal outreach event, was organized for the youth of Santa - Bandra zone. This Outreach was held on 26 April, at St Theresa's School Quadrangle. The event began around 10:30 am with lovely hot samosas and cold drink with registrations of the youth. All the youth were warmly invited by the St. Anthony Music Ministry, Vakola to praise, thank and worship Our Lord. They thoroughly enjoyed being in the presence of the Lord. After which, we played a game called 'Vatana Bachana' in order to enable the youth to mix around. Br. Leon, a seminarian shared his inspiring testimony, which encouraged youth to think for themselves, about their calling for a vocation. We played another game called the Youth and how His saving hand was always upon them. Tea and snacks were served and a brief introduction of YU4C and CCR was given. The youth were encouraged to make the Jesus Encounter Retreat coming up in May. Deacon Ivan Fernandez was then invited to give a talk on Being the Light, wherein he explained the importance of being enlightened with the light of Christ. The Youth were attentive and inspired by the talk. The Outreach ended with a small time of contemplation on the talk followed by a Praise Session. The Youth were thanked for coming and invited for the next follow up, to which they agreed. The Outreach was an overwhelming experience for all of us. Luizann Pinto - Zonal Youth Coordinator, Central Zone, belongs to Our Lady of Victories prayer group, Mahim Whose Side Are You Leaning On: Zonal Youth Program - Navi Mumbai Zone Prophecy of Isaiah explained how Jesus blotted our transgressions and no longer remembers our sins and that Jesus was wounded for our sins and by his death we are saved. This was followed by a spirit filled time of ministering where each and everyone was given a choice to come back to the Good Shepherd and to commit or recommit our lives to Jesus Our Lord and God. A youth from Nerul who had a life changing Jesus Encounter Retreat at Vinayalaya shared his testimony, he challenged everyone to try it out and just give it a chance and really got everyone a s k i n g a b o u t J E R a n d w h e n c o u l d I d o. The night ended with giving everyone a Feedback Form to know what they felt about the Outreach and also to give their names and numbers if they would like to be contacted with regards to attending the JER. We praise and thank God for the success of the event, which would have never been possible without the backing of intercession. Savio D'Sa Zonal Youth Coordinator, Navi Mumbai Zone, belongs to Our Lady of Visitation prayer group, Nerul Youth Ignite: Zonal Youth Program - Santa-Bandra Zone Palm Game which was connected to our teaching, 'Our Father has carved our names on the palm of His hands'. Talk on Father's Love was well brought out by Roshni Nunes. All youth listened intently to the teaching and wonderful personal testimonies shared by her. Time flew and we didn't realize it was almost the end of our program. Lastly, St Anne's youth put up a dance on the song, 'Above all' which was enjoyed by everyone. The youth were asked to fill in a feedback form, wherein they shared how they appreciated the entire event. Most of them wanted more such events. 10 AT MUMBAI CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL 10 THE SERVICE OF THE CHURCH AND HUMANIT Y We were all looking forward to the Pentecost Day, anticipating infilling of the Holy Spirit. Prior to the Rally, intercession was made daily by praying the Rosary after the 7 pm. mass, at St Paul's Church. The day of the Rally dawned bright and sunny and service began with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Praise & Worship led enthusiastically by members of Prayer Groups from the South Zone, provided an invigorating start to the Rally, backed by a packed Church. As the Praise & Worship ended, a time of silence enabled the gathering to prepare themselves to participate in the Holy Eucharist. The main celebrant was Fr. Roland Fialho, Spiritual Director of the CCR, joined by the concelebrants: Fr. Terrence Murray, Fr. John Almeida and Fr. Ashlyn Fonseca. Fr. Roland in his homily made us reflect on the vision statement DIE, and how we should think, feel and act like Jesus did, seeking the will of God to be fulfilled in all we do. Do people see Jesus in us? After the break, which saw the people fellowshipping with one another animatedly, Fr. Terrence Murray spoke on the theme of the Rally based on 2 Timothy 1:7 Holy Spirit The Spirit of Power, Love and of Sound Mind. With the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, we need never be afraid of the circumstances that the world brings upon us. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of "Youth" the one area that the Church is deeply concerned about, always. The onus of passing on the true faith to the next generation and raising strong future Godly leaders lies on every Catholic. Sensing this urgency and the pressing need to make disciples, the MST envisioned this Discipleship Camp, which is spread across three weekends. 19 committed youth from various pockets of Mumbai responded to this call for the first camp held in June. In his first talk, Lenny expounded the depth of God's steady, unchanging love. In his next session, he presented the commonly heard salvation message in an uncommon way. This opened our eyes to the horrors of sin and its grisly effects on our spiritual life. This surely woke many of us from our spiritual slumber. The two afternoon sessions on the Word of God by Mervyn intrigued us all. His upbeat talk helped us rediscover the beauty of our faith, and surely, we collected many valuable nuggets. Victor positively challenged us to put the search light on and see the areas that are still unsurrendered to the Lord, which honestly questioned our claims of calling Jesus "The Lord of Our Lives". The group sharing sittings gave us opportunities to share our impressions about the talks we've heard that day. Pentecost Rally Central & South Zones Rally power, love and self-control (sound mind). Fear stands alone, pitted against the three forces from God (power, love and self-control). So which is stronger? Fear does not stand a chance! The heartfelt testimony of the young seminarian, Denvel Nunes, made us all aware of how when God calls, he clears the path towards His call. We need to hold these young men in prayer always. We also prayed the Holy Rosary, specifically interceding for the needs of our Church, our Families, our Nation, the World, and to be Spirit-filled Christians. The Rosary was led by Llewelyn Smith of Mother of Perpetual Succor Prayer Group, Mahim. The Infilling of the Holy Spirit led by Fr. Roland brought all the core team members of the various prayer groups in Central and South Zones together at the foot of the altar to be prayed over by the people, and the leaders in their turn prayed over the people individually the Holy Spirit thus uniting all in Him. Then, Frankie Fernandes, Leader of Mary Immaculate Praise Prayer Group, gave a rousing Vote of Thanks. The evening ended, celebrating the freedom we have in the Holy Spirit, to the rhythm of Toh Gao Alleluia and all of us Spirit filled Christians went out to proclaim the Good News to the world. Maryann Baptista - St Paul's prayer group, Dadar (E) A Fantastic Beginning! Discipleship Camp (I) 26th - 28th June The evening games helped us rejuvenate our senses and bond with one another. The power of confession was tangible as we were taught how to unfeignedly admit our shortcomings and be candid about our thoughts before our Maker. During our stay at Vinayalaya Retreat House, every morning, we were given personal time to be exclusively spent with the Lord. This helped us revive the long lost habit of praying. Victor also increased our knowledge about the continual works of the Spirit of God in our lives, sanctification being of paramount importance. The youth constantly interacted with the preachers, came up with questions when in doubt, and willingly committed to a few assignments, which will be followed up over the ensuing weeks. The final talk by Carlos was a timeless lesson on the vocation of marriage. Such topics will surely help us make wise choices in the most crucial crossroads of our lives. As we eagerly look forward to the next weekend, we solicit your earnest prayers so that we will not lose this gleeful fervor and that we will be unwavering in our commitment to the last breath here on Earth. 11 11 JUNE The Introductory Teachers training program was held on 1st February, 2015 at Mount Carmel Church, Bandra. We were around 80 teachers from various parishes in Mumbai. The program began with praise and worship. An introductory talk was given by Fr. Roland and Dickson. The Objective was to train teachers with a futuristic and composite vision, to share the Word of God with conviction and confidence. Carlos laid emphasis on the topic Called to be teachers where he made us reflect on 'What does God want from a teacher? What is the purpose and the mission?' He further said that to be true witness of God, we must be in relationship with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit before we go out and proclaim with authority. Here he quoted Ezra 7:10 and said that like Ezra, we too have to prepare our hearts to seek the law of the Lord and to do it. It was followed by Victor's talk - Involve - Be a part of the group before you teach, Wait - Read and study the Word of God, Persevere - correction was the mantra given to be followed before one moves out to teach. The session ended with assignments to be completed before the next training program - To study the life of Abraham and to be committed as an Intercessor in the Intercession ministry and to give a short input during intercession. The next training program was on 21st and 22nd March. It was a gratifying and enriching session. All the speakers were able to keep our attention and were generous in sharing their experiences. Their talks were informative, humorous and had substance. Fr. Roland enlightened us with his talk on Why study the Bible? He explained to us how the Word of God will convict us of our sin, heal us, reveal God's will, instruct and strengthen us and finally transform us into disciples of Christ. He also briefed us about the seven statements of the Bible. Mervyn acquainted us with the seven steps while observing a Discourse Passage. Like, look for the key word and other details, ask and answer Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you Mark 11:24. Claiming this promise from Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Prayer Groups of North B zone comprising the Hindi, Konkani and English Prayer Groups came together for the All- Night Intercession Vigil on 25th April at St Joseph Church, Mira Road from 10:30 pm. to 5:00 am. The Night Vigil began with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament by Fr. Roshan D'Souza of St Joseph Church, Mira Road. After an anointed time of Praise and Worship led by the Lily of the Valley Prayer Group, Mira Road, various Intercessory prayers were offered to the Lord by members of the Prayer Groups in English, Hindi and Konkani. The prayer intentions were focussed on the persecuted Church, the Youth, the Government and the Teachers Training program Training Program All-night Intercession Vigil at Mira Road questions, evaluate, apply to ones day to day life and finally actualize it. These steps helps one to prepare his/her talks in an appropriate manner. He also guided us, how to develop our observation skills while studying a Narrative/ Prose passage. Some of the tips given were as follows; be realistic, imaginative, empathic. 'Speak up, speak out' a talk by June Dias, prepared us for public speaking and ways to be calm before a presentation. On the second day of the training, we were divided into smaller groups to work on the passage, Mathew 6: This activity provided each participant with hands-on experience in preparing a talk. Victor familiarized us with tools and resources that we could use to prepare for our talks. He also prepared us to overcome obstacles in our path through Prayer... Before the next session, we had to give teachings in our own parishes on any one topic Discipleship, Intercession or Evangelization. On June 14 we had a talk given by Victor on 'What is Learning and What a Teachers should know?' Post lunch we had to give talks in small groups. This again gave us the opportunity to widen our horizon. I quote Cardinal Ivan which aptly summarizes the teachers training program - It is not enough to go through the Word of God, we must allow the Word to go through us. It should reform, transform and purify us. Mariam Matthew - St. Pius prayer group, Mulund Catholic Charismatic Renewal. A short time of healing was conducted in Hindi followed by the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The Vigil concluded with the Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Nelson Pinto of St Joseph Church. The prayer group leader Fay Lobo, gave special thanks to all who contributed and attended to make this Night Vigil a success, especially thanking the MST of CCR, Mumbai for giving an opportunity to organize this Night Vigil at Mira Road. All those who attended the Night vigil were kept in full wait, watch and pray mode by the anchoring of Patrick Corda, the anointed time of singing action and meditative songs by the Don Bosco and Lily of the Valley prayer groups throughout the night. 12 AT MUMBAI CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL 12 THE SERVICE OF THE CHURCH AND HUMANIT Y Marian Journey - A walk with Our Dearest Mother Mary A program titled Marian Journey A walk with Our Dearest Mother Mary was conducted in St. John Bosco Church, Borivli on 3 consecutive Wednesdays in May from 7.30 to 9 pm. by the English Prayer Group and Legion of Mary. Mariam Priests Fr. Lawrance D'Souza and Fr. Clarence Sequeira enlightened and enriched the congregation with very anointed talks on the life of Mother Mary. Many hidden truths not known to us were unraveled by the priests. In the 1st session, Fr. Lawrance enlightened the faithful on the graces received by us through Mary's intercession. He touched upon the life of Mother Mary as fountain and storehouse of all graces. He referred to her as the Ark of the Covenant as she carried the promised Saviour in her womb. In the 2nd Session, Fr. Lawrance explained how Mary was looked upon as the mould of God, a masterpiece of God and a new Eden where Satan has no hold. He explained meaningfully the 10 virtues which Mary was gifted with viz. "I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one" (Ez.22:30.) This verse could not have applied to the 7th of June, as over 200 members of the North-B zone came together for a time of intercession at IC Church, Borivali. The Blessed Sacrament was exposed as soon as we entered the place giving us the confidence that Jesus is present with us. The service began with praying of the Divine Mercy, signifying Jesus, the principal intercessor, who's ministry we share. It was soon followed by an anointed time of Praising and Worshiping Our Lord led by the IC prayer group music ministry. Soon after which, the Lord's army of intercessors marched in to stand in the gap and intercede. We prayed for members of the NST & MST, the clergy and all people in authority, our country, govt. & political leaders, persecution of Christians all over the world, Prayer groups, Leaders, Core & especially for our spiritual directors. We Come early morning, Sunday the 19th April, two Busloads of Prayer Group members 87 excited people, old & young from 2 years to 88 years left for a Day's outing of fun, fellowship and relaxation at Samara Gardens Resort, Madh. With the school term/exams behind them, parents & children could let their hair down and unwind. It was heartening to see one of our members fulfill his dream of owning an a/c car and his joy and generosity extended to his sponsoring all picnic expenses including comfortable a/c transport back & forth in the new car to a few of the very aged members of the group. The entertainment committee had organized a couple of very interesting & competitive group games which involved participation by 1. The Door her deep humility. 2. Her lively Faith do whatever Jesus tells you to do. 3. Her perfect obedience Her 'Yes' to the will of God. 4. Her increasing prayer At Pentecost. 5. Her constant self-denial Always in the background. 6. Her surpassing purity Virgin of Virgins. 7. Her ardent love A great intercessor. 8. Her heroic patience Standing patiently near the Cross. 9. Her angelic kindness Coming to help Elizabeth. 10. Her heavenly wisdom Submission to His will. In the last session, Fr. Clarence spoke about the various apparitions of Mother Mary and how the faithful were drawn towards these Holy places and experienced miracles in their lives. To conclude, all 3 sessions were very educative, enriching and truly gave us a deep and meaningful insight about different aspects of Mary's life. This has increased our faith, love and devotion to Our Mother Mary immensely. Fimber Dsouza - Core Team Member Don Bosco prayer group, Borivali North-b Zone Intercessory Prayer Service - Ps.103:1 Out of the depths I cry to you Oh Lord Prayer Group Picnic also prayed for other needs like renewal of families and youth in our parishes led by the youth themselves. These intercessions were prayed along with relevant scriptures & every prayer was backed up by praying in tongues and a gospel hymn to keep us connected and attentive. During this time, the Lord took away our fears and replaced it with great faith in Him. After the time of intercession, Fr. Melroy, spiritual director of the IC prayer group, ministered as he led us into a time of surrendering our own lives into the hands of Our God, praying for ourselves and our problems, offering our joys and pains to the Lord, asking the Lord to fill us with His spirit and empower us. This was the most beautiful part of the evening. The feast of the Body and Blood of Christ was no ordinary day for us. We experienced yet another infilling of the Holy Spirit, enriched by Christ's presence and felt the Trinity work in us which will keep leading us by the power of His love... Ryan Castellino Youth of Lumin Christi prayer group, Borivali all the excited picnickers. Since the resort also had a swimming pool a number of members opted for a pre lunch dip and cooling. As a family bonded in love, all members old & young participated in a singsong session, singing onetime favorites of yesteryear. This session exposed a lot of hidden talent of members which could be put to use in the Prayer Group for greater involvement of its members. Excellent and sumptuous breakfast, lunch and evening tea were provided by the Resort Catering staff, so much so that some senior members took time off to have a short post lunch nap. All too soon the day drew to an end and we had to say farewell to Samara Gardens. 13 13 JUNE Happenings at Our Lady of Mercy Prayer Group, Pokhran, Thane Our Lady of Mercy prayer group has been seeing a slow but steady growth in the number of people coming for the prayer meeting every Thursday from an average of 50 to 60 people in February to approx. around 70 to 80 people & at times crossing 100 on at least 2 occasions since of late. One of the major reasons is the answer to one of the intercession, praying for a good music ministry from Nov 14. The anointed music has been attracting many youngsters to the prayer meeting. A special prayer service every first Friday from 3 to 7:30 pm including mass has been organized by the parish priest Fr. Rudolph who has asked the prayer group to conduct the service in a charismatic style. The first service was on 1st May where we were expecting around 50 to 80 people but we were surprised to see around 200 people turn up at 3 pm & later the crowd kept increasing to nearly 300 people. At the end of the service the prayer group people were thanked by the parishioners and requested to continue this service every month. God confirmed His word with signs, wonder and miracles as many testified of healings and many prayers being answered, many testimonies of those jobless got jobs after attending and praying at the service. The service in June The Remedian prayer group was founded by Mrs. Franscina Pitchen on 15th April Many old members remember it was a bright sunny afternoon on a Sunday. How the years rolled by! Here now, we were awaiting with eagerness and enthusiasm, the celebration of the silver jubilee of our prayer group. Finally, it dawned on 15 April, Fr. Byron celebrated the Holy Eucharist attended by a sizeable congregation responsible for the prayer group's baby steps to its giant strides. The Mass included praise and worship led by our music ministry and touching offertory gifts. Boxed eatables were distributed after the Mass. We could have celebrated on a grand scale. But better sense prevailed and the said amount was decided to be given to the under-privileged which was donated to an NGO. As part of the jubilee celebration we undertook a 5 hours journey to Mahad on Saturday, 18 April early in the morning. On the way we were taken to their school. Then we were taken to the two-storey foundation building. Besides housing orphan boys, it had a beautiful chapel. We had taken food-grains and other daily usage items for them. After lunch we were taken to far flung villages. People live in shanties with bare minimum essentials. All the houses had no doors. Here too there was another school. We distributed books and stationery. Each child waited patiently for his turn, no out Silver Jubilee of Remedian Prayer Group saw a larger crowd of 400+ people. Fr. Joel encouraged the people to come for the regular prayer meeting to which we saw a crowd of 125+ people coming the following Thursday. The service in our parish conducted by the pg is bearing much fruit as we are seeing the numbers growing on first Friday as well on Thursday for the prayer meetings. All Glory goes to God who is inspiring many of our music ministry members to take a half day or take leave to be there for the service. We realized people are hungry for God and their needs to be met, hence they travel all the way to different places whenever they see that they are fed spiritually & needs met. We are also seeing our intercessory team slowly growing in numbers with Fr. Joel joining us on Mondays for intercession. Thanks to Fr. Rudolph who has always encouraged us to go ahead with our programs. It's a blessing for our group to have such wonderful priest who support us and not forgetting Fr. Nasli who pushed me to form a youth music ministry in Nov. 14 since he is in charge of the parish youth. All glory and honour and praise to God alone for the wonderful things he is doing in our midst. We realized how blessed we are and how we take His blessings of a home, food, clothes etc. for granted. Most of all reaching out to the poor was the lesson we took home!
