We are grateful you ve joined us and pray you will experience God s presence today. We invite all newcomers to take one of the red Welcome bags (available at each entrance) and to join us after the service for refreshments. Questions? Ask anyone wearing their nametag on a red lanyard. Children and youth are full participants in all our worship services at St Clement s and always welcome to sit with you. Every Sunday, we also offer excellent, staffed leadership in our Nursery, Children, and Youth ministries. Children and Youth enjoy their own dedicated programming during the first half of the service, joining the wider community at Communion, our family meal. Our youngest members may remain in the Nursery for the entire service. Nursery (ages 0-3): Located just up the stairs and to the right. Feel free to stay with your child until s/he feels comfortable. Please pick up your child here after the service. Children (JK-Grade 5): Located up the stairs in Canon Nicholson Hall. Kids do a sticker sign-in at our colourful Welcome table. Youth (Grades 6-12): Located at the top of the stairwell past Canon Nicholson Hall. Junior and Senior Youth gather in the youth room.

The Two Great Commandments Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Lord, have mercy upon us, and write both these your laws in our hearts. 3

Help us so to proclaim the good news of your love, that all who hear it may turn to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. please be seated The Proclamation of the Word The Readings Exodus 14:19-31 read by Kitty Graham Reader A reading from the Book of Exodus 19 The angel of God who was going before the Israelite army moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from in front of them and took its place behind them. 20 It came between the army of Egypt and the army of Israel. And so the cloud was there with the darkness, and it lit up the night; one did not come near the other all night. 21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. The Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night, and turned the sea into dry land; and the waters were divided. 22 The Israelites went into the sea on dry ground, the waters forming a wall for them on their right and on their left. 23 The Egyptians pursued, and went into the sea after them, all of Pharaoh s horses, chariots, and chariot drivers. 24 At the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and cloud looked down upon the Egyptian army, and threw the Egyptian army into panic. 25 He clogged their chariot wheels so that they turned with difficulty. The Egyptians said, Let us flee from the Israelites, for the Lord is fighting for them against Egypt. 26 Then the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea, so that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots and chariot drivers. 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at dawn the sea returned to its normal depth. As the Egyptians fled before it, the Lord tossed the Egyptians into the sea. 28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the chariot drivers, the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea; not one of them remained. 29 But the Israelites walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters forming a wall for them on their right and on their left. 30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 Israel saw the great work that the Lord did against the Egyptians. I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 Should you not have had mercy on your fellow slave, as I had mercy on you? 34 And in anger his lord handed him over to be tortured until he would pay his entire debt. 35 So my heavenly Father will also do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother or sister from your heart. Amen The Creed Do you believe and trust in God the Father? I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. please stand Do you believe and trust in his Son Jesus Christ? I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. Do you believe and trust in the Holy Spirit? 8 Confession and Absolution Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; God welcomes sinners and invites us to God s table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God s forgiveness. please sit or kneel; silence is kept Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen. Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Celebration of the Eucharist During the following hymn, we are joined in worship by our youth and children. Our children bring up the bread and wine to set the table for Communion, our family meal. At the Lord s Table, Christ is the host and we are the guests. We also take up a financial offering to nurture God s kingdom among our people and beyond our walls. A growing number of us contribute via Pre- Authorized Giving. Giving joyfully and freely to God s work is one practical way that we are being transformed into a people of hope & confidence, humility & gratitude, wonder & curiosity, generosity & purpose. Prayer over the Gifts Holy God, Accept all we offer you this day. May we who are reconciled at this table bring wholeness to our broken world. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. The Great Thanksgiving please stand or kneel The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is indeed right, our duty and joy, that we should always and everywhere give thanks to you, O Lord, holy Father, mighty Creator, and eternal God. Therefore with angels and archangels, and with the whole company of heaven, we praise and magnify your glorious name, evermore praising you, and singing: 9

10 Sanctus Community Mass, Proulx Almighty God, our heavenly Father, in your tender mercy you gave your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption. He made there, by his once and for all offering of himself, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He instituted, and in his holy gospel commands us to continue, a perpetual memorial of his precious death until he comes again. Hear us, O merciful Father, we humbly pray, and grant that we who receive this bread and wine according to your Son Jesus Christ's holy institution, in remembrance of his death and passion, may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood. On the night that Jesus was betrayed, he took bread, and, when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after supper, Jesus took the cup, and, when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. Accept through Jesus Christ, our great high priest, this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; and as we eat and drink these holy gifts, grant by the power of the lifegiving Spirit that we may be made one in your holy Church, and partakers of the body and blood of your Son, that he may dwell in us and we in him: Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, Almighty Father, world without end. 11 The Lord s Prayer As our Saviour taught us, let us pray, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Communion baptized persons are welcome at Christ s table. If you do not wish to receive the wine, you may touch the base of the cup. If you wish to receive a blessing, please come forward and cross your arms. Gluten-free wafers are available upon request. The Deacon will bring Holy Communion to those unable to come forward to the Lord s table. The gifts of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God. I come with Christians far and near to find, as all are fed, the new community of love in Christ s communion bread. As Christ breaks bread and bids us share, each proud division ends. The love that made us makes us one, and strangers now are friends. The spirit of the risen Christ, unseen but ever near, is in such friendship better known, alive among us here. Together met, together bound, by all that God has done, we ll go with joy, to give the world the love that makes us one. 11

13 Prayer after Communion please stand God of peace, in this eucharist we have been reconciled to you and to our neighbours. May we who have been nourished by holy things always have the courage to forgive. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. The Blessing Glory to God, whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen. The peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord: and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be amongst you and remain with you always.
