HELEN STAFF AS BUSINESS MANAGER Don Reimer has agreed to become the Business Manager for St. Helen Parish and School. He will begin on October 12. Don has been Chief Financial Officer for a large community health center in Butler County. At St. Helen he will manage the finance, maintenance, and human resource functions of the parish. His tremendous experience will be a major contribution to the efficiency and careful management of parish resources. Don and his wife, Claudia, currently live in Hamilton, Ohio and are planning to move to our area. They have two adult daughters, one beautiful grandson, and another grandbaby on the way. Welcome, Don! ONE PROCEDURAL CHANGE FOR THOSE TAKING COMMUNION TO THE SICK If you are taking communion to someone after Mass, please place your pyx on the credence table by the servers before Mass instead of by the Tabernacle. Everything else stays the same. You will be given the filled pyx at the end of Mass and will process out behind the servers. This is a full time position with benefits, accountable to the maintenance supervisor. In this position the person will provide general building maintenance, painting, grounds maintenance, and general repair. Work hours are daytime, Monday through Friday with periodic evening and weekend hours as needed. Employment to begin in December. St. Helen Parish will hold Advent by Candlelight for ladies of the congregation, their female family members, friends and neighbors, on Sunday, November 29 in the Smith Building. This year, we hope to offer two sessions: one at 2:00pm and one at 6:30pm. There is no charge for this event. This is a wonderful evening of the Word, music, and fellowship to help you prepare your hearts for the Advent season before the holidays get into full swing! Want to ensure you have a seat at this year s Advent by Candlelight? Volunteer to be a table hostess and we will reserve a chair for you! Hostesses provide table settings, decorations, candles and a dessert and/or appetizers for a table of 5-7 ladies. Many partner with one or two others to host a table. It is lots of fun, and requires only a few hours of your time for planning, baking (or buying) and decorating. October 28 th at 7:00p.m. in the Parish Library. These six, weekly, 1 ½ hour sessions will be facilitated by Karol Dyer, lay pastoral minister and Ruth Hoffman, parish nurse. This experience is meant to help healing and start to fill the emptiness that may hang on as we move into a new life after the loss of a loved one. Advance notification is necessary. LIVING IN COMMUNION WITH CREATION: TOWARDS ECOLOGICAL CONVERSION October 9-10, 2015 The Jesuit Spiritual Center at Milford in partnership with Bellarmine Chapel and Xavier University s Institute of Spirituality and Justice, will present a two day program on Pope Francis Encyclical on the Environment On Care For Our Common Home. The program will begin Friday evening and extend through Saturday. Through prayer and reflection, presentation and discussion the gathering will focus on a critical theme of Pope Francis message: ecological conversion. As this theme is lifted up and grappled with, the Pope s remarks concerning the vision and spirituality of Francis of Assisi will be given particular and prayerful attention.
