About the Show: A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life! 2 From Our Pastor, Fr. Jim... So Good To Be Home! This is my first weekend back to work and what a joy it is to celebrate Mass with you once again! I truly missed not being with you at the Eucharist during these past 6 weeks...as I was reminded more than ever how much the Holy Eucharist is the center of my life and priesthood. Thank you for sharing in this love! I continue to thank you for all of your prayers during my time of back surgeries and ongoing recover. For those who have been out of town or are new to the parish, basically after three surgeries I was on strict rest for the past three weeks and began physical therapy this week. Praise God that I have no pain, but you will still see a little limp in my walk due to weak muscles in my right leg. It could be 3 to 6 months before all of that is restored. I promise no more talking about my problems! During these summer months we say good-bye and thank you to some very faithful parishioners who are moving away for new jobs, school or family. We are so grateful for all of them! One person I want to especially thank as she moves closer to her family is Ms. Alex Garcia. Alex has been especially active in our youth ministry and other faith formation activities. She has been a great example of a young adult who chooses to stay active in their faith and parish life. We also welcome all new people moving to the area or looking for a new parish! Please introduce yourself to me and/or stop by our parish office (the little red brick house at the parking lot entrance) to meet other staff members. God s Peace, Fr. Jim Deiters Recent Death: Patricia Mueth, Mother of Renee Mueth (Jeremy, Baylor and Arlo Herbert) May she rest in the peace and love of Christ. Please pray for all who have died and all who are mourning the death of loved ones. Update: As we announced several weeks ago, parishioners Jon and Lisa Harter were in a terrible car accident in North Carolina, leaving Lisa in a wheelchair (she is expected to eventually make a full recovery) and causing the miscarriage of their daughter, Alice (Lisa was 5 months pregnant). Their son, Elliott, was not with them and is okay. They have returned to O Fallon, reunited with Elliott, and are deeply grateful for all the prayers and support they have received, saying they have been so blessed by the outpouring of help and continued support from so many. They ask that we continue to pray for them, their three friends who were also hurt in the crash and the mother and child in the car that hit them. They have family staying with them as long as they need and are happy to be home and hope to be back to St. Clare soon. 4 Last September, we dedicated 24 hours of prayer during Eucharistic Adoration for the US Supreme Court to hear and rule in favor of free speech rights of Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers in California. In 2015 the Reproductive FACT Act was passed in California, which mandated that Pro Life pregnancy Centers disperse information about how to obtain state-funded abortions. Illinois and Hawaii also passed similar legislation. The US Supreme Court heard this case and this month ruled that the law was unconstitutional. This ruling will almost certainly overturn the Illinois and Hawaii laws as well. We will have information and intentions available at Adoration as well as a communal prayer at 11 a.m. Monday. At St. Clare we take this meaning to heart by engaging over 100 liturgical ministers every week! Serving as a liturgical minister deepens one s faith and understanding of the liturgy, helps add meaning to participation at Mass, and sets a good example of humble service for the next generation. We currently have over 400 ministers on our liturgical ministry roster; many serving in multiple ministries. It would be great to have at least 100 new signups this year and in a parish our size, I think we can do it! Please prayerfully consider taking part in our parish liturgical ministry program. Each ministry is unique in the amount of preparation required, visibility of the role, and skill set needed. Below is a list of our liturgical ministries; bolded ministries are short-staffed, in need of volunteers: Altar Server (Grades 5-12) Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (Age 16 & up) Reader (Grade 8 - Adults); Greeter; Usher (Grade 8 - Adults) Gift Bearer; Bread Baker; Banner Bearer (Grade 8 - Adults) Parish Choir (Grade 9 - Adults); Treble Choir (Grades 5-8) Cherub Choir (Grades 2-4); Instrumentalist Sound Board Operator (Grade 9 - Adults) Children s Liturgy of the Word Leader (Age 17 & up) Children s Liturgy of the Word Helper (Age 12-16) Nursery Leader (Age 17 & up); Nursery Helper (Age 12-16) Eucharistic Adoration Committee/Adorer Art & Environment Holy Communion to the Sick and Homebound Rosary Leader All ages are eligible for many of these ministries.
