4 Liturgy and Music Discovering the Holy Trinity In our daily lives, we often turn our attention to the Father and the Son. Then, to a lesser extent, the Spirit. The Father is the eternal, the transcendent, the one of whom there is no beginning and no end. The Son is personal, a good Shepherd, and an unwavering companion. But the Holy Spirit is the verb that animates the Holy Trinity; the Spirit is life, breath and inspiration. The Spirit is comfort, joy, hope. We need the Spirit active in the world to stir faith within us. To call us to task each day to LIVE the faith we affirm when we proclaim the Creed. Throughout scripture the Spirit is the agent of God s creative and saving work. The Spirit sweeps like a wind over the waters at the onset of creation, the Spirit is the breath of life breathed into Adam and the Spirit compels the prophets to fulfill missions that they almost always reject at first. The Spirit stirs in the womb of Mary and descends upon Jesus at His baptism in the Jordan. And days after Christ gives up His Spirit on the cross, the Spirit is poured out upon the apostles like fire and fortifies them to preach the word, to travel to distant lands and to found the Church. The Spirit is intimately involved with and active in our daily lives. Veni, Creator Spiritus Come Holy Spirit! The new feast day will be celebrated each year the day after Pentecost. in a renewed and deeper understanding of the Blessed Virgin Mary s nurturing and caring side. We especially need snacks that won't melt like all kinds of nuts, beef jerky, pop top meat w/pasta and ground coffee. We are enjoying visiting and helping our St. Ann family members. Are you looking for an outreach ministry? Come work with us. Here are just a few examples of things we do for our aging and homebound parishioners at St. Ann. 6 Young Professionals Networking Event Please join Kansas City Catholic Young Professionals and Michael Shirley for the second installment of our speaker series for 2018: "Networking in Your Community" Michael is the head of the Catholic Business Network and will be discussing how to effectively network in your community in order to make the biggest impact. Wednesday, May 23 from 6:30-8:30 PM The Catholic Center 20 West 9th Street, Kansas City, MO Host an Exchange Student HOST FAMILIES are needed for Catholic high school exchange students for the school year. The students will arrive from Europe, Asia or South America in mid-august 2018 and will stay with the host family for one semester or until the end of the school year. They are in need of caring American families (with or without children) to provide a home and share with them this unique and rewarding experience. The host family provides a bed, meals, friendship, understanding, and a genuine desire to share the American way of life with a student from overseas. The students speak English, are covered by medical insurance, and have spending money for their personal expenses.
