With your donations, we gave the inmates nice bibles and crosses. Donations also paid for the songbooks, supplies, food and hotels for volunteers. The residents (inmates) were very touched by all the prayers that were being said for them. Your names were put on the colored prayer chains and on the scroll that were hung around the room as well as the children's posters. Thank you so very much and God bless! ADULTS GROWING IN FAITH Join the Bible Study Group on St. John's Gospel Wednesdays: 9-10 a.m. All are invited to join the Bible study in the parish meeting room. Come every week or when you can! RETREAT FOR PEOPLE FACING A SERIOUS ILLNESS A retreat for people facing a serious illness will be held at the San Damiano Spiritual life Center in White Post, Virginia, June 1-3, The retreat begins Friday, June 1, at 1 :30 p.m. and ends on Sunday, June 3, at 2:30 p.m. The retreat team will consist of two priests serving as Spiritual Directors, along with doctors, nurses and helpers. The June retreat theme is "The King of Love my Shepherd Is." The retreat has been held in the Diocese of Arlington for the past forty years and now is a ministry of Catholic Charities. The Institute of Catholic Culture is a non-profit organization dedicated to adult education in the Faith. Its founder, Fr. Hezekias, will be the speaker on Friday, June 8 (Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) at Sacred Heart Parish in Winchester. AID FOR CHRISTIANS MOST IN NEED June 2 I 3 we will be taking up a special collection to support the Catholic Eparchy (diocese) of Keren, which is located in Eritrea (East Africa). The diocese of Keren is located in an arid, rugged mountainous region and is often ravaged with frequent droughts-finding drinking water is regularly a challenge. The Catholic Church in Keren serves as a beacon of hope to many, providing pastoral care, running clinics, feeding malnourished children, caring for expectant mothers and orphans, and promoting peace and reconciliation.
