As in the past, members of the congregation are invited to make a donation of 5 for a lily in memory of a loved one. Donations can be left in Reception, with details of the person to be remembered. Christian Aid: Churches in Chichester are providing soup lunches on Wednesdays during Lent to support Christian Aid. Come to Christchurch between 12 and 1.30pm on 14 th and 21 st March, to enjoy home-made soup and donate what you can to help those in need around the world. For further details please contact Michael Cox 1michaelcox@gmail.com Be Still: The next meeting of the Chichester Contemplative Prayer Group, that explores silent prayer in the Christian tradition, is on Tuesday 20 th March (7.15pm for 7.30pm start, finishing 8.45pm) in 4, Canon Lane. The specific focus for the evening will be Forgiveness and reconciliation. Illuminating Chichester Cathedral Tours Series 2018: Chichester Bishops in Testing Times Friday 23 rd March or Saturday 7 th April 10.30am - 12noon. Uncover what the Cathedral building itself teaches us as well as learning more about a key character in the Cathedral s history. 7 per tour to include coffee and biscuits. Tickets available online via or call Cathedral Christmas Carol Services 2018: Last year s Carol Services saw a large number of tickets for seats being reserved and then not used, resulting in people hoping to attend being unnecessarily disappointed. To avoid this, we have decided that this year s Carol Services will not be ticketed, and seats will be available on a first come, first served basis (as has previously been the case only for the final Carol Service). As such, please do not send in requests or envelopes for tickets to the Cathedral office. Thank you. If you are a visitor please give according to your means and if a UK tax payer use a Gift Aid envelope and sign it. If you attend frequently, planned giving through Stewardship assists the Cathedral to budget. 4 Independent Inquiry into Childhood Sexual Abuse (IICSA) The IICSA is currently holding hearings in London investigating Child Sexual Abuse in the Anglican Church, and specifically the Diocese of Chichester. These will continue for a further two weeks. Its task is to make sure that children get the care and protection from sexual abuse they need and deserve, now and in the future. Each investigation will conclude with a report. The hearings - which are public and streamed online - will include matters connected with the Cathedral, in particular those during the 1970s to 1990s which were reviewed in the Carmi Report. If you are affected by any of the issues raised in the investigation and would like to talk to someone, please consider contacting a member of the Cathedral Safeguarding Team (details online or on posters in the Cathedral), the Diocesan Safeguarding Team, or the Cathedral Clergy all are safeguarding trained. 5 Lay Chapter Vacancies Chichester Cathedral is advertising vacancies for Lay Chapter members. The process is being supported by Trustees Unlimited, specialists in charitable trustee recruitment. The closing date will be 6 April with interviews taking place on 26 April. Full information is available online on the Cathedrals website or through Trustees Unlimited at The Cathedral is particularly interested in potential Trustees with expertise in the fields of financial management, fundraising, capital projects, sitting on a trading board or other commercial entity (such as a social enterprise), marketing and communications, legal, change management. St Mary s Hospital Trustee Vacancies St Mary s Hospital Almshouses in Chichester is also advertising for non-executive trustees. The Almshouses are in the process of gaining some separation from Chapter although they will continue to work closely in partnership with the Cathedral, and three Chapter members including the Dean as Chairman will remain on the board of trustees. More information about the almshouses can be found at and about the vacancies through St Mary s Hospital is particularly interested in potential Trustees with expertise in the fields of social care, social housing, medicine, in particular care of the elderly, legal, forming and maintaining (charitable) partnerships, charity governance.
